Gaming I hate Trans Ralsei Theory

Post image

Even if we ignore the numerous times he has been referred to as he/him, a boy, a guy, a dude, a prince, we must also realize that just because he isn't traditionally masculine, he isn't transmasc (or transfem)

There is no Easter Bunny, there is no Tooth Fairy, and there is no Princess from the Dark.

'Oh but Deltarune is all about breaking free from fate' I can hear exactly two of you say in your heads (I can read your mind,) I know one thing, and it's that I can't break free from the fate of going through Undertale 2 and finding that both routes lead to the same goddamn ending of Gaster Friend Inside Me Penumbra Phantasm Big Shot World Revolving Jarona Shadow Crystal Always Bet On Papyrus Knight.

ZHOTAN!

(Also, I'm not transphobic, before you try to spew that label onto me)

I think the fact that Jax was referred to as "he" throughout the entire series as a closeted trans girl is what's really blowing up the whole trans Ralsei stuff

There's a new precedent in popular media that trans people don't have to necessarily be referred to as their preferred gender identities by anyone or anything until they're completely out of the closet, and I think that's the angle. Not saying I agree with the mental gymnastics, not saying that there's any merit to the weak evidence, but that's what it is

Well I didn’t like that because now there’s people online saying Jax is a girl and have always been and you’re dumb for thinking otherwise

But there’s an actual ytb short that’s been posted a week ago to promote Jax new plushie and they are referred with he him pronouns and nobody in the 5000+ top comments are using she her pronouns. Everyone is calling him a boy and nobody is saying anything :|

So that leave us with the question, what is going on? Why did no fans understood the message and why even the people behind the show seems to still use male pronouns? I just don’t get it of course people will be cornfused….

I think the idea is:

Jax, as a character within the Digital Circus, hasn't truly accepted accepted his true self, and keeps that part locked deep. So while many fans would prefer using she/her, it is also still accepted to use he/him.

Leeroy, the "real life" Jax, meanwhile, is still closeted, but thanks to having support, is on a path to being more accepting of herself and her feminine identity. So she's referred to with almost exclusively she/her.

Serious question - is that last part actually confirmed anywhere in canon, or is that just a popular headcanon? I don't remember them mentioning or referring to ANYTHING related to Leroys gender, and Leroy appeared to actually look more traditionally masculine in his modern delivery job than in his old social media posts.

It's very obvious to anyone with a brain that leroy/ jax is clearly a deeply closeted person with some degree of gender nonconformity, the only gripe I have with the community is that a lot of people seem unwilling to acknowledge that neither Jax nor his real life counterpart Leroy ever show any desire whatsoever to be referred to as she/her. I really don't like egg cracking, ESPECIALLY posthumous egg cracking. It feels super wrong to interpret someone's gender nonconformity, regardless of how valid that interpretation is, then push the pronouns you think they'd be happier with against their will.

I think even if jax un-abstracted, if the cast tried referring to him as a girl before he's 10000% comfortable with it, it's just gonna infuriate him and make him lash out. Luckily he's a fictional character so no actual real person is getting hurt, but it's still really odd to me. I thought we figured out egg cracking is bad like 7 years ago but I guess we collectively forgot.

Because the character jax while being trans has never accepted himself as trans and uses he/him for himself, locking that part up far far buried. Since the character never would use she/her, and also because it'd spoil the ending I guess the creators decided to continue with the he/him pronouns.

That is the characters tragedy. A cautionary tale of what happens when you deny yourself your own truth.

Jax was always a girl, trans people don't change their gender, they change it in the eyes of society. She was always a girl she just didn't present that way

There’s no “right” way for people to view their transition. Each person’s journey and self-concept is different. For some trans people, they consider themselves to have retroactively always been the gender they now identify as, even if they hadn’t realized it at the time. For other trans people, they consider themselves to have changed their gender, such that they were once a certain gender and now they’re a different gender. Don’t treat all trans people as a monolith.
