wet socks Applied for a job yesterday got a notification yesterday for an interview today 10:30. They email me today to update us, its now a 6½ hour long field day from 10:30- 5:00pm

Post image

The email said only said 10:30 am at the community center. Not that it would last 6ish hours.

Not to mention, the email says the location is Hebbron Family Center, but then the map they specifically tell us to reference shows General Stilwell Community Center, which is a completely different location like 40 minutes away. 😭

And I literally got a text this morning saying, “Get ready for your interview from 10:30" only to get an email shortly after that basically said, surprise! It’s a whole field day until 5 PM. I am so confused lol.

Do you, by chance, know where I can buy Amway products? Or maybe I should ask you after 5pm tomorrow.

Or life insurance.

I’m in the market for a new vacuum and a set of knives.

57

u/bippityboop56754 Sep 02 '26

I applied for a job and got an “interview” in college. I show up and it was a MLM knife scheme. I sat through it with like 10 other people. Then the interviewer pulled everyone in individually to pretend like you didn’t get the job then tell you you did with some pizazz. Then a girl accidentally cut the tip of her finger off during a voluntary knife demo.

My mom used to sell Kirbys. Give them shit all.you want but they are durable.

20

u/sharkbait-oo-haha Sep 02 '26

Their made from all cast aluminium and steel. Heavy AF but there's hardly any plastic anywhere on them. If they made a modern Dyson style stick vac with the same cast aluminium quality they would actually be incredible. I could see them selling themselves without the mlm scam tactics. It's a good product, it's just 50 years out of date.

Amway still exists? My parents were distributors back in the 80s. Can't believe they're still a thing.

23

u/Halseymoon Sep 02 '26

Yeah I have two co workers that are sucked into it doing it on the side lol

9

u/VenturaDreams Sep 02 '26

One of my direct reports is in the Amway game, and they keep trying to get me to buy their stuff. I refuse out of principle, but they act like they won't have to work again because they have such a huge downstream.

6

u/Halseymoon Sep 02 '26

We are servers and the 6 years I’ve known them they’ve tried to get everyone in the restaurant into it. We call it their little cult. They always tell us “this time next year we won’t be working here we’ll be doing this full time” is what I’ve heard for the last 6 years haha. They try to sell it to all of us as well, some people buy it out of pity it seems

They have some offshoots under different names but it's all the same products. I was suckered into "Quickstar" early 2000's. Went to one of their conferences, looked around and saw what it was, a Cult and got TF out of there.

It’s a scam, super obvious given the format and turnaround time. They’re trying to get you into a MLM

1.3k

u/sarahaflijk Sep 02 '26

They're listing on-boarding activities as part of the 6 hour "interview," so you know they're taking everyone who's willing to buy in to their shit.

243

u/euph_22 Sep 02 '26

Regardless, applying on Monday then an in-person interview on Wednesday is pretty obviously sketchy. Especially if there wasn't any kind of phone screen.

125

u/CertifiedSheep Sep 02 '26

That’s normal for lots of low-skill work. Fast food for example will do exactly that - usually won’t have onboarding the same day though lol

Depends on the industry. Automotive is desperate for mechanics, has been for a while. I applied to my current job at 4pm, got a call at 6pm, had an interview at 11am the next day, and had the job at noon. (They had me at “the shop is air conditioned” honestly)

The job isn’t perfect by any means (what job is honestly) but i’ve furthered my career here and made good money.

It's doesn't cost MLM anything to "hire" people since you have to budget for everything yourself and your whole comp is commission. So yeah they'll accept anyone with a pulse, doesn't hurt them if you make 0 sales or 1 sale or whatever. Free money for them.

34

u/euph_22 Sep 02 '26

In fact everyone they "hire" has to buy the starter kit or whatever so everyone they hire is a new customer even if they never make a sale themselves.

131

u/idriveashitbox22 Sep 02 '26

Yup lol. I did this once. The first round they got rid of the well dressed people. Next round they asked questions then got rid of the people with common sense. Then they offered the rest of us the job. I was 18 and dumb as hell. It was CutCo knives. They are like you have to buy 400 dollars worth of knives if you want the job. I'm like nah lol.

15

u/youruinednycforme Sep 02 '26

Same exact thing happened to me when I was in high school. Glad to know the experience is universal lol

7

u/InstanceLeading56 Sep 03 '26

To be fair, they are great knives.

5

u/robgod50 Sep 03 '26

Similar thing happened to me.....London, UK. I was probably 20ish. Lasted until lunch time from what I remember, then walked out when I still didn't know what the hell the job was.

5

u/Mtnbkr92 Sep 03 '26

Hilariously one of the best salespeople I’ve worked with was a former Cutco guy lol. Was like number one in his region and got a Rolex sub out of it. I worked with him after that and I will say he was good at his job.

What's an MLM?

68

u/IronDominion Sep 02 '26

Multi level marketing scheme. It’s basically a pryamid scheme where they promise you all these benefits of running your own business selling their product, and making money on sales and recruiting other people into the scheme. In reality you lose a lot of money and make basically nothing. Think Herbalife or other companies like that

Sounds like an MLM interview setup

3.2k

u/Saneless Sep 02 '26

Yep. Walked around with these bozos all day and a couple hours in I knew this was a scam

Especially when after my shitty attitude towards them got even worse they were like "Soooo, talked to the big dog and he thinks you're great for this!" Nonsense

So I peppered him about W4, benefits, vacation, all that and he squirmed a bit but man, it was all shit

743

u/JVBPDX Sep 02 '26

I got sucked into an interview day for one by a friend once. Left and did some googling and found out what was really going on. When they called to set up a start date and I told them to cancel it they acted like I kicked their puppy

118

u/mayonnaiseplayer7 Sep 02 '26

My first ever job interview was with Primerica. I didn’t know what it was and thought it was a real job. I was 19 at the time.

They asked about my strengths and weaknesses and experience and I gave a lot of half-assed answers since I didn’t know how to respond to them. I told them about my “work experience” helping my dad with odd jobs, chore work at a doctor’s office when I was twelve, and voting poll work.

After some consideration they were ready to offer me a job but that offer raised a red flag. So I did some research and learned what Primerica was and didn’t go back lol

67

u/dragonchilde Sep 02 '26

It wasn’t my first, but I got hit with a Cutco “group interview.” I realized something was up with the boss guy pulled up in a cab wearing an ill fitting suit, and the place was in an old HR block office with the signage still up.

16

u/settlingconch Sep 03 '26

I too have had the Cutco interview. I realized it was a scam when my interviewer unprompted mentioned "sure you can Google Cutco and scam and get 1000 results, but you can do that with any company."

It was when he mentioned "so you sell knives to your 6 friends, ans then your 6 friends get their friends to buy knives" where I interrupted him and said "no dude you're not getting, my 6 friends friends are the other 5 people and me. We are a circle jerk of friendship" where I was certain I would not be getting hired.

39

u/IndependantWild7458 Sep 02 '26

I got suckered by cutco for a while in college. It was fun for a minute and I got to keep all the knives, so it wasn’t so bad. I hate the way they do it, but I have to admit that they have good knives.

I did one of those for Primerica at 19 too. I think they get everybody.

4

u/chacacon Sep 02 '26

Primerica got me too when I was in my early 20s. Had just moved to a new town, my daughter was a toddler and I was looking for work. A random girl struck up a conversation with me about boxed cake mix in the grocery store and gave me her card. Went to one orientation and was like no thank you. Was pressured by everyone to stay, kept trying to leave and finally was able to. Had multiple calls from primerica afterwards that I ignored. A few days later two of the guys that had run the presentation/orientation showed up AT MY APARTMENT. My then husband told them to never come back again and thankfully they never did. But imagine if I had lived alone? Terrifying. I felt like I was being hunted!

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!! My friend also asked me to help her out by showing up for an interview (luckily it was on Zoom so I didn’t have go anywhere in person) but during the interview I knew something was up when I asked on my friend’s behalf how much is the pay and they said she gets paid based on sales so I knew it was a MLM scam. She did apologize afterwards as she didn’t realize they were trying to recruit me too during the interview and also not knowing it as an MLM too.

u/Cracleur Wanna know what is mildly infuriating ? The maximum length of th Sep 02 '26

Wait, she asked you to join her for a job interview, and she didn't realize or think that you'd be seen as interested in the job too? Did I get that right? Or am I missing something? Like, what kind of job interview lets you bring a buddy along?

32

u/Southern_Drawing7996 Sep 02 '26

I used to work as a mentor for young adults with special abilities and you could go along to interviews with them.

40

u/NorwichBro Sep 02 '26

3

u/HelpHugMe Sep 03 '26

Yes that’s correct. (With asking to join her job interview and did not realize I would be asked to join too). If I remember correctly, I think they wanted to see her skills as a presenter and she needed to ask someone to join the call so she can present to someone. I honestly don’t remember how I got roped in but I did and it was wild lol

5

u/Cracleur Wanna know what is mildly infuriating ? The maximum length of th Sep 03 '26

I'm guessing the real reason they're asking people to bring someone else to the interview is actually because it's one more person to try to recruit. Like, you don't actually need another person to present to. You can do it perfectly fine to the interviewer.

44

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace Sep 02 '26

I remember doing one of these and walking around with them and look in them in the eye and going, dude who buys DirecTV from some random bozos who come walking up to them off the street, and the reply was you'd be surprised. Spoiler alert, I was not surprised.

10

u/Saneless Sep 02 '26

Mine wasn't even interesting. It was like one of those coupon books boy scouts sell or some stuff. I think someone tossed them leftovers to clear

11

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace Sep 02 '26

That seems easier at least. The guys I was with managed to convince like 10 people to buy, but only 1 had good enough credit to pass the check. They lost money that day and then tried to convince me to join the team. I mean I had a car so I can see why.

141

u/GiraffesAndGin Sep 02 '26

So I peppered him about W4, benefits, vacation, all that and he squirmed a bit but man, it was all shit

Lol, I worked in an MLM office right out of college and I used to hate getting the people who knew what was up for interviews. I had to pretend to sell the job, and in the end, I was always just like, "Look, you know what's going on. I know what you're thinking. Let's just call this what it is and get you out of here."

Don't miss that job one bit. Except for Black Friday/Thanksgiving weekend. I used to make money hand over fist those 4 days.

34

u/BE46ST Sep 02 '26

Maybe I’m missing the obvious, but why Thanksgiving and Black Friday specifically?

50

u/GiraffesAndGin Sep 02 '26

People are out and about and buying. Or at least they were years ago when I worked in an MLM. I did door to door and big box retail stores, so getting assigned to a place like Best Buy or Walmart for Black Friday was a gold mine. I'd walk out at 9PM with dozens of orders and thousands in commission.

27

u/PeaGroundbreaking886 Sep 02 '26

So you were like the AT&T, water, gutters and T-Mobile people at Costco?

43

u/GiraffesAndGin Sep 02 '26 edited Sep 02 '26

Yep, that was me. Except I sold Xfinity and Spectrum and Frontier.

If you lived in the Chicago/Michiana area 10 years ago, there's a good chance a dorky white dude in a badly fitted suit and way too skinny tie pitched you for one of these services. That was me.

8

u/-ChasingOrange- Sep 02 '26

Definitely seasonal help when brick and mortar stores still mattered during Black Friday. I used to pick up seasonal jobs around that time of year when I was younger because it was quick and easy money most of the time, and no strings attached because you were done as soon as Black Friday ended. Those jobs don’t really exist like they used to outside of major cities and niche markets anymore, or are more on the logistics end of things than front-end retail.

I had a similar interview. I thought it was an advertisement agency where I could do some graphic design work.

NOPE! As it turns out, it was standing in a Walmart all day advertising the internet/TV service they were selling.

What made it worse was that at the end of it, they wanted to bring me on and hire me. I told them I needed like two weeks cause it was an hour and a half drive for me just to get there (it was in a different city). The guy told me that saying that, it was a bad inflection on him and that it would look bad for him. He wanted me to start immediately lol.

9

u/Saneless Sep 02 '26

Such weird pressure..

One of the guys in our group was a kid literally right out of college. He was so excited. I told him what was up but he was sucked in for some odd reason

It was mostly guys in their early 20s and the random 50 year old who didn't know what to do with his life

I got suckered into interviewing for one of these things. Got pulled into the follow-up interview and it was driving with the interviewer and another candidate to a store to walk through their sales pitch. On the way back to the office to get my car I peppered the interviewer with benefits questions. When he didn't have any good answers I didn't even go back into the office when we got there. I just left.

This was exactly my experience applying at an Amazon warehouse. What I thought was an interview was essentially just orientation day. 20 other people showed up, and at the end I was like, “I have the job, right?” Lol.

Spoiler alert: we ALL got the job on the spot...

79

u/Technical_Stand9939 Sep 02 '26

places that are hiring a lot of people all at once.

i think I read somewhere a few years ago that at the pace amazon was hiring, they would employ (or have employed) everyone in the US in the next 20 years. They churn people quick. it pays just enough that there are people interested, but the metrics to keep pace as so bad that few survive for a long time.

12

u/she_is_recalibrating Sep 02 '26

Both of my engineer sons have been employed by Amazon at one point so this tracks! But that’s only 50% of our family.

→ More replies (1)

31

u/resumehelpacct Sep 02 '26

For places like amazon, it's easier for them to hire you, do drug and background tests, and let you wash yourself out than to do any sort of real interviewing. Like what are they going to quiz you for all day that requires them to meet as a group internally and decide to hire you?

I appreciated it at the time, I needed a job and they needed a body.

Reminds me of Vector Marketing

99

u/ShiningRedDwarf Sep 02 '26

I had a similar experience with Vector. They rented out a trailer and a bunch of us sat down like it was a classroom, and they proceeded to do their “presentation” followed by the first round of “interviews”. I was only 18 at the time and this was well before I had the internet in my pocket, but I knew bullshit when I smelled it, and I knew I was being held captive to some degree.

Told them I was diabetic and had to go grab an insulin shot out of my car. It got me out the door without struggle. About 5 minutes later they proceeded to blow up my phone. They left about 4 or 5 messages that grew from concerned to enraged.

Fuck Vector 🖕

6

u/french_snail Sep 02 '26

I almost got roped into vector when I was 18 too, luckily my mom was suspicious and read the emails. Saved me a trip that day

52

u/OcularPrism Sep 02 '26

Ugh vector. That was a terrible interview.

60

u/justanawkwardguy you do it like this Sep 02 '26

You mean you don’t want to sell cutco knives door to door??

29

u/the_zero Sep 02 '26

Hey, friend. No worries about that. These babies sell themselves! Start with your friends and family…

13

u/SesquipedalianCookie Sep 02 '26

I remember being baffled by the fact that they couldn’t understand why I, a woman, would not want to go strangers’ houses to sell them knives.

Interestingly, a good friend of mine ended up working for them for a while running an office and everything, and she liked it, but I mocked her relentlessly.

15

u/the_zero Sep 02 '26

I had a college buddy that I had not seen in years asked to come by and visit me and another college friend. We were like, cool, would love to catch up. We got some beer, food, and were ready to head out after. He came by, gave us the script, and left. Such a letdown.

Anyway, somehow he’s a neurosurgeon now 🤷‍♂️

16

u/stuffeh Sep 02 '26

I agree. But since it's start of midterms, there's a chance it's political canvassing.

46

u/sandbag747 Sep 02 '26

It's possible it isn't. When I got my current job the place was just opening and needed a ton of staff to get going. My initial interview was scheduled early in the morning, I was offered a job on the spot and onboarded same day.

Started with an interview, signing the offer letter, drug test, physical, background check, fingerprints, everything needed to start.

It turned into a very long day but I left with the job with the best employer I've had, which finally got my into my field

27

u/Technical_Stand9939 Sep 02 '26

i have done the same thing; and this is one of 3 things:

  • MLM
  • new employer that needs staffed up quickly (ie a new McDonalds may need to hire 30 people all at once depending on transfers)
  • a messy job. for me this was working with the elderly. If you could not change a diaper of a 90 year old man- this was not the job for you- so almost everyone got past the interview, but 75% walked out during the trial run when they realized that is the sort of thing you would be doing.

And if OP travels somewhere with the group, they won't be able to leave without calling an Uber

33

u/HawaiianShirtsOR Sep 02 '26

That happened to me before rideshare existed, in a city where I never saw a taxi. Had to tough it out all day, but I just followed the "lead" trainer guy assigned to me, and I called the manager to angrily quit the next morning.

8

u/Technical_Stand9939 Sep 02 '26

you are nicer than most- i would suspect that a lot of people just no show.

18

Got tricked/stuck when I was young and naive right after HS doing the same thing with Kirby when I got dropped off. I said that this wasn't what I signed up for and she institute they still take me out to the lunch I was promised. CiCi's Pizza. I asked to be taken back several times and then I got pissed and demanded. I am VERY nonconfrontational and it takes a lot to push me past my chill, but I was pissed

Group field activities and confusing location sounds to me like this is a shady company, either door-to-door salesman where they’ll just take you straight to a street to start selling or they’re going to pitch some MLM.

If this job is not supposed to be an active outdoor job (like camp counselor, rec center, sports coach, etc.) then I would not go.

13

u/rtowne Sep 03 '26

I had an interview booked for a "sports marketing" job listing that ended up going in a very unexpected direction. I was asked to meet them at a field event and they were just at a tent by a gas station selling a spray cleaner bottle. The interview was very similar to MLM style where they try and use mind tricks to get you interested while your rational mind is screaming "wtf is going on here"

u/Awkward-Sir-4009 Sep 02 '26

What job did OP apply for? This sounds like some door to door sales bs.

CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU made it to the next round where we will tell you what the job is. Repeat until a few desperate souls are left.

What kind of place is this? Seems like something those scummy phone network sales companies would do

53

u/Waxstaa Sep 02 '26

I'd probably accept and then not show up. Who the fuck thinks six and a half hours for an "interview" is acceptable?

21

u/Fragrant-Employer-60 Sep 02 '26

You totally can but they expect people to not show up anyway, it’s all a numbers game and they want you in the room.

I’ve accidentally attended a group interview virtually because they lied about what the job was, so I just dropped from the call once I realized what it was and they never followed up with me lol

7

u/GlowingDuck22 Sep 02 '26

I did the same thing. Got a interview and when I walked in the door saw dozens of other people and group interviews. I could tell my Ahole from my elbow so I made it pretty far in the interview process.

I finally got to the point where they put a number in front of me. Told the guy, thanks but I think I can make more money elsewhere. Got up and left.

It was absolutely a pyramid scheme.

This is probably door to door since active wear is needed. But there's a chance it's political canvassing since it's that time of the year.

u/realdappermuis Sep 02 '26

It's not an interview :(

It's a recruiting event. Got trapped in some of that at some point - they're going to ask you to pay to register at some point probably too. Desperate ones will pay and waste a whole day

All agencies are a waste of time. Especially ones that ask you do any kind of test to add you to a database

They use the database to sell their services to clients as ' we have so many candidates ready to go ' and then if they get a new job listing they'll advertise it. Looking at the database is too much effort

Try not to feel discouraged by shit like this. 90% of jobs advertised and rejections receives are for fake jobs

If you have any special skills you can try looking up companies that do that and email them directly

Don't trust a company that lumps together interviews and onboarding. Either the bar is low to the point that it's a scam or they have such a churn problem where they just need people in seats now. Either way, red flags.

9

u/Bgrngod Sep 02 '26

The only time this is ever acceptable is if it's for high volume retail where zero experience is expected, and your ability to show up on time on schedule is all they are focused on.

30

u/Confident-Skin-6462 Sep 02 '26

this sounds shady

20 years ago my buddy had an “interview” like that. They dropped him off in a random chicago spot and he and the “interviewer”’tried to sell paper to businesses door to door

21

u/Mcpops1618 Sep 02 '26

I applied for a job with a VR startup in Covid. I passed a phone interview and was asked to come in for a formal interview with the team

It was schedule for 90 minutes, first 30
Meeting with the team I’d be on, discussing experience, fairly standard.

Next they I’d be running through a test of their equipment. So strapped into a VR and was paired up with 2 other people with very little instruction

Stage 3 talk to the owners who make the final decisions. First question “how do you think you fared in the sim” me “great, I won, high score, learned quickly how to operate and what the goals were”

Question two “why didn’t you work with others?”

I explained to them that we were given no instruction on team success and I assumed I was beating people who were applying for the same type of role.

Turns out I was paired up with an HR person and an accountant and me being hyper competitive and whoopin’ ass wasn’t the goal. Didn’t get the job, but definitely a funny story to tell about weird interviews

lol I got scammed into going to one of these 'interviews' in my mid 20s. Got there and didn't realize it was going to be a group thing. I can't even remember what I was applying for, but I do remember it ended up being a door-to-door sales thing for a new vacuum cleaner (my roommate had it at the time and loved it but absolutely not-I am not a sales person). As soon as we broke for a snack break, after they gave their sales pitch on the product, I got in my car and left as fast as I could. Soooo yeah, unless you want to sell something, don't go.

11

u/UmphreysNerd Sep 03 '26

Yeah dude been down this road and trust me when I say they will make you work for free for a day if you let them. Field work is door to door sales. They need the head count for transportation. They’ll get you into cars and drive you an hour or more away and have you going door to door in some random ass neighborhood. Do not show up for this trap.

that is a chat-gpt response and format, probably a scam or scam adjacent.

8

u/Crazyblue09 Sep 03 '26

When I apply to a job and hear back the same day, it usually means it's a crappy job.

8

u/moxiemooz Sep 02 '26

Any event that highlights “snacks” as something special, I’m out.

7

u/PlatypusDream Sep 02 '26

Sounds like "not a place a reasonable person would want to work".

Changing the time

Changing the location

Short notice

All-day, unpaid

"Snacks" for an all-day event

7

u/PhazePyre Sep 02 '26

Regardless of what the job is:

  • These will be the communication standards of your employer if you got the job.
  • This will be how much they respect you as an individual that they won't be clear.
  • This will be the attention to detail your colleagues will demonstrate.

End of the day, you have to ask yourself, do you want to work at a place that doesn't communicate clearly or accurately, and acts like a job fair is an interview.

8

u/Holmes02 Sep 03 '26

You know how spam emails that are loaded with spelling errors go out and try to trick you? The reason being is that they filter out skeptical targets (and get through filters).

If you’re gullible enough to fall for an error-ridden spam email, you’re probably gullible enough to give them money.

The same logic is being applied here. If you’re desperate enough to show up for a six-hour last-minute interview, you’re probably gullible enough to ‘work for’ whatever scam this is.

8

u/Correct_Ad_7751 Sep 03 '26

Sounds like a pyramid scheme or selling things or services door to door. It happened to me they made it seem something else. And it was selling sports tickets and food rewards. I took off after 30mins.

8

u/Raebur16 Sep 03 '26

This sounds like that company that used to recruit on college campuses for people to come interview to sell those stupid knives back in the early 2000’s… I don’t remember the name of the place, but I went for an interview when I was in college (2006ish) and it turned into an all day thing. I had to lie and say I had to be at work to get to leave. They were trying to get me to sign documents to agree to front a lot of $$$ to buy these stupid knife sets then go door to door to sell them… Think “MLM when Facebook was only for college students” and not as it is now… Sounds super scammy!

7

u/know-your-onions Sep 03 '26

Onboarding doesn’t happen at interview. You first need to be given an offer and the opportunity to consider it.

This isn’t legit. I wouldn’t attend. If you do, let us know what it really was. Pyramid scheme?

Whatever you do, don’t hand over any money.

6

u/pokiepika Sep 02 '26

Why does this sound like door to door sales?

5

u/onyxa314 Sep 02 '26

Like others have said this is a scam

6

u/RPS93 Sep 02 '26

As others have said this is either an MLM scam or it’s a call centre/ telecom company doing mass hiring for CSR or entry level repair work (cable/phone/internet).

I worked for one of the biggest telecoms in the country briefly once and this was how I was hired - showed up for what turned out to be a group interview, was hired on the spot. Did two of the three weeks of training and realized it was going to be an absolute shit show and not even entirely safe. Collected my pay and bailed out.

7

u/SadPromotion5795 Sep 03 '26

However… snacks included

6

u/THE_HORKOS Sep 03 '26

My last job was for a Fortune 500 tech company. I was interviewed all day. 6 back to back interviews with all directors. I’m only saying this because if it’s for something like flipping burgers I would not do that.

6

u/PSXer Sep 02 '26

So, presumably you'd be paid for that onboarding, right?

→ More replies (2)

5

u/adrielluiz5 Sep 02 '26

6

Company name?

6

u/Anleme Sep 02 '26

Unpaid work? No breaks? No lunch? Illegal three different ways.

5

u/Cleverfawn123 Sep 02 '26

when I was living in Florida I was applying to warehousing jobs either forklift certified or shipping / receiving manager positions. I went to this interview and we met in a warehouse and it turns out it was a job going door to door selling food subscriptions to people. I asked the person who was in charge where the job was and he looked at me and said "Oh, you'll make much more money doing this. This is the job." I laughed and walked out.

If you have to lie or deceive people to work for your "company" its already off to a bad start.

6

u/Ok_Frosting_6438 Sep 02 '26

Door to door sales...that's why it's this long. All commission.

5

u/ErisTerrace Sep 02 '26

If you haven't paid attention to the other warnings...this is a pyramid scheme not a job interview.

5

u/unicornsnrainbows67 Sep 02 '26

this looks like cutco, aka Vector marketing. don’t waste your time 😅🫠

4

u/juliazale Sep 03 '26

MLMS are crazy money robbing cults. I hope you stay clear of them.

5

u/OphidianSun Sep 03 '26

Any job that asks me to show up with "positive energy" can immediately fuck off. That shit sets off my bullshit detector like a geiger counter in chernobyl.

6

u/IcyCantaloupe7004 Sep 03 '26

This is clearly a scam job or an MLM/pyramid sales job at best. 🚩

8

u/TequilaAndWeed Sep 02 '26

Actually this isn't a bad email, if one reads the details. If you don't pass the first round of interviews, go home. If you don't pass the second round, go home. Otherwise, you're going to go through onboarding. Sounds better to me than interminable rounds of interviews with no clarity on being hired.

And if it's bullshit, you don't have to stay.

5

u/adventurepaul Sep 03 '26

Spoiler: Everyone passes through to the next stage, minus the ones that realize what's going on and go home early.

5

u/armorabito Sep 03 '26

The fact you can adapt without complaining about the last minute change is a major part of the interview. I once was flown 500 kms away from my city for a day of tests. All kinds of test. a full day of tedious, boring test. This was the actual test, many didn't come back from the lunch break.

5

u/Naive-Library-9379 Sep 05 '26
