How do you identify good sections in a song, and do you look for loops or bits to cut out first?

Personally, I loop a single measure in Ableton over the drums, but I feel like it’s a waste of time.

Do you have any tips for finding interesting sections?

NI is offering bundles, 2 plugins and some expansions for $49. There was a bundle that had everything I've been eyeing from them, so I bought it. However, unlike the other Play instruments I bought, I cant find a serial or anything anywhere - not in my InMusic profile nor my Native Instruments account (same profile).

My MPC also isnt registering that I bought them, because if I go my activations page, I still just have a "GET TRIAL" button instead of activate. Its been a while since I bought the NI Play plugins.

I cant find a spot that has the serials for the plugins (Homage, Sway, etc) OR a place to download the expansions like I used to

Am I missing something or is something off here because its a bundle?

I remember taking this out of my 2000XL a while back to replace it with a CF card reader. Getting rid of some stuff and found this, but wanted to see if it would be of any use to someone.

Recommendations for a good mixer for the live 3. Preferably sub$500. I want to be able to route turntable signal/iPhone audio signal in. And possibly individual sounds to the faders for leveling and panning

Wanna use a portion of a sample but it’s too long for a 4bar loop, but I don’t necessarily change the semi too drastically

Before 3.9, I’m pretty sure you used to be able to clear out segments of a single track in the arranger. You would set the loop, go to edit, and one of the buttons would clear only the events in the selected track in the selected loop. Now, I can’t find a way to clear events in a single track. It just cuts all of the tracks from the selected loop. Any way to delete from a single track? This was how I arranged beats.

I know a potential workaround would be to build the beat in the clip matrix and then drop it into arrange but that’s not what I’m used to (might have to get used to it)

I have reverse engineered MPC Sample to run on the RG34. Fully functional!

Added features:

Bluetooth audio and MIDI
Audio and MIDI over IP
Legacy MPC output stage emulation MPC60 and MPC3000 so far.
Simple step sequencer.
Control/librarian app to assign controller buttons and midi controls and functions as a 1-1 GUI on its own.

I can have this folded and in my pocket or backpack and fully control the device from my phone.

i’ve been making music for nine years in fl studio and have been looking at getting the mpc sample since it was announced. i’m not very experienced in using pads besides very occasional finger drumming on my midi keyboard (arturia keylab mk3), but it’s always intrigued me (mostly for chopping samples).

i’d probably be using it mostly to load in a sample on my computer, chop it on the mpc, then send it back to fl studio. having a dedicated sampler sounds cool to me, but i feel like i might be just as well off with a midi controller with a bunch of pads on it if this is what i’ll mostly be using it for, but i’m not sure. the main thing is i would like the sampling experience to feel less like it’s all done in the computer and i can actually adjust things with pads and knobs to make it more fun. if a bunch of midi pads can do that and for cheaper, i feel like i might as well save my money.

any perspectives and opinions on this are appreciated

Hello all, I’m currently using the Live 3 (and love it), and am looking to add another piece of gear for live performances. Particularly, to mangle/shape instruments launched via the clip matrix.

I primarily make electronic/pop stuff, but I also use plenty of acoustic sounds too. I’ve been mapping things to q-links and the step buttons when playing live, which has been great for some punch in effects through the flex beat player. This uses up a fair amount of q-links, as well as the touch strip.

Currently, im looking at either a Torso S4, or just a midi controller like the Launch Control XL to apply filters, delays, reverb, etc. I could use some advice from anyone that uses other gear with their MPC, particularly for live performance/DJ style fx too.

I like the idea of looping and live granular that the S-4 provides. Could make for some very interesting textures, and the loop function could be great to transition between songs.

The Launch Control seems significantly easier to implement, can still affect filters and whatnot, but does not solve my problem for transitioning between songs.

Would be cool to see someone recase a mpc2000xl into a renaissance case with modern features or something like that with the older mpc models vs the obsolete modern controllers

Is there any way to have the new Gen 2 units always send all audio to the USB C port by default instead of the 1/4 inch outputs when running in standalone mode? I can set the metronome and the Audition (Preview) when sound browsing to always use USB C, but loading a drum or synth automatically routes the output of the track to Out 1&2. Even after I change the output of the track to use USB Out 1&2, as soon as I load a new sound into the same track, it forces the track to switch back to the Out 1&2 1/4 inch jacks.

Trying to get my Force to be a master to my MPC one but having no luck.

USB doesnt even show up in the list of devices and I've read online that they dont communicate without a USB midi hub. I've tried the 'ableton link' via ethernet with no luck as well. I would use 5-din midi but I just realized the force does not have it!

Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Apologies for the bareness haha, I was in the middle of sorting something else but here we are

I just bought this MPC 1000 at a pretty discounted price. This was due to a couple of the pads being shot. I thought I'd take the dive and just replace the pads to have a whole unit to play with. Now the problems begin 😭

I opened it up to clean the pads in hopes it could make them usable enough so I could start learning this beast. I was actually able to get pad 9 usable. But then the problems with the right hand board started

Basically if I put light pressure on the play button it switches to Bank D (as shown in the video initially). When I press the play button, the record and overdub LEDs light up (which I show later in the video). I'm clarifying incase there's no audio, as I'm not sure if Reddit includes audio in videos. I am assuming there's some phantom button press that's leading to a change in function (since I can't playback any sequences and the LED behaviour). I'm just not familiar enough with the machine to know what's going on though.

I've checked the board for any shorts but it seems to be all up to scratch. I'm worried there will be some issues deeper in the machine but I dread the idea of digging deeper. If anyone could provide any information that would help I'd appreciate it greatly

Edit: I've just had the bright idea to unscrew and lift the board, seems something is shorting through the chassis as it works perfectly lifted. I had an inkling of a feeling that something was off based on how I screwed the board in and I guess I was right. Seems I just need to insulate whatever is shorting and I'll be good
