As someone who had to look death in the face at 26 because of a congenital heart defect that went south very quickly, I get it. I struggle being happy about things too because I am constantly afraid that I either don’t deserve it, or it’s going to go away.

Sorry if this is too personal, but did they ever cure the heart defect? Or do you still have to live with it every day?

I had to have a complete resection of the right half of my heart, and they did correct the defect. They also found a trashed pulmonic valve and had to place a pig valve, so…yes and no? Like there’s still the potential for failure down the line.

Oh wow. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. So you still have to deal with death in some way even now. Thank you for sharing your story with me. I'm wishing you the best of luck in your health.
