humankind hiccups šŸ˜… Well this aged like milk.

Post image

Stumbled upon this while clearing out the attic.

She visited my primary school in Edinburgh shortly after releasing TPS. The girl in front of me (my friend and train-to-school comrade) was Southeast Asian and has an incredibly elaborate sounding name. When Joanne screwed up her face when my friend gave her her name for the signature, I laughed. This is how she decided to sign my copy.

I was laughing at you, JK.

EDIT: It’s on EBay.

Aren’t we all nowadays

31

u/NothaBanga May 02 '26

Not enough people are.Ā  Seeing tons of shitty over processed food with HP shapes and Butterbeer(?)/Butterberry(?) flavors lately.

4

u/Istoh May 02 '26

Saw butterbeer potato chips at Costco last week. Made me blurt an incredulous "what the fuck?" out loud.Ā

5

u/BrockStar92 May 02 '26

I mean even leaving aside the transphobia, this is a terrible idea simply because their attempts at making butterbeer came out awful and gross and should be banned forever. It should not be being added as a flavour to things.

2

u/docclaytonforrester May 02 '26

Here we go...

3

u/BrockStar92 May 02 '26

Huh?

1

u/OctaviusNeon May 05 '26

Doesn't want to hear about the transphobia, I'd guess lol

2

u/AntisocialDyll May 02 '26

Damn I was just wanting to try them

-5

u/realitycheckbitches May 02 '26

Yeah because Harry potter is a amazing. I don't care that the writer is disliked by some people I don't follow peer pressure so easily. Its like enjoying a picasso even though he was a misogynist. Or enjoying chick fil a even though your not religious. It doesnt matter if you stop giving them your small amount it means nothing but reduces your happiness over politics. When you grow up you realize there are better ways to support causes then throw a tantrum at the thing your upset at.

9

u/RPG_Vancouver May 02 '26

Except Rowling actively gives her money to anti-trans causes.

So every dollar you help put in her pocket is potentially being used as a weapon against a vulnerable minority group. I care too much about my friends to just pretend like you can ignore politics when it’s being used to target them specifically

1

u/PleasingPotato May 04 '26

As far as I know she isn't specifically anti-trans, for the most part she just doesn't want women being forced to be with trans women in any environment that normally wouldn't allow men. Which the overwhelming majority of people agree with.

1

u/uranthus May 06 '26

No she is very much anti-trans. She goes around claiming random people are trans too so she’s become a transvestigator.

13

u/kbotc May 02 '26

Yea, but unlike Picasso, JK Rawlings is still alive and very much still funding anti-trans groups. By supporting Harry Potter, you are actively funding those groups.

4

u/Hangry-Feline2489 May 02 '26

"In an avalanche, no one snowflake ever feels responsible."

5

u/Moozipan May 02 '26

Human rights isn't politics, but you're too ignorant to ever grasp that concept.

5

u/FunkySeeFunkyDo_ May 02 '26

This sounds more like a tantrum than anything else in this thread. Personally, I’m of the belief that there are some ethical ways to consume Harry Potter content. However, you can’t disclaim any part in Rowling’s bigotry campaign while still giving her the money that funds it.

4

u/the_cosmic_0wl May 02 '26

I’m sorry but THEY ARE BOOKS FOR CHILDREN. It was an entertaining story when I was eight years old. Comparing jk rowling to picssso is genuinely insane.

9

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

And she's crying into her money

12

u/olordno May 02 '26

At the end of the day crying is crying 🤷

20

u/CraftyEsq May 02 '26

True. Most famous billionaires are really shitty people.

1

u/fletters May 02 '26

If there are non-famous billionaires, I’d be willing to bet that they’re even shittier.

6

u/Shaeress May 02 '26

Most billionaires are not famous. They're known and knowable, but not famous in the slightest. Usually their businesses are much more famous while the person slips into the background.

Like the founder of Blackrock is obviously a horrible person of a billionaire, but I bet 99% can't name them or know what they look like. Or just go to Forbes 100 and try to name what they do. It's hard even in the top 10

55

u/Comfortable-Pear-973 May 02 '26

This comment always makes me laugh when people use it as a gotcha moment. She’s still a shitty person whether she’s sat on a fortune or under a bridge.

4

u/MiIIiuna May 02 '26

You have to view this sentiment from the perspective of the misanthrope that thinks this is a 'gotcha'. They're meaning "look! being a good person has no merit because disgusting people are still rewarded with financial success!". To these people, financial success is the only measure of one's worth as a person.

Personally I would look at one's happiness as a better measure for fulfillment - and oh boy is Rowling sure not a happy person with how she has apparently decided to dedicate her life solely to spreading hate and division.

3

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

I don't think she's the basement dweller that you think she is. She probably has a very full and active life and more fans than any of us could hope to have. She simply doesn't think about you

3

u/just--so May 02 '26

Is that why she wrote an entire novel about a poor persecuted writer who was cruelly cancelled by the woke mob for transphobic tweets?

2

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

Idk did she? who cares either way

-25

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

All I was saying is that she doesn't care what you think bro šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

She doesn't care? Her name pops up in the Epstein Files in a VERY big way and she insta-deleted her socials. She's like every conservatrash - she's got skin so thin the mold in her castle can just transpire right through it. She might be able to cry into a pile of money, but she's surrounded herself with horrendous people who will still bury her faster than they did Epstein.

2

u/Consistent-Lock4928 May 02 '26

Her name pops up in the Epstein Files in a VERY big

It really didn't, though.

2

u/Selverd2 May 02 '26

she isn’t in the epstein files

0

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

I do not care for the Epstein files personally. Having talked with Epstein does not mean you did anything wrong. It's just an easy distraction from real issues

2

u/Consistent-Lock4928 May 02 '26

She didn't even talk to him

2

u/uranthus May 06 '26

Ah yes because rape and sexual assault isn’t a real issue. God you’re ignorant

1

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 06 '26

Okay keep banging on about it and raising hysteria and see if any good comes from it. The fact that you need to resort to personal insults instead of logic tells everyone what kind of person you are

1

u/uranthus May 06 '26

Ah yes because not talking about important topics and trying to raise awareness to stop them from happening is always a lost cause šŸ™ƒ

The civil rights movement, MLK movement, gay pride and other movements like that just don’t exist and haven’t made any positive changes. Gotcha.

Maybe it’s wrong to insult people but when the information is out there about both JK and her transphobia and Epstein island and all the women and children who were abused by prominent people mentioned on the list, and you still decry it as of being no importance then I’m going to call you an idiot.

2

u/ncc74656m May 02 '26

Found her account everyone.

2

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

I just checked and she has literally never had any contact with Epstein in any way. You guys are scraping the barrel

5

u/Blazured May 02 '26

No she definitely cares. She even threatens people who point out facts she doesn't like, like that time she engaged in holocaust denial.

-1

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

Oh she threatened people? Who did she threaten?

5

u/Blazured May 02 '26

A fair few iirc. I remember at least two, but I have a vague memory of more.

0

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

Who tho

3

u/Blazured May 02 '26

Various random members of the public who said facts she didn't like. I already told you.

Her Twitter usage would disagree.

1

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

Anybody could open a Twitter account and shit their opinions everywhere. Doesn't mean they care about anything

2

u/BEconcubine_no3685 May 02 '26

I’m not talking about ā€œanybodyā€, I’m talking about JK and her years-long habit or arguing with randos on Twitter

0

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

Gotta do something with your time lol

20

u/andrey_not_the_goat May 02 '26

If she didn't care she wouldn't be regurgitating hateful stuff on her personal social media account.

-16

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

She cares about her fans, not the haters

16

u/MartinGorePosting May 02 '26

Which is why she frequently argues with them on Twitter. Unbothered behavior.

-7

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

I'm arguing with you but it doesn't mean I care about you, I'm just expressing my point of view

12

u/Shrimpheavennow227 May 02 '26

I don’t care soooo much I’m going to keep replying so you know how much I, like totally, don’t care.

See?! If I cared, I wouldn’t have responded to you. But I don’t, so I’m continuing to express my opinion (that I totally don’t care about) to you.

-2

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

You're conflating caring about my opinions with caring about somebody else

1

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

Not sure what you mean. Who does she hate?

14

u/andrey_not_the_goat May 02 '26

Trans people. She literally one of the most vocal anti-trans celebrities out there.

0

Does she hate them or does she just have opinions about them that you don't like?

3

What matters is what other people think about you.

1

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

Yeah true I guess, kinda, maybe

3

u/brainparts May 02 '26

Oh nah lol, she definitely does care. She’s made it very obvious.

1

I don't believe you

1

You're a troll.

4

Which illustrates that money doesn't keep you from crying.

5

u/elderlybrain May 02 '26

In the mold mansion as well.

I'm not surprised she's gone a little nuts, considering she's basically turned into one of the villains from resident evil 7.

1

u/Upset-Basil4459 May 02 '26

I bet she's done a lot more with her life than you

3

u/elderlybrain May 02 '26

She's made definetely made a mountain out of a mold hill, that's for sure šŸ™ƒ

1

u/indianajoes May 02 '26

Unless you're a Harry Potter fan. Those fuckers don't really have any morals and just follow this idiot with whatever she says

6

u/OrdinaryExi May 02 '26

Tbf the biggest potter head i know irl (rereads the series every 6 months) refuses to buy any more stuff from the IP than they already have (they bought a lot of merch before we knew she was a TERF), and just reuses their copies and lends them to anyone who wants to get into the series without supporting Rowling. It probably helps that they’re nonbinary and Rowling wants them dead, but point stands

5

u/RainbowPhoenix1080 May 02 '26

I support them. that is what I consider to be "ethical consumption" of HP.

4

u/Shrimpheavennow227 May 02 '26

This is my view on it too. I read the books as a kid and I have a lot of fondness for the experience of reading them, while also being just so so disappointed in who the author is and horrified by her rhetoric and use of money to spread hate towards people who are just trying to go about their lives.

I loved the books as a kid, I still will reread them because I have the hard copies, but I don’t want to use my money to help her do shitty things to people.

0

u/Garchompisbestboi May 02 '26

Rereading a series of books every 6 months honestly sounds like a symptom of mental illness more than anything.

1

u/FunkySeeFunkyDo_ May 02 '26

Eh, I used to do that. I’m just an avid reader who would go back to Harry Potter whenever I was between books. I liked that I could pick up at any point in the series and know what was happening and that I didn’t necessarily feel compelled to finish them before starting a new book.

1

u/OrdinaryExi May 02 '26

Yeah probably, but it’s not like its hurting them or anything

4

u/crowdawg7768 May 02 '26

This is such a horrible generalization, not unlike JK Rowling’s generalizations of communities. The idea you can say someone who grew up with Harry Potter as the main way they learned to love reading somehow means they took JK Rowling’s opinions on things they never knew anything about at ten makes them immoral. Get a grip.Ā

3

u/indianajoes May 02 '26

I'm an ex Harry Potter fan and I've seen how shitty a lot of the fanbase is. I am one of those that grew up with it but I also moved on when I started seeing the creator acting shitty towards marginalised people. Unfortunately I can't say the same for most fans. Look at Hogwarts Legacy and how well it did. Look at how well the theme park lands do. Look at the Lego sets and how popular they are. Look at the views the HBO show trailer is getting. Look at how many companies are desperate to get the HP licence to make merch.Ā

The majority of HP fans do not give a fuck. I'm not talking about the ones that grew up with it. I'm talking about the ones that continue to support it and fund her hate campaign. So many will claim they love HP but they don't agree with Rowling and then they'll buy all the HP shit they want, they'll go to the theme parks, they'll buy the Lego sets, they'll play the games, they'll listen to the audiobooks, they'll stream the show. So it ends up being just a bunch of bullshit they say to keep themselves happy while they give her money. I can't believe you're comparing generalising about a fanbase that continues to keep a shitty person relevant with generalisations about people for their identity.Ā

2

u/Musical_Xena May 02 '26

Is that a thing in their community? I've heard lots of people acknowledge that they both 1) love the stories, and 2) acknowledge the problems in the character representations and the author. I didn't know there were die-hard JK fans out there.

2

u/[deleted] May 02 '26

[deleted]

2

u/indianajoes May 02 '26

Yeah people like this do not exist at all

https://youtu.be/1Eqleb3knyk?si=k1H9NYUl_WoB91oL

That's why HP continues to be a massive thing even though Rowling repeatedly says and does shitty stuff

2

u/indianajoes May 02 '26

A lot of them will claim there are problems with Rowling but then continue to financially support HP by buying merch, streaming the show, playing the games, etc. so it ends up meaning nothing. And when these things are still massively popular, it shows that most HP fans do not give a fuck

-4

u/Trraumatized May 02 '26

Key words here: her opinions. Her opinions don’t matter to me, because she’s a transphobic piece of shit. I have been using public bathrooms for decades and never once saw anyone’s genitals.

Do you really think men are planning on disguising themselves as women to sneak into bathrooms and assault women? Do you think those kind of people are like, oh man, I sure would like to accost a woman in the bathroom, but the rules say no biological males in the bathroom. Shucks! Guess the women are safe today?!

Like completely putting aside people’s opinions on the morality of it or whether or not it makes them feel icky, whats the real reason we are so obsessed with peoples sex in bathrooms?

This is an issue that impacts a very very small percentage of people. And assaulting someone in a bathroom is already a crime. It isn’t trans people doing it. It’s cis men. So we really should, by your logic, ban men from anywhere women are. Because that’s who is harming us.

If you REALLY were concerned about the ā€œopticsā€ of who uses the bathroom where, I think you need to understand that the large majority of trans people, look like the sex they transitioned to. So under your logic, you’d have female to male transgendered people with full facial hair, who look just like a cis man, using the bathroom with me and my daughter? Waaayyyy more uncomfortable to everyone than a male to female person wearing a dress and heels, clearly presenting as a female, walking into the woman’s room.

I am not transgender and this literally doesn’t bother me at all.

It’s already illegal to rape people. Why do we need laws pretending that bathroom access will stop a non existent threat that already isn’t happening?

u/mr-snrub- May 02 '26

You can't "agree" or "disagree" on whether someone exists.

-1

u/Slick_Dapperman May 02 '26

And why not?

11

u/vinlandnative May 02 '26

because we exist. it's that simple. saying we don't is ignoring reality.

12

u/mr-snrub- May 02 '26

Bro, go touch grass.

9

u/vinlandnative May 02 '26

saying trans people are mentally ill on multiple occasions and singling out individual trans people on her platform is bullying. furthermore, her point of view is both harmful and wrong, spreading rhetoric that we are mentally ill, violent, and cause harm to children, both sexually and in trying to make them trans.

-1

u/Slick_Dapperman May 02 '26

She has a point of view just like you have yours and she's entitled to it, and many would agree.

10

u/vinlandnative May 02 '26

sure, she can have that wrong opinion. and i can criticize both that opinion outright and the harm these lies have caused to thr wellbeing of trans people in general.

0

u/Slick_Dapperman May 02 '26

Most people would agree she has the right opinion and yours is wrong

10

u/vinlandnative May 02 '26

it's not an opinion whether or not trans people exist.

we exist. simple. trans people have been documented since pre-historic times, with gender dysphoria being the medical reasoning.

her opinion isn’t that we aren't real, her opinion is that we transition for attention, are mentally ill, and are dangerous. this simply isn't the case in isolation - meaning that it is not inherent to trans people. there are individuals where this is the case, but not the majority.

furthermore, no, most people do not agree with her. you agreeing with her does not the majority make.

Promoting harassment campaigns against female athletes because you think they might be trans is absolutely bullying.

9

u/vinlandnative May 02 '26

she helped fund anti-trans legislation in scotland with the money she earned from harry potter alongside other methods of funding. i have no desire to be tolerant of the intolerant views of others. they are free to have those views, but i am not obligated to respect it.

6

u/Thelostrelic May 02 '26

8

u/Prestigious_Host_198 May 02 '26

9

u/andrey_not_the_goat May 02 '26

It's not just about her views. She's actively donating to anti-trans organizations.

Btw, it's hilarious how you conservatives talk about others being tolerant, when you're the biggest, and pissiest intolerant bunch out there.

2

u/Shrimpheavennow227 May 02 '26

A view is something like: I don’t really like chocolate cake, but I think it’s okay that other people do.

A shitty view is: I don’t like chocolate cake so I don’t think you should like them either.

And then there is what she does: I don’t like chocolate cake and anyone who DOES like chocolate cake is a gross heathen who is going to hell. And I’m donating my money to the society for eliminating chocolate cakes. Because I’m really worried that what if…some kid sees you with your chocolate cake…and oh god…what if they end up wanting some instead of this vanilla one that I think is best? See? Allowing people to enjoy their cake unbothered, while also not bothering others, is a problem because….my religion (that very explicitly isn’t the law) says so.

See?

Also just adding on to the chain here to remind everyone that aside from her unbelievably shitty views, and aside from all the harassment campaigns and the gobs of money she throws at laws and politicians targeting vulnerable minorites, let's also remember, and never forget, that she and a number of other rank(ing) terfs were all buddies with Epstein.

Omg I almost forgot that for a minute. Thank you for the reminder of yet another reason why she sucks. Imagine having all that money and not being able to shut your mouth about other people’s privates and not hang out with pedophiles.

If I had that kind of money, no one would ever hear from me again. She could literally do anything, and she chooses to be….this.

Nope.

Is it the TERF stuff or the holocaust denial that appeals to you?

She never denied the holocaust, so I guess the first one? Though I'm not really sure what that means.

She called the claim that trans people were targeted during the holocaust a 'fever dream', denying the holocaust doesn't mean you claim the entire thing didn't happen, even the most ardent deniers aren't that far gone it's all about numbers and targets.

Either you know what it means or you came in claiming that "she's really not that bad" based on knowing literally nothing about her.

Oh so she didn't deny the holocaust, but just a tiny element of it.

Looks like both aspects appeal to you, quelle surprise.

She's dedicated her entire life to screwing over a minority that comprises a fraction of the population, who have no means of fighting back and who have done nothing to her besides make her feel sort of icky. She's deeply pathetic, and I'd pity her were it not for the fact that she's poured billions of dollars into making the lives of innocents as hellish as possible.

No just a small amount of people who cant separate politics and enjoyment maybe 5% of her fan base.
