I didn’t think they could legally pull Post Office vehicles over.

When I got hired, I was told if I get a ticket, I have to pay it. None yet in 13 years.

Hard to get a ticket when you drive no more than probably 10 MPH.

Postal workers adhere to the same driving regulations as everyone else. If they break them they can get pulled over. Probably why we don’t see postal workers driving 100mph.

And notably, those vehicles do not go 100mph….

Can confirm. My LLV shakes and rattles if I hit 45.

When that baby hits 88 miles per hour you're going to see some serious shit

It didn't time travel, it just caught on fire

So they don’t just *look* a bit Jeepish, they really are.

I think I would lose a battle with a deer, which are rampant in my area.

Most stuff loses a battle with a deer. My grandfather had one fly through the drivers side window and clobber him. Only person I've ever known t-boned by a deer.

The postal service actually used a lot of jeeps in the past. I think they bought a lot of rear wheel drive only XJs at one point.

Flooring it just trying to hit 60 on the freeway is always an adventure

u/Virtchoo Jun 09 '26

So you’re saying you could if you wanted.

Which is a little weird considering everything else Grumman made did.

2

u/shotgunsam23 Jun 09 '26

That would certainly prevent it too lol.

There's a reason why you never see these things on an interstate.

They didn’t get red light tickets in Chicago under the old red light ticket camera agency, because there’s no license plate.

Kinda more of a loophole than anything else, the law is still in effect it just can’t be enforced.

u/iamthepita Jun 09 '26

Aka “you can’t go after them (the govt)”

3

u/shotgunsam23 Jun 09 '26

Cops do pull them over lol.

1

u/iamthepita Jun 09 '26

Verbal slapping then?

3

u/shotgunsam23 Jun 09 '26

They get tickets too, USPS has a policy that states drivers will pay for traffic violations.

2

u/iamthepita Jun 09 '26

They’re human beings like us!

2

u/shotgunsam23 Jun 09 '26

Amen, well expect for the one who delivered mail to my place back in college. He might’ve been a vampire and or serial killer, haven’t decided yet on which.

1

u/my3sgte Jun 09 '26

But they’re federal employee, so they’re vehicle has right away before anything else on the road. That officer will have quite a bit of paper work to fill out.

2

u/Smiadpades Jun 09 '26

You can. What you are thinking of is this

Only the post master General or FBI can legally require you to move the vehicle.

This was drilled into our heads during training.

There's a video online of one that gets a DUI after driving wildly and admits to having drinks at a party where she was delivering mail. Pretty sure they can't do that.
