Rant PC Express has taken my money and won’t refund it

I was going on a camping trip October 2nd so I decided to order groceries for pickup on the way to the campground. They took the 125% which that’s okay. I opened my bank account when we returned with reception on October 5th. I realized they took out the actual bill in addition to the 125%. $326 taken out of my bank account for a $133 order.
I immediately reach out to customer service and they told me that I had to wait 10 business days before they’d do anything. On October 7, I received the difference from the bill and the 125% ($60.00). PC told me that it was up to my bank to deal with this as they refunded my pre authorization already. I called my bank and they have filed a dispute but told me that PC never put through the refund. PC is holding strong on “it’s the bank’s fault, not ours”. I’m still waiting to receive the $133 that PC owes me.

I have since switched my pharmacy as I was going to
Shoppers out of convenience, have canceled my Optimum card and fully intend to never step foot in a Loblaw owned store again. I understand mistakes happen, but why can they not just own up to their mistake, apologize and attempt to rectify this in a timely manner? Instead, I was left scrambling to figure out my budget due to their mistake and still haven’t received my refund, 18 days later.

WTFFFFF Does anyone listen in PC Express customer care?

First, I rarely swear, but come on Loblaw, I have been unable to release a grocery order to PC express going on 3 months. Numerous calls, too many yo contact, redundant fix suggestions, still with no resolution. Pathetic.

Why is this so important to me? I’ve used this service for years. Currently I’m raising my 3 year old grandson, helping a sister with Stage IV cancer, and have a daughter with two broken ankles. Lordy it is chaos.

But more importantly, if a service is offered they should stand behind the service.

And no, it is not a problem either way my Bank. Weirdly I had success ordering under one store banner but not another.

Suggestions welcome,

Galen, hear me!

Rant Rain checks!

Not sure if this has been discussed before, but just FYI that rain checks aren’t given for the “member” sale price, only for the non-member sale price!! For example at No Frills, there’s a sale for NN blocks of cheese for $2.99 which are of course all sold out, but the rain check is for the $4.88 non-member sale price, not the member sale price. Absolute bullshit.

So I guess I didn't actually open my app before a 100+ shop, got zero points, but they were still happy to scan my card and collect data. Pretty galling to get a scoldy email afterward too. Absolutely unethical and makes me think extremely poorly about the motives of this company.

Editing to add that a lot of people are misunderstanding this. I'm not actually mad about missing points. I just think it's wrong for a company to withhold rewards from customers who are actively participating in a program, in good faith, because of technicalities, while at the same time harvesting our data for their own profit and then subsequently trying to manipulate us into handing over even more with these "helpful reminder" tactics. And I do use their app, just not this time in the actual store because phone reception there is crap and I had originally intended to redeem, not earn. Their technical issue made me change my payment method.

Truly surprised by all the apologists here. I hope you don't complain once they remove the carrot and leave only the stick.

Would you guys still be ok with it if they presented it in a different, more truthful way? That the reward points "discount" is the real amount they can have you to pay them and still make profit, but if you don't shop how they want or if you like to keep your privacy, they will charge you MORE than those other shoppers.

Ontario - Urban Limit of 4 not really clear

I'm probably being a bit blind here...but when I went to checkout this morning with 9 bars of NN cheese, they only gave me the discount on 4 of them and charged the full $4.88 each for the other 5. I went back and returned the 5 at full price and the cashier seemed perplexed and then said "it must be a limit of 4". Should that not be disclosed? (or maybe it is and I'm just not seeing it).

🎄MERRY CRISIS 🎄 Rudolf bread commission percentage?

Recently Rudolf Bread was bought out in Canada. The company that bought Westons is selling the routes off to current Westons distributors. Any idea what the going commission range is and is it worth it in your opinion?

Discussion Feed the Poor

1.2k Upvotes

So I went to Superstore today. When they asked me at checkout to round up my bill from $98.41 to $99 to "feed the homeless," I asked them something different instead:

“Would you guys mind rounding down instead? That way I can just hand the extra cash directly to someone outside your store, or save it up to donate straight to the food bank or donate it to an NPO and get a tax receipt”

Unsurprisingly, they chose not to do that.

Funny how that works, considering the Weston family (who owns Superstore, Loblaws, and Shoppers Drug Mart) sits comfortably among Canada’s richest dynasties with a net worth over $20 billion. Maybe multi-billion-dollar grocery empires can fund their own community outreach instead of using our checkout lines for a corporate PR tax write-off. We need more competition in Canadian Food DESPARATELY. The Big Three have a complete Monoploy and they are killing us. Hopefully after the upcoming housing crash the food prices will drop as well....

Something to think about next time you're asked to round up.

BOYCOTT Finally got around to transferring out from Loblaws Pharmacy

I pretty much de-Loblawed myself last year, cancelled the credit card, spent all my points and cancelled my subscription.

I was holding onto the pharmacy because I quite liked the pharmacist that works there and I told myself it’s a step removed so it’s not really supporting Loblaws (it is, i was being dumb.)

After that ridiculous PC Health drone show I was incensed. Time came yesterday to refill a couple of my scripts and realized this is the perfect time to move to a more locally owned pharmacist.

It was very easy to transfer my prescriptions over for my partner and I, highly recommended.

Does anyone know if I have any recourse to have my personal information deleted from PC’s database? I’m a little unsure on the law surrounding that.

Update: Thrifty Foods issued me a full refund for the chicken, on a gift card. They were very apologetic, but the meat manager also clarified that it was not packaged at the store but at the farm (Sunrise?). The manager also had me forward the photo proof to him, so I hope it's escalated!

Edit: It's incredible to me how many of you are trying to discredit me 🥹 My scale was calibrated and I have checked my tare facts by phoning the BC Thrifty Foods store where I got this. I bought 1.2kg of chicken thinking I would cook 600g that night and freeze the other half. That's why I was weighing the chicken in the first place and noticed a discrepancy. Also, you will notice the chicken is inside a bowl, which too is tared. Someone said you guys love getting scammed by oligopolies and I could not agree more!

Original post: Not loblaws but Sobeys. Bought a tray of boneless chicken thighs from Thrifty Foods (where I shop quite a bit because it's close to my workplace). I had a feeling and... the actual quantity of chicken is 25% less than the label says!! Are they weighing the tray too!? I'm appalled, especially because of how overpriced the chicken already was. Going back to Thrifty's today to talk to customer service. Wonder how they'll resolve this?
