Is this considered normal battery life for an iPhone 18 Pro Max?
I use my phone at work, connected to Wi-Fi when available and switching to cellular data when I move out of Wi-Fi range. I mostly listen to videos, browse Facebook and Reddit, make calls, watch YouTube, and do a little bit of everything throughout the day.
I set my charging limit to 85% and usually recharge when the battery reaches 25–30%. I know some people will say there’s no need to do this, but I plan to keep my phones for around four years, so I’d like to help preserve battery health as much as possible.
I’ve disabled Background App Refresh for most apps, turned off Wi-Fi Assist, use Bluetooth regularly, keep Always On Display off, and use a reasonable screen brightness.
My main concern is that I keep seeing people report using only 50–60% of their battery with significantly more screen on time. Meanwhile, my daily battery usage sometimes reaches around 85%, even though I’m not constantly using the phone for demanding tasks.
To be fair, the battery lasts longer than my previous iPhone 14 Plus. With that phone, I’d often be down to around 30% by noon after charging to 100% in the morning. My 18 Pro Max is definitely an improvement, but I was hoping I could comfortably get through a full day without needing to recharge.
Am I expecting too much, or does battery life really vary this much depending on individual usage, cellular reception, and background activity?
I’d appreciate hearing from other iPhone 18 Pro Max owners, especially those who use their phones heavily throughout the workday. How much battery do you typically use in a day, and how much screen-on time do you get?
For example, yesterday I used 93% of my battery during a 16 hour work shift. That seems like a lot, right?
Is there anything I can do to check my iPhone 18 Pro Max’s battery efficiency or figure out what’s consuming so much power? Are there any settings, diagnostics, or other things I should check?j
