Discussion keep skipping classes
bro is it just me or the urge to skip every single class this year is there. I think i’ve attended a total of 10 classes this semester. I just think there’s just no point in commuting an hour just to hear the prof read off their slides when I can just teach it to myself anyways, but then I feel so bad skipping but man I CANNOT 😆

Tbh I legit don't even listen in class. I did much better just studying on my own... I'd go to one of the 2 classes tbh...

Same !! And honestly most of my classes provide the notes from class or the slides are so descriptive that making additional notes makes no sense to do. So what’s the point of going to commute to class when I’m going to have to review everything on my own anyways, is my logic 🙈 but to each their own

Tbh, my 1 hr+ commute (one way) was also a major factor 🤣 cuz why TF am I going to campus for 1 class if there is no exam...

Fr tho and I was one of those ppl for the past 3 years of my degree who would only miss a class cuz im deathly sick. But now I got the most bs semester of classes that I don’t even feel the need to go but I don’t wanna end up regretting it when I’m writing a midterm lmao

u/HonestCalligrapher81 Feb 12 '26
This one time I did the commute and then my professor did the class for 30min… and that was my only class that day… i think that was my last straw 💀

I went to undergrad 20 years ago. My media law prof said there was no attendance/participation requirement and the final was open book.
Showed up for a total of only 4 classes. Got a B. I did study the heck out of the textbook.
Students will optimize to their needs and requirements. If you skip classes and still reach your education goals, that’s a success by your own metrics as an adult.

unfortunately every single one of my classes this semester does some form of mandatory attendance or surprise pop quizzes to track attendance

My friend, the last time i felt this way, i got diagnosed with MDD and GAD; you might want to get yourself checked to see if they are the case and mitigate it as soon as possible

Sorry but I can't imagine living like this 💀

Yeah it sucks, trust me. But honestly I feel miserable going to school, commuting an hour there and an hour back. So honestly rather be miserable at home than at school 😭😭😭😭

very happy for you because whether they realize it or not, 95% of chronic class skippers have either severe depression or anxiety

Sometimes the commute is just not worth it, especially for those that want to maximize time efficiency during their day

What I mean is that if I skipped most of my classes I would probably fail them and eventually end up getting kicked out of my program lol

Idk why ppl are downvoting you lol thats exactly what happens most of the time

Yeah, it's not just you. I'm going through a really bad case of senioritis and it's hitting really hard. This is my last semester in my undergraduate and man, I’ve been skipping so many classes it’s crazy
