Beyoncé 🐝 20 years ago today Beyonce released “Irreplaceable”
The song became a huge hit debuting at number one on the billboard hot 100 America and the Uk. This was also her very first number one song in Australia.

To the left, to the left.
Song was written by Neyo, you can really hear it.

I didn't know that. I used to dislike Ne-Yo back then but surprisingly really loved this song.

Funny enough Ne-Yo wrote two songs called Let Me Love You. The Mario song and his own song which has (Until You Learn to Love Yourself) in the title.

I also don't like Let Me Love You by Mario lol 😅 It must be male R&B artists that are too schmoozy for my taste bc I can acknowledge they are objectively good songs. I was listening to Gallery by Mario Vasquez a few days ago and now see it was co-written by Ne-Yo, which I seem to like much more. Still can't help myself from rolling my eyes everytime I hear Miss Independent hahah

Her vocal performance on this song still give me goosebumps all these years later. I just love how, at the beginning, she sounds angry and upset and how her voice almost falters in the first chorus like she's about to burst into tear but somehow singing it makes it true and by the end she's belting it out like she's happy.
One of one.

I’ve never understood the idea some people have that she’s not an emotional singer/doesn’t have an emotional voice. I mean, obviously there’s Lemonade and all she does on that album, but even before then, she’s always been great at selling a song.

I moved like 3 times that year and also helped a dozen other people move- no one could say “to the left” without singing this song

My baby cousins performed it for our family at Christmas in what must have been 2007 complete with choreography.

I was queuing up to visit an art gallery in London and the security guard said to everyone in the queue, ‘to the left, to the left 🎶’.
This song is such a classic, one of her best songs!

Man, twenty years ago a female power fantasy like this of being the one holding all of the capital in a relationship with a man where you could and would extricate yourself from mistreatment without having to worry about compromising your own economic security, while also pushing back against the heteronormative trope of "trading in" for a new model but this time showing how it can go both ways, while also still portraying the hurt felt from the betrayal...it truly was a moment.

This is so embarrassing for her after getting cheated on by Jay Z. Oops I bet ya thought that I didn't know 🎵. She should have put him out like this

She had a whole album regarding his infidelity: Lemonade.

Really? I just heard Ne-Yo’s demo on YouTube in recent months and loved it. His version sounds more melancholy whereas Beyoncé’s is more (Sasha) fierce. Both versions are excellent!

Also you had to listen to the same songs over and over back then before the internet was widespread. This song bored me to death but I still remember all the lyrics.

Iconic song but when I saw her live she didn’t sing it. Crowd sang the song, which was a medley version anyway, which was disappointing.
