We eat it in Czechia as well, we call it Tatarák, usually you add some onion, raw egg yolk, soy sauce, washyoursister sauce and then eat it with garlic bread.

First time I’ve heard of washyoursister sauce and yet I knew exactly what you were talking about 😅.

u/Grumpy-Billa 5h ago

I believe it’s a concentrate of bathwater?

2

u/Hungry_Wendigo_ 5h ago

Exactly that

u/Dabox720 4h ago

That is an actual brand name for worcestershire sauce

u/frogminute 3h ago

Not in all seriousness?!

Edit: I googled it. Yep, Worschyoursister Sauce is a real thing 🤣

the batches made during this time of the month are very salty

Washyoursister Sauce 🤣🤣🤣

You just described the recipe how my grandparents prepared Mett in Saxony.

Minus the washyoursister sauce though. Although my grandpa once joked about me and my cousin getting closer.

u/OneInternational3383 4h ago

u/Brilliant-Current637 6h ago

Is it berf or pork?

4

u/Hungry_Wendigo_ 5h ago

Beef, beef tenderloin is the best

1

u/Chillon420 4h ago

Beef is tartar, pork is mett

1

u/einredditname 2h ago

Then it's not the same, at all. Let alone with the egg yolk, soy sauce and sister sauce. Different animal and a ton more of extras on top.

1

u/bitch-ass-broski 5h ago

In Germany it's pork

2

u/StrictAd7754 4h ago

you can make it from any meat, i had it made from fish and also snails, it is very good

1

u/forwheniampresident 3h ago

Turkey Mett is also very good

u/helmli 5h ago

We have beef, too, it's called "Tatar" or "Steak Tartare". Quite different from Mett though.

1

u/paperboii-here 4h ago

There’s an episode where Mr bean orders steak tartare to save some cash. He didn’t receive a steak though

Washyoursister Sauce 😋

1

u/Biedrona_ 6h ago

And in Poland too. But we call it Tatar.

3

u/CoolCat1337One 5h ago

Tatar is a German thing too.
Tatar is beef, Mett is pork.

2

u/musicmonk1 5h ago

that's not pork

1

u/Jhud6669 4h ago

The thing described is closer to metka

1

u/Equivalent_Rope_8824 6h ago

In Belgium too. But no garlic bread and it's always beef, never pork.

Richtig Bock drauf!

1

u/Biblioklept73 5h ago

Aaand it’s delicious, especially on garlic rubbed topinky 😁

1

u/Pilum2211 5h ago

There's a big difference between raw pork hygiene and raw beef hygiene to my knowledge.

It's not really the same.

1

u/Undoreal 4h ago

But isn’t it made of beef?

1

u/sharkov2003 4h ago

What you are talking about is beef tartar, which is absolutely delicious in the Czech (and also Slovak) cuisine.

We Germans also eat pork „tartar“ (Mett) and it is also quite delicious. Has to be absolutely fresh though. Otherwise you’ll be sick. A colleague recently made his whole department stay at home for two days behause he brought Mett from a shady place.

u/Charizardd6 3h ago

Tatarák is beef.

1

u/Periador 3h ago

tatarak is a diffrent dish made out of diffrent meat

1

u/The_Sleazy1 2h ago

That sounds more like steak tartar at that point, which is beef. German mett is pork though.

1

u/Corgiso 2h ago

Well that's Tatar then, that's completely different and also eaten around the world . And it's mostly beef

1

u/srekar-trebor 2h ago

Beef ≠ Pork

1

u/Academic-Proof3700 2h ago

Isn't it beef? Thats the diff imho- beef is usually safe because of its structure. Pork? Ughhh I'd say you gotta double check it for parasites and bacteria.

But lets go down the rabbit hole - RAW CHICKEN- checked for salmonella by trustmebro experts. Edible or not? Ughhh and the structure! How it rips apart by your teeth. Savage!

1

u/hemacwastaken 1h ago

The way it works with pork is that you have to ensure a vegetarian diet for the pigs. They only get parasites via their food and as long as you make sure they eat vegetarian there is no issue.

They do this in Germany and test it regularly.

"Tartar" is known in Germany, too, but Mett is pork with salt and pepper, maybe diced raw onions.

1

u/Brave_Royal_9329 21m ago

No, that's tartar... Mett is without anything except of salt and maybe pepper. And: Mett is pork, Not beef

1

u/h1ruki 4h ago

Wustersheer - is how to pronounce it properly - wuster works too if you’re in the UK.

Source: I’m from the UK.

Edit: I love your pronounciation of it though I will definitely be using it to troll other Brits in my day-to-day!

u/ElKaWeh 5h ago

Y'all are making this way too complicated.

2

u/Hungry_Wendigo_ 5h ago

Nah, you have to taste it to understand.

1

u/Loose-Story-962 3h ago

Not even a particularly long recipe

1

u/ElKaWeh 3h ago

It was just a friendly diss man. Obviously this sounds great. But compare it to minced meat, onion, salt & pepper, it’s a pretty damn long recipe.

0

u/Fernseherr 4h ago

This is different, it's also called Tatar in Germany and is from beef.
