u/4024-6775-9536 Aug 03 '26
It costs a lot to look poor
38
u/ChildoftheApocolypse Aug 03 '26
I don't know, I'm poor and I look poor and I haven't spent more than $50 total on clothes in 15 years..
I think it costs a lot to be dumb ..
16
u/-PizzaPapi Aug 03 '26
To be fair, spending $50 total on clothes since 2011 is pretty wild as well. Respectfully.

u/MoistStub Aug 03 '26
I am a 30 year old man and still wear most of the same wardrobe I had in high school. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I have had to buy a couple pairs of khakis and button downs for when I need to look nice on occasion. Why would I need more than that?
6
u/FlyUnder_TheRadar Aug 03 '26
Bruh, im a 31 year old man and I'm at least 60 pounds heavier than I was in high school. I have some scattered shirts from high school ive kept for sentimental reasons, but there is no way in hell I'd fit into most of my clothes from 15 years ago. Plus, clothes wear out and my own personal style preferences have swung pretty widely since I was a teenager. Idk how the hell you have kept a wardrobe for that long unless you exclusively bought high end heritage quality clothing as a kid.
2
u/Rando_Cruzzer Aug 04 '26
For me it's the same. I have clothes from high school but I've somewhat maintained my weight. Even though I do have a gut

What about me slicing big holes in my white shirt & attaching a rope to it while I drag it around driving my pickup?

I would fully expect everything at a shop called 'Aged Bodega' to be overpriced.

Before you point the finger you should know that I'm the man.

19
u/nudiecale Aug 03 '26
Damn, I came up in the 90s and had probably 150 band shirts that got blown out like this. I thought I was being thrifty by using them as rags around the house. Turns out I could have opened a boutique and put both of my kids through college.
7
u/schermerhorse Aug 03 '26
Itās precisely because you used them as rags that this one is now being sold for $800. If everyone saved them they wouldnāt be worth so much.

Dollars or pesos?
If it's Mexican pesos, it's still US$46
If it's Argentine pesos, it's only US .54Ā¢.

Dollars

Remember when thrift and vintage shops were actually good deals and not this bullshit based on unrealistic eBay prices?
2
u/ILikeMyGrassBlue Aug 04 '26
Many still are. This place is a vintage clothing store in NY that focuses on rare stuff.
5
u/Carolina-W00Dsman Aug 03 '26
Probably still smells like raw onions and hot dogs too. Its a used t-shirt, not a status symbol.

I remember seeing on reddit recently about the value of Elvis memorabilia and how it has absolutely cratered in the past few decades. The number of people who grew up with his music dwindles every day. Same will happen here.
2
u/Rustmonger Aug 03 '26
Things are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If thereās some moron with $800 who likes that shirt enough, power to the person selling it.

How do you even know if its actually vintage and not a cheap reproduction from like 2015 hot topic or something ? I guess it really doesn't matter, to me its not worth $8 even if I was into vintage clothes and were rich I think that's just too far goneĀ
