MISC. A Virginia man inadvertently left his phone recording while he was under anesthesia for a colonoscopy, which captured audio of the doctors: mocking him, instructing a medical assistant to lie to him, and discussing giving him a false diagnosis of hemorrhoids. In 2015, a jury awarded him $500,000.

Being educated doesn't make you a good person. Some of the most humane and nicest people you will meet are illiterate and uneducated.

Turns out there are all sorts of people in this world. What a surprise!

Yeah, but there is a push against education on social media right now that’s masquerading as anti-elitism. That’s why I made my comment. Start calling it out when you see it.

This whole thread is a cesspit of anti-intellectualism and anti-physician sentiment. Yes, plenty of terrible physicians out there (my wife is a physician and I know some terrible doctors) but people acting like all doctors have god complexes is just stupid. The vast majority of doctors are PCPs and pediatricians who are vastly underpaid and overworked in the US. People are just throwing out attacks based on anecdotes.

Doctors are underpaid and overworked everywhere tbh, not just the US. I'm from Sri Lanka and my parents are doctors, and they worked 80 hour weeks most of their professional lives for about the same pay as an engineer or accountant working 40-50 hours a week.

And yes a lot of doctors are assholes and miss things. Most people will not be at their best when they haven't had a full night of sleep in 15 years tbh.  The only way to change things is to have more doctors everywhere in the world, and have them paid the same or more as they are right now but work a lot less hours.

I'm in the US so I have no idea about other countries. I would never assume elsewhere.

There's a push against useless education, there's so many degrees available that will leave the graduates with no job placement. There's also a push for more education in the trades and the medical field. Source I have 3 teenagers in highschool or starting college. Boys are currently being encouraged to get into the trades and girls are being pushed towards the medical field.

You're seeing "pushes" where there aren't any, likely stemming from your own insecurities. Your comment above was simply unnecessary.

It’s Reddit. It’s full of unnecessary comments.
