I do that to my partner. He'll talk to me, sometimes I ask who's there, then when told I'm just like "nuh uh you're clearly new" or specify which alter is there.

I've been right every time and can also guess who's in the room too a lot of the time if I pay enough attention.

When we wake up in the morning we never have any idea who's in front until we speak out loud, because how our voices work is largely unconscious but the differences are obvious. And checking our internal state is completely useless - have the thoughts of one of us, look in the mirror, have the self perception of a second, speak out loud, the voice of a third. But the one who's got voice control is the one with body control.

We could likely solve this with a switch to force the issue, but we only get so many switches per day

Waking up in the morning, our voices and patterns also subconsciously emerge with whoever is fronting. And while looking at ourself doesnt help, paying attention to what we gravitate toward does. If we crave a specific food or drink or something, it can be obvious who wants it and therefore who is fronting or at least co-fronting.

This isnt silly at all actually, because in the event that the guess is wrong - it just wont feel right to us and she can keep guessing until it does. Its happened a few times where she's gotten through three or more guesses before we finally figure out who we are in that moment.

Yeah, I experience the first half sometimes but there's no way I'd get my sis (who's the only one who knows im plural) to guess. I (host) usually just front and consciously decide who I need and force them out front. Most of my system doesn't mind, some do, so I default to those who don't.
