Question The killteam cardboard measuring is wrong

Post image

The measurements on the token given with the core rules seems wrong, is it widely accepted that those are unreliable or is my copy fucked up ?

Looks perfectly average to me, maybe even a little too long

Day 4, the dick jokes are still being received by me and my family, I don't know how long we can survive...

:p

u/swcnpoho May 23 '26

At least you’re being a good sport about it :)

If times get too tough, maybe you can offer to trade dick jokes for an accurate ruler at your LGS

21

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

Lmao, my broke ass will definitely try that XD

6

u/Original_moisture May 23 '26

Got so many dick jokes you can pay bills in Zimbabwe Gold(official trillion dollar bill)

u/dahguy66 May 23 '26

Maybe it just got out of the pool?

220

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

This provided no help but my gf and I laughed XD

47

u/dahguy66 May 23 '26

lol anyway the plastic one that comes in the equiptment pack is the one most people use :)

22

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

Yeah I couldn't find one so I ordered on Etsy anyway

96

u/Tall_Blueberry_2287 May 23 '26

Or maybe the measuring tape is wrong!

19

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

Nope checked as well with a ruler, same result ^

31

u/violette0809 May 23 '26

Or maybe the ruler is wrong, too!

53

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26

Nope placed my crass innuendo next to it and it do be 6 inches.

5

u/Absolute_Tra1nwreck May 24 '26

Underrated 🤣

The 6” ruler was ontop of the cardboard image,

unfortunately the cutter took off 1mm(1/16”) on the outside edge, so it got shortened on either end.

Even if you find the 6” short, as long as she uses it too then size won’t matter /s

Excuse me sir and/or madam. This thread has been specifically reserved for poorly veiled innuendo. If you would be so kind to please edit your comment to include something crude, crass, immature or inappropriate.

30

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

I second this.

19

u/TheToaster233 May 23 '26

I mean... a circumcision joke is just right there; easy.

11

u/DKzDK Pathfinder May 23 '26

Certainly. 👌

Uno momento

10

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

We both laughed big times, thank you kind sir, the edit is perfect XD

14

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

That actually makes sense

That was the most helpful comment thanks 🙏

4

u/DKzDK Pathfinder May 23 '26

Your welcome 🫶

5

u/mr_nuts31 May 23 '26

So it’s circumsized is what you’re telling me?

43

u/mrsc0tty May 23 '26

AS!

IS!

TRADITION!!!

At my old flgs we used to joke that the old plastic whippy sticks were designed to disadvantage the player who didn't buy the premium 30$ Citadel tape measure.

13

u/monkismael2007 May 23 '26

Tin foil hat on conspiracy theory here.... And it's VALID

3

u/mrsc0tty May 23 '26

I mean it's almost certainly just shrinkage from the mold/cutting process but very funny conspiracy theory :D

3

u/HawocX May 23 '26

Better for duels than measuring.

1

u/LadderMadeOfSticks May 26 '26

The red whippy sticks were in "Metric Inches" a bizarre but very real measurement in which an inch is 2.5 cm instead of 2.54.

1

u/mrsc0tty May 26 '26

Stg everything Britain seems to have done since the 1980s has been copy all of America's "burn the country to the fucking ground to create 100 billionaires" but doing it with all the inefficiency that is a side-product of EU style dem-soc so they get the society rendered unto ash but don't get the billionaires.

1

u/EarthSpecial8151 May 27 '26

I miss the whippy sticks! Perfect for never getting anywhere with a game as two rowdy teenagers - "ow, my fingers!".

156

u/jon_the_mako Deathwatch May 23 '26

That's a mans 6in. lol

35

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

I knew it seemed familiar !

64

u/ProotzyZoots May 23 '26

No you see the math is actually length times girth over angle of the shaft...

11

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

I tried to argue that to my gf playing with me but she was having none of it.

7

u/subito_lucres Blood Axe Kommando May 23 '26

Maybe she should try playing with your neighbor?

Sorry

7

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

She burst out laughing well played

I remain here, crying...

Well played :p

45

u/queef_commando May 23 '26

Idk this looks pretty long to me tbh some would even say it’s unrealistically massive and that smaller is better

35

u/Warm-Comfortable501 Legionary May 23 '26

Must be a bit cold in there or somethin...

13

u/ArtSidepieces May 23 '26

Did you press the plastic ruler all the way down? That way you get extra inches

11

u/Waldemard May 23 '26

Yep and red plastic sticks that you usually get into editions starting boxes are also wrong !

12

u/Fallen_Raven_13 Goremongers May 23 '26

No one in the history of wargaming has ever used one of those as a ruler. They are strictly for whippin'!

1

u/BurningPetshop May 23 '26

Use them all the time. My kids have always take all the tape measures and leave those alone so we only have them as an option.

8

u/North_Plenty_3353 Corsair Voidscarred May 23 '26

You mean a whipping stick?

4

u/Waldemard May 23 '26

Yup the one to tattoo numbers on your little brother's ass !

9

u/changeforgood30 May 23 '26

C'mon guys, who amongst us hasn't rounded up to 6 inches on our sticks?

18

u/ozzieowl May 23 '26

It’s not the size of the ship, it’s the motion of the ocean.

At least that’s what I tell myself.

10

u/ArdkazaEadhacka May 23 '26

Both of them look too big for 6"

2

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

🫡

5

u/GlennHaven May 23 '26

I love that you've given up and have just been saluting people lmfao. It is a LOT of dick jokes.

3

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 25 '26

I keep laughing at them but at some point I have a life to live XD

Been checking in to read a few before bed to my gf for a few chuckles XD

7

u/Tactical_Geek_1 May 23 '26

Its just cold.

5

u/Chemical_Buffalo_833 May 23 '26

Have you calibrated your tape measure...?

7

u/Malk_321 May 24 '26

Have you considered How cold It is today?

9

u/Congcade May 23 '26

Is it a plastic type material tape measure like for tailors? Those often stretch very easily, I’d say comparing to a metal or wooden ruler/tape measure would be more reliable

9

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

I checked with a plastic solid ruler too

24

u/Congcade May 23 '26

Ah… then maybe its just a bit cold or having some performance anxiety

8

u/Engineseer5725 May 23 '26

I measured with a wooden ruler in mm and converted to inches and the measuring stick from my core rulebook is a lot closer to 6 inches than yours. The 2 inch one seems slightly too short though.

I also measured the sheets of two different starter boxes and they too seem fine. Only explanations I have is that all your rulers and tapes are wrong, or that the sheet has been changed at some point and you have an older version (this kind of change has tooling costs involved so it's not done without good reason), or that you live in a very dry climate and the sheet overall has shrunk compared to how it was manufactured. If you still have the sheet, maybe try measuring its outer dimensions and compare that to what other people have.

4

u/NathanDnd May 23 '26

Same, mine is about 1mm off 6 inches, but nothing like OP, where its 3/16th or something, 4-5mm.

1

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

We double checked and it is in fact closer to 1mm or something rather than the 3 we showed with the elastic band

4

u/TheRuinousPrince May 23 '26

Dude put the heating on it’s clearly cold in that room

4

u/Due-Essay9897 May 24 '26

Their widgets for the 2024 tournament scene were wrong too. Don’t worry. They can’t convert centimeters to inches. I can’t either, but I’m not a multimillion dollar company selling things at above top dollar, cuz of my “quality”

9

u/Dranzit28 May 23 '26

If you're upset by it being 1/8 of an inch off, you should see what the people building your fucking houses do.

6

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

We have slightly autistic behaviour sorry XD

3

u/GlennHaven May 23 '26

6 British inches

3

u/JesusHipsterChrist May 23 '26

Apropos of nothing, The Zero-point on your measuring tape is kind of great. I wish more had that.

3

u/pwetosaurus May 23 '26

There was already a Warcry ruler that has been ruled out because it wasn't the right length.

3

u/Steko May 23 '26

Correctly measure from the back of the tactical rocks and you’ll see it’s almost 7”.

2

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 24 '26

I even trimmed the tactical bush to be sure we see the whole tape T_T

3

u/tearikisdead May 24 '26

It's the girth for me 🤷

2

u/Mikenotthatmike May 23 '26

Is it? Or is your ruler? People find cheap rulers vary.

2

u/billysbrew Scout Squad May 23 '26

The hard plastic ones with the equipment pack are no better. Put the 3" side of the triangle up against the 6" ruler and see the GW magic at work.

2

u/dark-hippo May 23 '26

Dick jokes aside, I've found that the plastic ones that come with the kit aren't that accurate either, the 6" nor the... other shaped one with 1, 2 & 3" on

2

u/LordIndica May 23 '26

They are die cut cardboard, and not made to rigorous tolerances. The carboard is wrong.  Mine is also about 1/8th short of 6in

2

u/DarkMaster2522 May 23 '26

i bet it has a great personality

2

u/ADarkDongRises May 23 '26

ITS NORMAL SIZE AND FULLY FUNCTIONAL! That being said some tools don’t all quite match measurements, take another, 6inches if you will and compare side by side 😉

2

u/TopsyKretts87 May 24 '26

It's been like this since at least the 90s.

2

u/Seamus_the_shameless May 24 '26

Not directly relevant to your post, but I am curious what the nails have on them, if you'd care to share.

2

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

Haha no one noticed so far but my gf has some T'au letters written on them

2

u/Seamus_the_shameless May 25 '26

Oh, I noticed, but wasn't sure. Y'all have good taste. I'm happy for both of you!

1

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 25 '26

Thank you, we appreciate it :)

She plays Tyranid and I Tau so the next nails are Tyranid themed !

2

u/Terrible-Ad1555 May 24 '26

Not long and skinny , but short and thick

2

u/DucklingInARaincoat May 24 '26

I usually push the ruler in a little when I measure anyway

2

u/Magic_robot_noodles May 24 '26

Amazing how no one just clearly states that this is unnaceptable for a 6.8 billion dollar company.

That's just sloppy as fuck.

2

u/RevolutionaryRip2135 May 24 '26

You have to buy premium plastic ruler to unlock that 1/8”

2

u/mhbanz Chaos Daemon May 24 '26

IVE BEEN LIVANG A LIEEEEEEEEE

2

u/Ok-Expert5894 May 24 '26

You're not accounting for the curvature of the earth, where are abouta are you, should explain it. Totally avoidable if the metric system was used tbh

2

u/wargames_exastris May 24 '26

You’re right. It’s marked 6” but it’s clearly 9”.

2

u/Mortwight May 23 '26

T.M.I. measuring and calculation rules break down into the following factors:

  • Length: Measured in inches, starting by pushing the ruler completely back towards the stomach/base.
  • Angle: The degree of elevation of the tip off the body’s horizontal plane.
  • Girth: The flaccid diameter and erect circumference (often multiplied with length to establish volume).
  • Drift: The number of centimeters the penis curves or leans to the right or left.
  • Dead Weight: The mass of the appendages measured in kilograms (e.g., \(0.5\) kg).
  • Ball Position: The distance in centimeters the testicles sit from the base. [1, 2, 3]

2

u/Emotional_Yogurt3900 May 23 '26

Bro dropped the insinuation mid explanation XD

2

u/Mortwight May 23 '26

this is a bit from southpark

1

u/kristxworthless May 23 '26

Maybe your tape is wrong.

1

u/Wimsey99 May 23 '26

Is it cold in the house?

1

u/Content_Flower9859 May 24 '26

Are you sure you tape is actually not the wrong one, id suggest a second tape...to be sure

1

u/Desert_Ork_Tucson May 24 '26

Looks to be 5/32nds too short.

1

u/ColdDelicious1735 May 24 '26

So, can you measure your tape, that looks to be a plastic one and they distort easily over time.

1

u/Rhatsun May 24 '26

It's how you use it

1

u/Lolcanoe2 May 24 '26

they used correct measurement for sure.

1

u/Aniodia May 25 '26

Gotta break out the Official Warhammer Cardboard Stretcher™ to make sure you get the full and proper length for your cardboard ruler. Only £50 at your local Warhammer store!

-1

u/International_Ad2956 May 23 '26

Even chinsing out on cardboard is crazy. Next KillTeam box will be empty, labeled as supply your own models, and cost 249.99.

-4

u/Grizzack May 23 '26

If only GW and the community would embrace hex movement things would be so much simpler

4

u/FoolishFaust May 23 '26

They have with Underworlds which is, ironically, probably their best-rated game outside of the community. I probably wouldn’t hate that style of board for Kill Team movement since we’re already using a board but I think you’d still have to measure range for weapons etc.

1

u/Grizzack May 23 '26

I mean I've seen hex based games where you don't have to measure. This would require an entire system change though where terrain is built to incorporate height-based on the hexes and whatnot so it would invalidate most of the previous pieces. I just think if this was something they did it would streamline the game in a way where instead of this feeling like a smaller and sometimes more complicated 40K proper, it's its own thing.

1

u/FoolishFaust May 23 '26

You don’t measure range in Underworlds either, but there’s no terrain to contend with; it’s an open map. I agree it would make the game faster not having to measure movement, could definitely make the game stand out more. If they do that and find a way to simplify cover/obscure rules then the game could see wider adoption as an alternate to bighammer.

For the record, I don’t think cover/obscure rules are that complicated but it seems to be the biggest pain point for newcomers to the game.

2

u/Otherwise-Weird1695 May 23 '26

Hex is fine if you're ok with only moving at 45° angles. Kill team is way to precise for that, where 1/4" off can make you a valid target.

-7

u/Ok_Neighborhood2543 May 23 '26

americans and their inaccurate measurments . they will never understand the superior centimeter .

7

u/Otherwise-Weird1695 May 23 '26

You do know this was designed my a British company and made in the UK right?

-3

u/Ok_Neighborhood2543 May 23 '26

oh im on reddit i forgot to put on the " /s " . because you clearly cant take a joke

1

u/Maleficent_Mud9026 Aug 06 '26

Probably you measured on a cold day. You'll be fine, just turn on the heater!
