Vague title, but how does one deal with their hamster aging? I don't mean mentally, but what are some things I can do for him? He's a white dwarf hamster that I've had for over a year now, but he had an owner before me so I would assume he's around 2-ish. He doesn't run around like he used to and sort of hobbles, and seems a lot scrawnier despite being fed the same. I'm going to try and get him checked to be sure there's no issues besides old age because of his walking, but in general he just seems old. Anything I can do to make his life easier?

He was thrown out in this cage to the side of the road, and I couldn’t leave him. So I guess I am a Mom now.
A bigger enclosure is on the way for him, and a big wheel for his little round body to get in shape and not look exactly like a Christmas orb.

If anyone saw my previous post, here's the update! I mustered up enough motivation today to add the huge bag of bedding I bought. When I get my paycheck I'm for sure getting her more hides and some sprays. She immediately burrowed into it when I put her in there. All the bedding is squished down! I'm so excited to get even more things for her!!

Hello lovely people! My name is Verity I am a 3rd Year Veterinary Medicine Student at the University of Liverpool. I have a massive passion for anything small and fluffy, especially hamsters. Hamsters are CRIMINALLY under researched, as I am sure you are aware they often present to the vets/pass away for unknown reasons and that is somehow accepted? Well I want to change that.

The combination of this survey and my previous research I undertook over the summer analysing consultation data, I am hoping will give new insight into hamster health and welfare.

Ik heb een tijdje terug een post gemaakt over een ongepland nestje omdat mijn hamster was ontsnapt, nu heb ik nog 2 dames over uit het nestje die dringend een huisje zoeken.
Het gaat om 2 bruine Syrische hamster vrouwtjes (hamsters leven alleen en horen in een verblijf van minimaal 100x50x50) maar groter is altijd beter gezien vrouwtjes eerder gestrest raken. Ze zijn handtam en geboren op 30 mei 2026
