Kinzua Bridge State Park

Hope this qualifies for this subreddit... I'll put it in the Pennsylvania one too. The wife and I took a day trip to Kinzua Bridge State Park. Figured it would be a great time to visit something I haven't seen yet and catch some great fall colors. Unfortunately, it looks like we were a week or so late for the color, but the bridge was really cool. The hike to the bottom was cool, if not challenging. We did see some great foliage on route 28 just north of Kittaning though. Highly recommend if you haven't seen it. Only a few hours away from our house in Elizabeth.

It’s well worth a day trip! There are a few other places you can stop and make like an 8-10 hour day. I was lucky enough to get to ride a train across the bridge back in the 80s, when they had a scenic train tour. I also walked across back in the 90s before it fell.

From Kane originally. I only ever rode the train once with my grandparents when I was young in the 80s, but I saw the train every day for years because it ran right behind my house. I understand why it's gone completely, but I still get sad that it's not running anymore just for purely nostalgic reasons.

Is it open now? Family and I stopped on the way back from Cherry Springs, PA back in August and it was completely closed expect for the gift shop and museum. We were super bummed as we hadn’t even realized it was under construction.

Yeah. For the fall viewing. They're still working on it. All of the construction stuff was still there, but it was still cool nonetheless.
