Edit: As some have suggested I have taken some of the ideas and suggestions from this discussion and petitioned GW through their official contact channels. Hopefully the visibility of this conversation impacts their strategy and they invest in better tools for the good of the game.

So, GW just shut down Battlekit, an incredibly well-made fan tool that over 30,000 Kill Team players were using to organize and manage rules.

For anyone unfamiliar, Battlekit made Kill Team playable in a modern way. Everything in one place, intuitive layout, easy access to the latest data. It wasn’t some shady leak site; it was a fan-built tool born out of passion for the game and frustration with how convoluted GW’s own systems are.

Instead of working with the creator or offering a compromise, GW simply shut it down. No conversation, no acknowledgment. The creator even reached out to them and got no response.

GW’s current “official” ways to access rules are an absolute mess:

• Constantly changing PDFs scattered across the web
• Rulebooks that go out of date within months
• Physical cards and maps that are limited, and impractical

Meanwhile, players have been holding this community together with tools like Battlekit that actually make the game enjoyable and manageable.

GW should be ashamed. This kind of corporate silence and hostility towards their most dedicated fans is unacceptable. If 30,000 players were relying on a single fan tool, that’s not a threat to your IP, that’s a sign you’re failing to serve your community.

They need to make a public statement, apologize, and seriously rethink how they treat fan projects and player resources. Because honestly, this kind of move makes me question whether I even want to keep supporting their game systems at all.

Why can't we have nice things...

My friends and I have been playing a lot of killteam while deployed. Limited internet access means we can’t always verify rules, so we decided to just roll a dice if we can’t decide on how a rule might work. 3s and below is no, 4 up is yes. We’ve started to introducing more “narrative”actions as well.

“Can I hug this guy and blow us both up with grenades?”

“Idk, roll two dice and if they’re 5 up, sure”

I want to know what fun, in house rules do you use to spice the game up

Ok so first off this is how I get my wife to play kill team. It’s changing some of the rules but tbh idc we’re playing at our kitchen table over some beers. She doesn’t like the intricacies of kill team rules so I try and make it simpler for her. We pick one strategy ploy that’s active the entire game for free. We don’t use firefight ploys and we only take our faction equipment for every slot so basically we only use command points for re rolls. Next is we only play engage order. Oh and we each get one free ladder to place wherever we want to during deployment. Idk man it’s pretty fun. Maybe it’s because I’m playing with her but it’s kind of nice to get someone who otherwise wouldn’t touch a war game to play with me.

Anyone else ever done something like this? If so what did you do. It’s kill team lite but it’s super fun to do and quick as well if you have kids or are crunched on time.

Hello, I’m pretty new to the Warhammer scene and I’m making my first army (its orks). I’m trying to get my hands on the new Ork Nobz kit before December and it seems the only way that’ll happen is if I get the new kill team set. So I’m looking for someone to split the box with, I’d take the orks, the ork grechin, and all their decals and you would take everything else. Not exactly sure on the total price of the set yet or how we’d split it percentage wise, but hit me up if you are interested.

I just wanted to shed some light on this terrible example of high tier tournament play and how this reflects on the competitive scene as a collective.

With the imagines above, you can see in Section 6. of the Squad-Games code of conduct that any sort of WITHHELD information can be yellow carded or red carded. That being said, over the span of 2-3 games i watched. (My ears couldn’t take anymore) A certain player that was playing Blades of Khaine in top placements either passive aggressively spoke to his opponents, or flat out lied to them. how this was not caught and flagged out? no idea. Couldn’t at least have the decency to lose gracefully (which he did) instead doubling down on arguments about the tac-op (Plant-beacon)

These top tables, at the biggest event in Killteam should have the highest level of competitive etiquette. Unfortunately, we don’t have those things, and for new players joining the competitive scene. And This being the representation? We have to do better… And to anyone that deals with that type of player on your table. Don’t feel like you can’t defend yourself speak up and call a TO.

Now that a lot of new Killteams have been released, I've been thinking about some teams I'd love to see someday, so I made this post to ask all the Killteam veterans: what team would you like to see in the future?

Ever since I first heard about this game, one team came to mind: a team of jungle fighters from Catachan, a group of veteran soldiers, incredibly tough, with heavy, destructive weapons and that "Special Forces Team in the Jungle" aesthetic—something like the commando team from the Predator movie. Strong guys with light machine guns, shotguns, knives, and tons of testosterone, maybe a rule related to their high adaptability and survivability. If they were released, I'd buy them immediately without hesitation.

Another team I'd like to see would be a group of Khorne Berzerkers. I imagine a group of veteran traitors wandering the galaxy in search of the strongest enemies of any army, a challenge that will earn them Khorne's favor, taking the skulls of incredibly strong enemies, a gladiator design with a lot of skulls and melee weapons.

Call it a „shower thought”, but it just occurred to me that the new „Titus and the wardens of ultramar” would make a fun kill team/should get KT rules. 7 operatives, 3 space marines, 4 humans would make it unique, models look great and honestly they look more like a kill team than a 40k unit. Waddaya think?

I thought they would sell the Murderwing Raptors as 5 and since the Chaos Lord in necessary and make you buy the $40 Chaos Lord by himself to play the team. But no, they just put him in there and raised the price to $84. I’m fine either way since I want more Raptors.

Also the name they picked is funny. I love their little poetic titles they give the Killteams. “Veteran Heretic Astartes” “Rampaging Beastmen Warherd” etc etc. I’m actually shocked they didn’t say “Heretic Astartes Aerial Shock Troops”. Still funny though.

1 Pink horrors: would have to be way less than the average squad size but it would really fun having to work around their splitting and warp trickery, I’d imagine they’d be low wounds like ratlings but have slightly better saves. Similar to Fellgor they would be mostly melee but have more ranged options

2: Serbery raider/sulphurhounds: a light and fast unit with a wide range of weapons and abilities. A medium range engagement team. I’m thinking like 10ish wounds.

3 Centurions: the space marine equivalent of Ravenors, but even smaller squad size. Slow, big, but a lot of wounds and firepower. Not sure if the assault squad or devastators would be more balanced due to weapon choices.

4 Sisters of Silence: no fan fair needed the elite of the humans. Basically the closest to a human elite team we could get. Have it be a mix of the sword and bolter gals, and some heavy weapons.

5: Court of the Archon: the most kill team coded units in all of wh40ks history. It has got a balance of unique operatives and would have some cool plays.

I love Elucidian Starstriders, but the team is honestly outdated and not even classified anymore. We need a new Rogue Trader team with a unique cast of minis as the crew. Would love something inspired by the rogue trader videogame or even the Blackstone Fortress minis repacked as a team.

While looking for a carry case, I found one similar to the one below, but since it was made in China, it was difficult to purchase, and I couldn’t even find the STL file. Has anyone seen an STL file or a similar archive?

I know most if not all wont happen but Hey It It doesnt happen its at least ideas for future homebrews to work on

Been avoiding these because I didn’t want to deal with the blind box crap, until I noticed the boxes each had their own individual code on the box, and realized it was an identifier. Wrote down the codes for anyone interested

The article says it’s “still a ways off in the future”, and it would make for a cool narrative mission.

Went 8-21-19 at my National tournament with my Tempestus Aquilons, beating Canoptek, Raveners, and Wrecka Crew.

GW also has a great organized play pack for Kill Team btw - got great art prints, objective markers, measuring thingy and a gorgeous medal!

I don't care if they need to make the boxes bigger or expand the MSRP range, I just want teams to be a one and done. I want every team box to have enough bodies and equipment to build all options out of the box and to have that all in one container.

Give me a 19 sprue IA box for $250 I do not care, I just want to be able to buy a single box and have the team.

Saw two copies of the full “sold out” Tomb World set in a FLGS on the south coast (UK) yesterday. But they’re not on the shop’s web store, which is probably why.

It did make me feel guilty, as I haven’t finished painting my copy yet…
