As far as I know you’re supposed to use the clip to load the magazine by ramming the bullets into the mag, not the full thing (see the raid at the bottom of the bullet)

or on some rifles like bolt actions, that new pistol from a year ago, the Autocannon from Helldivers 2 uses a clip, etc.

A clip is always used to load a magazine. You can't have one without another.

Edit: I worded this poorly, my apologies. I meant that even when a gun is reloaded via a clip, it still has a magazine. The clip is used to load the magazine. I wrote that because there is a misconception that weapon loaded primarily with clips (like WW2 rifles) don't use magazines but use clips. In reality the clip is simply used to load the magazine.
