when judging a situation, your average joe always thinks “what would i be feeling if this was happening to me?” they can’t fathom the reality that other people have valid different interpretations and circumstances beyond their own

He's just saying that instead of saying "this person is dumb and sucks" try to think "why? is there a different perspective I can somewhat understand? does it make sense in a certain scenario/mindset?"

Intelligence and empathy, which, I know is not a quality to many people somehow
