Question What are your dreams Killteams?
Mine would be Sicarian Infiltrators! They seem like such a prime candidate for me and I could imagine they'd have some interesting rules and give us and Ad Mech team without so many servitors. What are all of your dream Killteams?
115
u/Toepac Jan 21 '26
You can already field a team containing sicarian infiltrators in Hunter Clade.

I did not know this thank you for pointing it out! A perfect excuse to get some!
19
u/Pilot_Enaki Jan 21 '26
They are best used as a mix of units. Hunterclade is a very flexible team. My typical setup is
Infiltrator princepts Infiltrator 3x rust stalkers Then the ranger specialists
Or switch out the Infiltrator princepts for the rustalker princepts depending on how much rerolls the other team has

u/No-Sector3557 Jan 21 '26
I'll get the magnets out and hopefully have all options! Thank you thst sounds like a strong list
2
u/Careful-Hunt-9528 Jan 22 '26
if you want to continue with building a hunter clade kill team here is a blog i found that i used as a guide while creating my first kill team https://disregardingdice.com/hunter-clade-guide
unfortunately i can't find any sicarians in my area so i just bought 3d proxies for them
74
u/TVhero Jan 21 '26
Gretchen/grot team or a flayed ones team. Really it feels like there are so many options. Also not my vibe but I'm shocked there isn't a tyranid horde team already.
24
u/Hja1ti Jan 21 '26
And the flayed ones could be led by some mad and disgraced lord
4
u/TVhero Jan 21 '26
I think canonically all flayed ones aren't the same and have different levels of insanity and abilites so that would work?
3
u/Hja1ti Jan 22 '26
Exactly! And I feel like it fits with what GW tends to do for Kill Team creation. Now I really hope something like this happens!
14
u/Equivalent_Store_645 Jan 21 '26
how about a horde of grots with one or two killa kans?
9
7
u/No-Sector3557 Jan 21 '26
Flayed one team would be a great way to upgrade that old kit!
11
u/LordHoughtenWeen Corsair Voidscarred Jan 21 '26
It's not an old kit. It's from 2021. It's just a really, really bad kit.
4

u/genteel_wherewithal Jan 21 '26
Grot tanks, 5 operatives loaded with rickety guns and complex movement rules. Have the second super-elite team in the game be grots, give the people what they want.
46
u/Due_Skill_7467 Jan 21 '26
Chaos Undivided Demon team is what I'd love. Run by a Black Legion sorcerer. You pick which types of demons you want to to bring from each ruinous power. Have like two specialist for each power. Get some new demon sculpts.
6
u/vehementvelociraptor Goremongers Jan 21 '26
I like this idea. I've been toying with proxying Blades of Khaine with demons. Daemonettes = Banshees, Striking Scorpions = Bloodletters, and Dire Avengers = Blue Horrors. Really just want a demon team.
3
u/Rmma504 Jan 22 '26
There's an EC, White Dwarf Combat Patrol that has a Sorcerer leading Daemonettes, Fiends, and a few Tormentors. It kinda sucks but I find it extremely fun to play.
Not sure why Daemons are so unpopular in 40K, maybe it's because they're not "sci-fi" enough and feel more like a fantasy trope? But 40K is just a fantasy world set in Space lmao.
But anyway, I'm rambling now. This is a good idea and would be a great excuse for me to pick up the few random Daemon models that I like, such as Beasts of Nurgle and Screamers.
55
u/GlaiveGary Kommando Jan 21 '26
Beast snaggas with a weird boy shaman would be tight as hell. I love the beast snaggas combat patrol but the model diversity sucks ass so bad you can't even proxy them as the other ork teams without having to kitbash the tits out of them

They’re very classic orks in a way. No tricks, just sluggas and choppas.
KT upgrade sprues seem to be less of a thing nowadays but feels like they could be well fleshed out with one if it had bits for a weirdboy (or add as a plastic character), an apprentice painboy, a madboy, a guy with a squig-hound, maybe another weapon or two.
Actually, imagine if KT was the opportunity to bring back Madboys? https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Madboy Each specialist a different mental illness. Probably not something you could really do in 2026…
28
u/Foreign_Act4614 Jan 21 '26
Eyes of the emperor. Armourless Custodes with weaker weapons who spy for the emperor
2
u/FlashMcSuave Jan 22 '26
Surely it would be a bit difficult for nine-foot-tall folks to blend in and infiltrate?
2
u/DarthGoodguy Jan 22 '26
I said the same thing on the lore forum and got schooled with excepts about large, genetically engineered laborers being common in the Imperium.
I still like the idea of an ex-custodian trying to look casual in a seven foot long trench coat. Standing in an alley. Acting cool. Leaning against a wall and knocking the whole building over.
66
u/Derpogama Jan 21 '26
Not gonna lie, a Tarellian kill team, I just want more of the 40kified Kobolds. Especially now we've seen an actual miniature of one...I need more!
(like if you want to make them a Tau Aux unit GW, that'd be cool)
2
u/UltraWeebMaster Jan 21 '26
I have to say, after seeing The Enforcer, I didn’t realize how beefy they actually are in-lore. They seem closer in size to Kroxigars than to Saurians. I bet it would be another awesome elite T’au team something like Stealth Suits but focused a bit closer range.
42
u/RudeDM Jan 21 '26
Honestly, a lot of my dream Kill Teams already exist but are rotating out- Phobos, Kommandos, Aeldari Corsairs...
If I were to pick one I know for sure doesn't exist, I'd love to see an Officio Assassinorum Kill Team featuring snipers and blade-dancers.
17
u/Cyfyclops3 Jan 21 '26
I'd honestly like for the declassified teams to get rotated back in from time to time, tbh. I want my pathfinders to be legal again...

Noise Marines. Great way to get some EC into the game; we've had Night Lords, we've had the Gore things, we've had Plague Marines & Gellerpox. NOW, I WANT SLAANESH CSM!
28
u/ThrowACephalopod Jan 21 '26
Personally, I think we have plenty of elite teams and don't need more of them. While I really want an emperor's children kill team, I'd much rather it be some kind of Slaanesh cultists instead, especially because then we'd get an interesting new unit to use for 40k as well. Emperor's Children desperately need new units for their army, so it'd be a shame if their kill team was just one of their existing units in a different box.
6
u/marrakoosh Jan 21 '26
That's fair! I don't play 40k so unsure on the landscape of various armies and their units.
Cultists + Daemonettes? Or something. A sort of hybrid team. Weak cultists with a few stronger Daemonettes leading them with a sexeh whip.
2
u/Vencer_wrightmage Cheesed Jan 21 '26
You just gave me idea to kitbash Slaneesh Cultist for Chaos Cult KT. Aos have a lot stuff to work with!
4
u/Super-Web6908 Jan 21 '26
Honestly, As cool as noise marines would be, I think it would be even cooler if we got something else for EC. Noise Marines already got a brand new cool as hell kit for 40k. I'd hate for them to produce another new kit for the same unit to clash with the already new one.
I'd love to see EC in kill team, but I'd like to see something new from them so we're building the range a bit more.
4
u/SkullKidGamer1120 Nemesis Claw Jan 21 '26
If EC gets a kill team, I hope it’s those weird techno-daemonette cultists from the codex art
16
u/FreetimeIdiot Jan 21 '26
Honestly I'd find Red Corsairs or Dark Angel Fallen cool. But if I am completely honest what I really wish for is a Beastsnaggaz killteam.

When they're not getting rules support you'll still be able to use the rules for casual play im guessing? I only am a casual killteam player as of yet and tbh I want an excuse to buy and paint them 😂 if their playability falls off a cliff ill accept that
2
u/jagerune Jan 21 '26
Hunter Clade is still an awesome team! They updated and buffed them right before moving them to classified, and they're my favorite.
5 Sicarians and 5 Skitarii, lots of cool maneuvers and tricks you can do.2
u/Blanck7 Wrecka Krew Jan 21 '26
They do get some balance but they will most likly not be around after this edition

We NEED more grot representation. My suggestion? Grot horde kill team.

Ynnari Spirit-hunters (Aeldari). A band of Ynnari cultists drawn from craftworlds and Commorragh, tasked with seeking out Aeldari relics and spirit stones, or acting on the wisdom of the Aeldari dead. A 10-model team where each operative has minor psychic/ritual abilities, led by a full Ynnari necromancer-priest. The kit includes plenty of spare heads and accessories to spread out across Asuryani/Drukhari kits for a full Ynnari army.
Tarellian Dog-soldiers (T'au Empire). A pack of Tarellian mercenaries, kitted out for hunting missions against the hated Imperium (or whoever pays the bills). A 6-8 model team with a focus on close-range firefights and sniffing out targets. They're available to T'au Empire armies in 40k, and the kit includes optional T'au-themed cosmetics to build them as direct auxiliaries (you can probably also take a squad in Red Corsairs if they're lead by the Enforcer).
Bilean Gene-takers (Chaos). A squad of Fabius Bile's New Men, loaned out to other Chaos warlords or sent on missions to claim enticing technology and genetic samples. An elite 'human' team with mechanics for unpredictable genetic enhancements. Available to both Chaos Space Marines and Emperor's Children armies in 40k (just as Fabius Bile should be).
Norn Herald (Tyranids). A specialised Tyranid Prime leading a 'command squad' of mixed Gaunts (Termagants, Hormagaunts, a Gargoyle, a Barbgaunt, a Sporegaunt, a Neurogaunt, etc), all of them bred to complete a specific task or campaign. A swarm team with mechanics centred around controlling operatives through the Herald's synapse range, extended by a Neurogaunt operative.
Sacristan Recuperautors (Imperial Knights). An elite combat recovery team, led by a Questoris-sworn Tech-priest, with bionic legs to keep up with their masters on the battlefield. Sent into killzones to retrieve wrecked Knights, stranded pilots, and household relics. Mechanics based around upholding their master's knightly honour.

u/LordHoughtenWeen Corsair Voidscarred Jan 21 '26
Grey Knights anything. They've had three new kits in the last fourteen years, all Characters and none super exciting. A nice Kill Team would be just the shot in the arm the range needs, whether it's a wholly new infiltration unit or an update of one of the existing power armoured squads... as long as it's not just an upgrade sprue to go on the existing SIPP Squad sprue. That would be sad.

A dedicated Raven Guard team. 5 bodies in Phobos armor (easier to get GW to put them all in the same armor) led by a Shadow Master. Gimmie lightning claws, jump packs, and a mechanic to recover Corvia off a fallen ally and I'll probably be happy.
2
u/Serentyr Jan 21 '26
I’d like to see a kill team of: Ork Rokkit Boyz (like the vulcha boys and Zagruk)
A hyper elite imperial assassin kill team (IE: the sniper, the combat specialist, the body changing assassin and the null) - very hard to hit and deadly, but when wounded go down easily.
An aspect kill team of Eldar: a fire dragon, a swooping hawk, a warp spider, a howling banshee, a dark reaper, a dire avenger

New Harlequin unit - Webway Dancers, models based on the AoS Lumineth Spirits of the Wind effects with the cool warp ribbons and crackling webway energy on the base with them "riding" it.
In Kill Team a fast, hit and run melee unit, in 40k one with dev wounds on melee and the ability to choose to gain anti-monster 4+, anti-vehicle 4+ or anti infantry 4+ at the start of each fight phase lasts until end of turn.
Exodites vs Catachans.
Drukhari Trueborne (Elite Kabalites) vs Emperor's Children Warpshredders (think more like close range shooting/melee hybrid unit with more of the classic hair metal aesthetic).

Chaos Demons vs Grey Knights would be cool, but tbh I would just like some deeper roster building to happen. I know that it was annoying to need 3 different boxes for Warpcoven but it felt like you basically got 2-3 teams in one and I feel like a lot of the more recent teams were kinda built for us with not many decisions in the teambuilding part.
Either deeper weapon profile selection so we have to actually choose for that (I had hoped for this with Deathwatch but its ok), or just some teams that aren't explicitly elite/horde and maybe a mix

An EC flavored one. As the last mono-god Legion to get a model range, I'm not surprised at how long it's taking us to get a Kill Team, but we're now the only ones without one.
Also honorable mention for a Tyranid one that's not Raveners. It doesn't have that Tyranid flavor imo. We need a Hormogaunt Kill Team or something so I can feel the stress of sending a handful of Kasrkin at a bug infestation

We have an Ordo Xenos kill team, sort of kind of an Ordo Hereticus kill team, next I want an Ordo Malleus kill team.

Attilan Rough Riders. Both because I think it would be cool and because I want a team with really fast movement

This might be a hot take but I miss the Custodes team. Even if they go back to two custodes and some sisters of silence, I would love an updated Custodes team for 3rd edition.

I have 3 in mind:
- Another roguetrader set based on the owl at CRPG, with the characters you can recruit
- Something like Darktide, hive city convicts with some Arbites and Ogryns

I know people are saying there are too many elite teams but a squad of GreyKnights, Carcharadons/Space Marine specific teams like DA or RG. Some World Eaters would be awesome, could maybe get a butcher Surgeon model finally.
For a horde team maybe introduce a new minor Xenos species that’s been briefly mentioned in a book but nothings been done with like the Mega Arachnids

Aeldari Wraiths, with a Spiritseer for support.
They should be fast units, but it's not well represented on tabletop, so they can be big, slow-ish guys, with additional potency when either close to and/or in line-of-sight of the Spiritseer. Maybe a bit of movement range, weapons gain Balanced/Ceaseless, increased Hit stat, things that represent the psyker rousing the spirit in the Wraith unit to be a bit more active, a bit more focused. Could just be an APL battery too.

Catachan.
Separately I want a black crusade CMS mixed legion team. Kinda like a Chaos death watch. I really want to paint different chaos legions but I don't want to buy the separate sets / models. Maybe if it was a Warhammer heroes set it might happen.

Catachan vs Exodites, 'nuff said.
