πŸ’» Help Any setting to restrict resources?

I am an obsessive tab opener. I stock up on stuff I need to do by opening seperate tabs and windows for 10s usually within 40s of tabs of websites, but I never use more than 1 at a time,

so is there any setting to limit how many tabs will be getting processed at max or something like that? My Firefox casually spikes up to a few gb of ram because of my untidy usage

Discussion Why did that massive migration a decade ago from Firefox to Chromium browsers happened?

I have been using Firefox as my default browser for like 3 years now, and I do not miss Google Chrome at all. I actually prefer Firefox. The only times that I have ever needed to go back to Chrome is for some websites that refuse to run some javascript execution like payment or something like that, on Firefox.

Overall though, Firefox is not missing anything that Chrome has, and it is more private and secure. Why did people flock to Chrome a decade ago?

"Only chrome and edge is allowed for security reasons" as we are told. Extensions are disabled for those browsers as well. Now I am tortured by ads without Ublock. Thinking of resigning. How stupid do they have to be to believe firefox is less secure than those bloat shite browsers? Unfbelievable.

Tiny edit (because people seem to be pissed): I wasn't serious about resigning ofcourse. I was just joking and exaggerating. I am just a bit frustrated.

Help (Android) (Android) Firefox not loading new tabs unless refreshed several times?

I believe this started after a recent update.

Firefox, on a Samsung S26 Ultra if that matters, will refuse to properly display new tabs unless I refresh them several times.

The pages will stop loading, as if they're done, but will leave a blank gray/black screen with no visible content.

The amount of refreshes needed to properly display seems to vary. I've had as "little" as six and as high as twenty.

I've disabled all extensions, disabled my custom DNS, cleared cache, force-stopped Firefox, tried private browisng, and restarted my phone.

Malware scans come back clean.

All tested several times. Nothing helped even slightly.

This happens to new tabs, opened links, and searches.

Anyone else having similar problems? Anyone have any fixes?

πŸ’» Help Firefox text selection is acting weird, how do i fix it?

When I click and drag from the top-left toward the bottom-right to select multiple lines of text, Firefox seems to select the text in the opposite direction. It starts selecting from the end of the last line, moving from right to left, instead of following my mouse drag normally.

This issue irritates me a lot. Any fixes?

Add-ons Made a Firefox add-on to print selected tabs together, or save them as one PDF

Firefox used to have add-ons for this (Print pages to PDF, Universal Print), but they died with the old add-on system, and I kept needing it. My job means printing several tabs of health insurance information at once, so I wrote a new one for modern Firefox.

Select the tabs, right-click β†’ Print Selected Tabs. MultiTab Print puts them in one preview, in tab order. Download PDF uses Firefox's own PDF engine (so text stays selectable), and Open Print Dialog prints them all as one job.

A few Firefox-specific details: - It works with screen readers and accessibility tools running. An earlier version could make Firefox's memory balloon when the print dialog opened in that situation; that's fixed. - Thin borders print as clean lines instead of hairlines the print preview drops. - Everything stays local: no account, no data collection.

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/multitab-print-print-all-tabs/

(If you also use Chrome or Edge, the same tool is on the Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/okonaodgfeifdkflmiadboahipigfmmm)

I'm on a website and when I want to manually edit the URL, I tap the URL at the top and now it just... disappears? I attached an image of what it looks like now. The URL appears under I guess, but that's just an extra step now that I don't need. To be clear, this screenshot is not from a new tab. It's really weird.

Add-ons is there an add-on to block yahoo from becoming the main search engine / start page?

sorry this sounds really dumb, but i think it's not MY fault ...

it's my boomer-dad's windows computer... every now and then i help him fix some stuff, clean up the computer, install or deinstall programs, just general help... and everytime i come back to his computer, yahoo again is the main search engine and front page on firefox 🀣🀣😭 he just doesn't learn it, at some point he must allow this to happen, but i don't know when. (he also does not want this).

by now i wonder if there is any tool to just forbid anything from yahoo to get installed?! i don't know do you have any idea?

Discussion (rant) 3 years into using firefox and I still can't get over how much worse browsing history UI is

There's something about the user interface design that irks me. I can't ever seem to find what I'm looking for there with any remote level of efficiency. I'm not quite sure, but there are a few behaviours that I enjoyed on other browsers but aren't realy doable on firefox.

Maybe it's the lack of URL if it was replaced by a page title? Maybe it's all the little things such as the lack of timestamps limited to foldering by dates and a filter field? Perhaps its the fact that if you click a link it also replaces your current page with that page and moves it to the top of your history? But at least it no longer removes the old entry (that was a really infuriating issue and made no sense to me)

Here's an example usage case I often found myself doing on chromium browsers that simply does not work on firefox: Let's say you want to find a site I visited after a known website you visited but can't remember what they're called, so you search up the known website.

Great, you found the exact page and date you found the website! But now you have to remove the filter to find the page (because clicking on it will replace your current browsing page) but because there's no timestamps, you now have to manually sift through perhaps a few thosuand pages that you went through that day.

Congratulations! You just wasted 15 minutes of your time.

πŸ’» Help Firefox just insta-freezing on launch after update.

Hey guys, I'm on Windows 10.

This has already happened once to me before, navigating just fine but then after I restart my system and Firefox updates, it just seems to permanently freeze after 3 seconds.

I then have to close it from task manager (it's there with 11 instances, one of them being the crash helper).

I've tried changing the profile, restoring it and even uninstalling and reinstalling it. Nothing works. Chrome works just fine.

I don't even remember how I got it to work before, any ideas?

Edit: forgot to mention but the only 2 extensions I use are UBlock origin and a translator one, I think it's the most downloaded one. But I don't think it's this what's causing the issue
