Mystery milestone

I was walking up Amy St in Moonah today and I saw this in a front yard. Any thoughts as to where it came from? We think it's just standard Tasmanian DMR but it might not be.

Post WW2, pre-metric mile-marker.
25 + 68=93
93 miles = ~150 kilometres

So likely, this is from the A5 between Melton Mowbray and Deloraine:

Brilliant work! So it would have been somewhere around Apsley by my maths.

They were still installing them in the 60s

National metric conversion started in 1970 with the passing of the Metric Conversion Act. Most mile markers were swapped to metric during the national motoring changeover in 1974.

What the fuck is a ‘metric mile’?

Once you've nutted that out, look into long and short kilometres.

Looks Like an old fashioned mile post. Pre decimal, so the numbers would be miles distant from a town, although where M and D are I have no idea.

Kind of amazing that they were individually cast isn't it!

I'm sure I've seen a few arrived Hobart. On Elphinstone Road from memory there one.

Survey Control Marks – DPIPWE – Public Search

I'm not sold on it being a Survey Control Mark. Looks like a milestone.

That’s what it is, nothing to do with surveys

100% This was originally in response to another comment but I've not been paying attention while posting from my phone.
