Discussion Using Bandcamp as Pre-order for EP?

Hi, so my EP opens for pre-order on streaming platforms in four days, ahead of its October 23 release. I'm wondering whether it's still worth setting up a Bandcamp pre-order or whether I should focus entirely on streaming platforms.

A. Launch a Bandcamp pre-order now, offering 48 kHz/24-bit (it's only 44.1/16 in streaming services) lossless downloads from my masters, and promote it alongside the upcoming release.

B. Wait for the streaming pre-order and focus my promotional efforts on Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms.

Given that I already have an established streaming audience, which option makes more sense? Is Bandcamp worth launching at this stage, or would it be better to focus on the streaming campaign and offer Bandcamp downloads later?

Platforms like Bandcamp and streaming attract completely different audiences, so you should absolutely offer pre-orders on Bandcamp alongside streaming.

Also it's worthwhile to try and build a listenership on Bandcamp. It's way more profitable than streaming and there's the added bonus of being able to directly interact with your listeners.

Good luck with your release. :)

With October 23 close, I’d keep your streaming rollout as the main plan and treat Bandcamp as an optional way for existing fans to buy the EP. If setting it up would delay the posts or assets you already need, add it after release. If it’s quick, give it one clear mention rather than building a second campaign. Have listeners asked for downloads or a way to buy directly? That seems a better signal than the file resolution alone.
