If coverage is needed, it’s the job of the manager to try and find a replacement. Have you ever worked a job that requires a certain amount of people before? The manager wasn’t rude, although they did beat around the bush a little. A simple response as to why goes a long way.
I left a job because of exactly this sort of thing. If you want me to be on call, offer to pay me to be on call and I'll consider it.
They know why, it's because you're not due to work that day. That's why they're messaging you.
You don't need an excuse, you don't need to justify yourself, you need to stand up for yourself and have some respect for your own time and your own wellbeing.
Did they say it was mandatory? They’re trying to ask them to come in. Good grief 😂
Yeah, and you have no obligation to genuflect and give them a kiss while you say no.
It’s human interaction you fucking bot 😂 I’m over this lol go ignore everyone in your life I guess
If you can't tell the difference between your family and friends, or your employer, then I'm not surprised you think you need to kiss your managers arse when they're bothering out outside of work.
Yeah, but you can say a polite “no.” Because next time you might be at loose ends and want the hours. Or you might just want the next shift to not be awkward.

Such as the courtesy to not message somebody about work when they aren't working? Or does it not go both ways?
