The older I get, the more I do this, and every time I do, I feel a little better about myself lol not giving a shit is literally the road to happiness.

Sometimes I will do it when I'm trying to sleep, because typing a bunch of pointless shit helps me sleep

Yes...you write something logical and makes sense and someone reads it wrong and suddenly you get down votes and wish you had just skipped the comment in the first place. Almost done commenting in the first place as it comes out of left field on the most innocuous of comments.

95% of what I have to say has never been said, because arguing with stupid people is worse than dying of the worst disease in all of the Universes combined.

I just cant stand how so many men on reddit just keep writing the exact same thing in different words over and over.
Dead give away they are just regurgitating and there is in fact no goods up top.

Blast your opinion onto reddit, “stop reply notifications” move on with life

The juice just isn’t worth the squeeze, you just know wading in with a different opinion is going to draw a bunch of aggro and end up with arguments with chucklefucks on the internet.

I've been doing this so much recently, writing helps develop your thinking and understanding what you think, but not sending the message means you won't have to deal with someone answering. I almost didn't send this message either lol

i once wrote a mini thesis, citing sources and everything just to prove how wrong the other guy was, then i realized dumb people stay dumb and i never sent the comment despite being already written.

Hitting delete on a 20-minute essay is the healthiest thing I’ll do all year

Suddenly you picture Chinese agents on a phone bot farm gleefully smiling and talking shit to 20 people at the same time.
Fear/anger engagement machine.

The brain is meant to express thoughts not hold on to them

u/designerlemons 5h ago
Reddit, and more broadly the internet is a constant reminder that many, many men should be expressing their thoughts to themselves haha

This meme has saved me so much time. Every time I wanna express my views in a comment, it comes to mind and I just close the tab lol

u/Gravyboat44 5h ago
So many times I get through a comment but I start to wonder how I can word it in a way where it's not misunderstood or doesn't piss anyone off, and the extra brain power makes me realize it's not worth it anymore.

The older you get the more this happens because on one hand you mature and have knowledge you can share through the experience you get in life, but at the same time that same experience tells you the best way to avoid unnecessary stress is to pick your battles and the way social media and the internet in general works arguing with a stranger can be a colossal waste of time.

Happens to me on Twitter too, I'm so tired of arguing about nosense or stuff I cannot make the other person comprehend.

And it’s probably a bot that is going to respond to said comment if you posted it

I don't remember if I ever had an argument here and one of us said "yeah, you changed my mind".
So it's often pointless

I've never spent twenty minutes writing something on reddit. That's just insanity.

The exact moment inner peace hits you harder than winning the argument
0
u/Radyschen 6h ago
it's not really an argument anyway and you can't win, that would require a genuine interest in having a valid logical argument and then criticizing the premises of the other person and having a real intellectual conversation. Most conversations anywhere (and I mean 99%) are biased people shouting catchphrases of their position at each other, it doesn't lead to anything, even if you are "right"

If you ever reconsider, reddit keeps track of the most recent 20 that you deleted/abandoned in Drafts for 2 weeks

Yeah, I'll write out a comment and realize I don't care about any responses and delete it. It was just good to get the thoughts out of my system
