The title works in either

It would’ve been “Wat nu?” instead of “Wat nou?” in Dutch. The word “nou” is less formal and more common tongue, so it’s not used in print like this.

Broski it still works. A newpaper title doesnt hace to be formal, especially if it is rather old. Dutch is my mother tongue, no need to explain its registers to me

I’m just saying you wouldn’t see a newspaper use “wat nou” in this way. BROSKI. It’s because Afrikaans was influenced by English (compare with “what now”).

Newspaper headlines always have to be formal especially if they’re rather old.

''wat nou'' isn't really written language in dutch, it's very often said like that but written is just ''wat nu''

That's just blatantly false: american vs british english would be more like dutch vs flemish, dutch and afrikaans have diverged much more

Dutch vs Flemish is more different than an english speaker could dream of
