Ruined by Technology Youtube replacing comments with AI summary

Post image

Sliding the comment card left and right both shows AI crap instead of just the comments. Just give me human interactions ffs.

That's what killed me with Google recently arguing for their need to expand datacenters because they saw a massive increase in usage, and all I could think was "well yeah, you just replaced Assistant with Gemini on millions of devices with no way to opt out".

this doesn't really make sense

google is selling compute to other companies, and they've got a backlog to the tune of $400,000,000,000. on top of increasing yoy (year over year) quarterly revenue by insane percentages

google can not keep up with demand for the compute they provide. they're borrowing money to build more to just be able to accept the cash that customers are trying to hand them, they are beyond successful at this particular point in time. they're not the ones needing to farce up the whole thing like some other companies

e: keep in mind, google literally started this whole ai thing. their transformer architecture white paper enabled openai to create chatgpt (google said they thought the "hallucinations" were too risky to go public with, sam altman didn't give a fuck tho). they own the entire ai stack from top to bottom. the TPUs, the data centers, the algorithms, the devices it all runs on... if anybody wins at ai it's not unlikely that it's gonna be google
