Misc Now I’m wondering if the Thunderhawk Wreck is going to be an expansion for the Armageddon terrain

Post image

The article says it’s “still a ways off in the future”, and it would make for a cool narrative mission.

Is this Battle for McRagge set part 2?

I was thinking this when it was revealed. They really did just want to make another plastic thunderhawk joke. again (was the legions imperialis one the last one?)

It was Aeronautica at the time. Legions hadn't released yet.

Oh good, I definitely need more NPO operatives.

I wish but it was shown as a battlefield terrain set like the starter set and standalone contents of the battle zone set. Most likely just some line of sight blockers, custom objectives for missions included in the box 🤞 something like that or a book with it, for big games or just a cool thing to put on the table.

Really cool terrain. It’s not all ruins now.

I mean… it’s still ruins, just vehicle ruins not building ruins. Or space hulk ruins. Or Tombworld ruins.

This is literally just rubble piles, 0 unique mechanics or vantage

L Shaped ruins were ubiquitous because they blocked LOS for a few inches in two axes in editions where sight = shot = shat on

What we really needed was 'Battlezone Bocage' terrain with a fuck load of hedges. C'mon GW.

L Shaped ruin also lets you have playable multilevel terrain without having to lift off roofs or abstract doors

Underrated point.

Our local group didn't use the verticality much in 10th, I'm looking forward to seeing if the BS buff and change to heavy (climb 1floor and still get it) makes the movement worth it (didn't before)

Sight shot shat still holds up in KT at the moment in most cases

Some parts seem like they could cause some issues with cover or obscuring, but as I’m not a competitive/tournament player, im certainly saving a bit of space and money for it.

I think it’ll be its own terrain kit. And the dreadnought and Rogal Dorn will be limited ones like the Saint Celestine statue.

I think they'll do what they seem to have been doing and make it all available as a separate box. I don't think they've had a season release yet where they release the start of season box with one set of terrain, and then change it for the killzone separate release. Could be wrong though.

Not officially, they dont work backwards like that (minus the oct terrain which is unprecedented but understandable, since it was v popular and ubiquitous)

I wish I could still get Octarius because I would love to play on it especially with the Exodites campaign having it in there missions. I just keep my eye out for a release of it as a kill zone with the rules they released

TTCombat makes a good Octarius alternative in MDF

Thank you for the tip! I will check it out. That, or I was planning on using sprues and junk to make something close. That should still feel like ork terrain

As the dread and Rogal D are destroyed terrain pieces in the latest Kill Team set, do we think this crashed Thunderhawk is a glimpse into the future?

Might be a summer of 'big shiz' with a Warhound Titan... maybe?

Valrak was rumoring that there was something to do with a warhound titan, whether it be a crashed version as terrain or the real deal full titan. Rumors are rumors though, so do with that as you will.

Thinking of using it in Necromunda ash waste as a Crashed Fist Thunderhawk

I was about to make the same post then I saw yours.

I love the idea of adding even more ruins all around but these pieces are so massive that you would skip half a terrain set (volkus or armageddon) to fit them all. The footprint area is not much smaller than the volkus buildings (considering the hanging parts) from what I can see. The hanging pieces are not that comfortable to use with Kill Team rules, especially that cannon on the top-left.

They may be some cool expansion for the next box, after this one but I have my doubts. They don't seem to offer that much narrative to be worth the box. However, if there was a box like the Typhon or even Devlan, with NPO, terrain (yes, there was none in Devlan but there was a fully articulated), Nemesis Operative, that would be amazing.

I would skip the Armageddon terrain set if this one was already available. If I can't get the terrain set from splitting with someone, maybe I'll do some smaller ruins myself with the still-packaged dreadnought brutalis and/or rogal dorn tank. They have been staring at me for several months from the shelf with a menacing look on their "boxes".

Unifying w40k and killteam in a way?

1

u/bullintheheather 28d ago

It's its own box.

I think every 40K and kill team release is build around Armageddon and I absolutely love it ❤️

They have really phased out the adding terrain expansions in the game this edition. There was nothing for TW and the tyranid terrain was more for NPO stuff than anything else.

Just waiting for the peixe to be dropped so i csn stset to save money for it. And more likely will make the effort to rebuild it as a full thunderhawk as a challenge to myself
