A lot of people here probably know this one: you love a small band, you go looking for more like them, and the recommendations keep sending you back to the same handful of bigger names. Finding the next act you'll actually care about usually means digging through forums and old playlists.
VibeScout is an Android app built for that kind of digging. You type in one artist, and it runs one deep search through direct matches, related artists, genre scenes and underground branches. What you get back is a ranked trail of hundreds of artists you've probably never heard of.
While the search runs, artists show up as cards with a 30-second song preview. Swipe right if it's your vibe, left to skip, up to save to favorites. It learns your taste from swipes, saves and full listens, and shows a "% your vibe" match.
Each artist gets a hidden gem rating, listener count, genre tags, and a count of how many paths led to them. You can filter and sort the results, so if you only want the really obscure ones, you can push those to the top.
A few other things in it:
- Scout Radio plays previews of your discoveries back to back, or shuffles your favorites
- Daily Discovery gives you three personalized picks every 24 hours
- A map and 3D globe of your discoveries, plus a Discovery Passport
- Beat Lab, a built-in beat maker with 7 kits and 10 one-tap styles, with WAV export
There's no account, sign-up or login. Your favorites, taste profile and beats stay on your device. Your first 3 searches are free, and after that a short ad unlocks 3 more. It's only on Google Play.

A question for the people here: how do you find new indie artists right now? And when you use a tool like this, what makes a "similar artist" result feel like a real find to you, and what makes it feel lazy?
