But if you don't buy the sword you end up in a sudden mini boss fight getting your butt kicked, and when you look online for why the first response is "why didnt you buy better equipment".

"I need this for later" when you're holding x999 potions or limited consumables type beat.

I am actully decent at using consumsbles. With some exeptions I mostly only use them when I need them but when I do need them I gladly burn through my entire item inventory to make it through a tough section or boss. For example in my first playthrough of "Final Fantasy IX" I burned through a bunch of Elixirs and that was a big help.

It is so satisfying to be caried to victory by consumable Items.

Hey if you didn't use em, you didn't need em.

Only valid if game gives you no challenge or these items are pure trash (which sadly is the case for many games).

Learned this lesson years ago. Recently confirmed playing Avowed 😆

Oddly enough, in The Witcher 2 the best silver sword you can get in chapter 1 can be bought off a merchant for like 200 orens, which is practically nothing.

Neverwinter nights 2 kill a bunch of orcs, get axe of orc slaying as a reward, dont see orcs again for awhile and when you do they are still low level

Here's me: I'll be exploring and find a cool area, spend time messing around until I get bored and then resume with the story. The next part of the story: going to that place I just explored.

The only time I've ever purchased equipment in an RPG is within the first five minutes.

Or spells in Two Worlds 2, because you want all that you can get your grubby hands on.

I love that stupid, jank-ass game.

I have two world 2 for my PS3 and I have been meaning to try it. I am all about the jank

This was the thing for me on god of war 2016. The fire armor had a fairly good stat but if you just unlocked the zone. Then went on with the story you’d immediately get better gear. The grind up the volcano was fun but not really worth the detour so I did it later on.

divinity 2 is the opposite of this. Quests and treasure will occasionally give good stuff, but shopping is how you keep all your gear on par. Otherwise you end up at level 15 with a level 4 ring or something lol.

Yeah. I feel like I should just use Relics for now until I can actually use Grandmaster Witcher Gear.

Dragon Quest 11.

You've spent 11 hours in the cassino to get an stupid overpriced sword, for later in the game you get a better one by crafting after you find a receip in a random house's book shelf.

The other day playing Dragon's Dogma 2 the pawns make a comment about this and I laughed so hard. Now I usually don't buy a thing and struggle because I don't find any look or I do, then this happen, so yeah.
