[NEW USER FAQs + CRITIQUE REQUEST THREAD]

A buyer is trying to get me to email or text them more info about my listing. Is this a scam? Usually. Do not engage with anyone off the platform. Doing so is against Poshmark’s terms of service and a bad idea for many reasons, including risking permanent suspension of your account.

I got a sketchy email from Poshmark saying I need to transfer my own money to my Poshmark balance to keep selling. This is a scam and the email was not sent by Poshmark. You do not need to pay anything to make sales on Poshmark. If you get a similar email saying you made a sale but need to pay something to un-restrict your account, check your My Sales tab in the actual app or website. If there's no order there, you did not make one and it's a scam attempt.

I'm a new seller and all my listings got taken down and/or flagged as counterfeit. Help! Poshmark's spam and abuse filters sometimes suspend new accounts for listing either too much or too fast. No one knows the exact thresholds or how long you should wait between listing new items but if your account is frozen, you have to contact support and wait for them reply. If you didn't break any rules, they'll reinstate your closet and all your listings. It's normal for a reply to take 1-3+ days.

My buyer doesn’t have an account on Poshmark, or their username doesn't match the one on the shipping label. Is this a scam? No. Poshmark allows buyers to purchase items without registering for an account. In these situations, you might not be able to communicate with the buyer and you’ll probably have to wait three full days after delivery for your funds to be released.

Poshmark support isn't getting back to me, and I keep emailing them! What gives? Emailing support twice in a row bumps your initial query to the bottom of the queue. We recommend not sending a follow-up email until Poshmark responds. If you already emailed support, you can try reaching out via social media while waiting for a response.

I shipped the wrong item/swapped labels/etc. What should I do? Contact Poshmark support. They'll reach out to your buyer(s) and will give them return labels and give you further instructions.

Do I have to use a USPS box to ship my item? No. It’s generally fine to repurpose or recycle other boxes. However, ensure that they fall within Priority Mail’s size requirements, and do not use Express Mail boxes. Pack items securely and without any added fragrances.

Do I have to include a thank you note and a free gift with my item? No. Notes and gifts are not required and many buyers don't like receiving them.

Do I have to accept really low offers? No. They're your items, and you get to decide how much to sell them for. However, many sellers counter even the lowest offers, as doing so sometimes results in a sale.

Why did a buyer make a bundle of just one item? It's hard to say. Some buyers add listings to a bundle unintentionally; others might be angling for a private discount. Search r/poshmark to read about all of the possible reasons for one-item bundles.

Does Poshmark have a private-messaging system? If you want to talk to someone who purchased something from you, go into the order details and there will be an option to message them privately. If you want to talk to someone who has not bought anything from you yet, you can do so by tagging their username in your listing's comment box or through a bundle. Comments in sold bundles and empty bundles appear to be private, but comments in other bundles are definitely visible to other users so do not share any personal information in them.

A buyer opened a case on an item. What now? If you misrepresented the item, advise Poshmark that you’re willing to accept a return. Otherwise, state your rebuttal clearly and calmly. Poshmark will decide whether to approve the return, refund part or all of the purchase price, or something else. Be patient; it can take a few days to get a final ruling from a Poshmark rep. Be civil, state the facts, and direct your response to Poshmark instead of the buyer.

My brand-new account already has a ton of followers. Is that normal? Why? Yes. Poshmark is designed to promote your username across the app so that others can follow you.

Why do sellers price things so high? We don’t know. However, Poshmark’s policy on price-gouging applies only to essential items. If you find a seller’s prices upsetting, it’s best to simply move on. (Or, if you’re interested in purchasing the item, consider making an offer.)

Where can I find answers to other questions? Many questions posted to this subreddit are addressed in Poshmark’s own official documentation. We recommend that you read their Guide to Poshmark, Community Guidelines, Prohibited Items Policy, and FAQs. Before posting a question here, you can also use the blank field in the sidebar to search the subreddit for relevant key terms (e.g., flat lay, shipping, weight limit, opened case, dress form).

Questions related to your closet? There's a mountain of tips already available to browse if you search the sub for "newbie advice" or "new seller tips." You can post your closet URL and a critique request below, however you'll be more likely to get responses from seasoned sellers if you ask specific questions instead of requesting a general review.

This week purchased a dress I really wanted just woke up to cancelled order again dress isn’t available…

What are we doing here lol if you’re selling on multiple platforms can you not be on top of your stuff more organized.

This recent posher didn’t even say anything but ugh bummed about the dress.

Is this common!?

Counterfeit claim assistance for a newbie

** update #2 -I have received my certificate of authenticity from legit Grail. Do I have to upload this whole unedited document to the conversation thread for Poshmark to consider it (and thereby gifting it to the scam artist so that they can resell it with the certificate of authenticity) or would it be acceptable for me to mark out the QR code or any other information?
Alternately can I just screenshot a portion of it for that thread and send it to Poshmark separately?

** update - I have replied to the communication thread with screenshots of all 14 of the images that I had in my listing as well as a screenshot of the listing body. I could not get Poizon to work so I paid for a 2 hour turn around on LegitGrails. Hopefully the pictures I have are good enough for them.
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all of you chiming in.

I’m reaching out to this community for some assistance on my first counterfeit claim. I am not a reseller, I’m just someone who is selling off their personal belongings on Poshmark as I downsize.
Last week I accepted an offer on a Ferragamo handbag that I purchased in 2001. I had very clear images of all aspects of the bag, including the authenticity label, the full base of the bag & a close-up of where the handle was tearing from the metal attachment. I also noted that detail in the body of the listing.
Sharing screenshots of the communication thus far. I don’t know if I should respond further or wait for Poshmark to engage. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Poshmark Sellers in Hawaii: Are all of your October orders experiencing significant shipping delays?

The recent USPS changes to ground advantage service at the beginning of the month have everything shipping by boat and all my orders are delayed. I have buyers asking why the tracking hasn't updated since early October, and the tracking info estimates one month delivery. This sucks! I think Poshmark is going to end up paying out a bunch of item not received claims from us Hawaii sellers.

Anyone else having these issues?

Post image
9 Upvotes

After contacting Poshmark about the excessive 'Accidental Purchase' cancelations, they pretty much said it's normal.

29 cancelations in October and a majority of them due to 'Accidental Purchases' does not seem normal to me.

Something odd happened this morning as well. I had 3 buyers rate their purchases within minutes of each other, and all 3 left weird love notes (shown in screenshot).

Just trying to see if anyone else is having these "normal issues". I feel as though im in some weird beta test. I can't find anyone else having these issues.

10+ years on this platform and this has never happened.

How to delete items w/o penalty?

Seasoned seller, Posh Amb II, but I've moved and decided to donate about 20 items that are in my closet. How can I go about removing those without triggering some type of penalty, freeze or ban of my account? Currently just have my whole close on Vacation Hold until I can start fresh with new items.

Newbie here - what's the deal with sharing? Is there etiquette?

I looked at the newbie guide and FAQ and am still a little confused. It seems like it's a good way to build community and it seems kind of hit or miss on whether it builds engagement or not... But it seems like it's generally recommended that you do this? I got a bunch of shares (40+) on my first listing, should I try to share back a listing from each closet as a courtesy/thank you (if I see something I like)? Just wanting to make sure I have this right lol, thank you for your time and reading 💕

Sold an Ann Taylor dress a month ago and it was just "Beautiful dress, just much shorter than expected. It was packed with lots of care, thank you for that." 4 stars. Okay I guess. Not my fault. I gave you measurements.

and now the buyer comes back a whole month later to update their listing because of their own fault. Girl I WARNED YOU IT MIGHT BE TOO SMALL in the comments!!!! Wanted to post this because while I'm aware that there are persnickety buyers out there, they're my first (on Posh).

How to turn off AI on when listing items for sale?

I looked this up into Google and it said that you have to click the “classic listing” feature but I don’t see that option. I must not have it. Does anyone know how to get rid of the automatic AI when listing things for sale so it stops “enhancing“ all the photos and making them look weird. I don’t need it changing my price. I don’t need it writing this long useless AI slop description that I have to immediately delete. I don’t use AI in any aspect of my life so I certainly don’t need it here. It should at least be an option that we can turn off. All it does is waste my time having to immediately undo everything.

Edit- I’m using an iPhone so the app would be the iPhone version

$365 for used denim and not only that - why the heck do people force expensive clothes or clothes in general into shirt hangers lolol

It’s my personal pet peeve when browsing items. Like, girl if you aren’t at least displaying it via a pant hanger and you’re asking for that price..?

Bye.

Has anyone noticed a major decline on Poshmark?

Poshmark used to be the busier site, at least for me. But it seems to have just died off a month or two ago.

When I go to browse and interact, I enjoy it much less because it seems like I see the same couple of things now. And graphics/ads... but my attention isn't getting grabbed like it used to. I wonder if other shoppers are having a similar experience.

But on the selling side, interest seems to have completely dissipated, although I'm doing everything the same as I was previously.

Has anyone else noticed similar changes? Have you been able to correct them?

cancelling order purchased as guest

i made an online purchase as a guest and assumed it would automatically synch the same email used for the guest purchase with the email used for an account if I started one. but it hasn’t synced, and I havent gotten any email from Poshmark about the shipment of my order, just the confirmation, even though I made it 7 days ago. is there any way I can cancel it? I tried to reach out to the seller by commenting on one of her other listings but no response even though she has been active according to her profile.

Poshmark buyer harassed me after asking me to cancel an order I had already shipped. Now I’m worried

I’m a longtime Poshmark seller, and I’ve never had an experience like this before. I’m honestly frustrated with how Poshmark has handled it, and I’m looking for advice from other sellers who have dealt with something similar.

I sold a bag on Poshmark, as I normally do. A few hours after purchasing it, the buyer messaged me saying she had used the wrong payment card and wanted me to cancel the order so she could repurchase it. She was very insistent and repeatedly promised she would buy it again.

By that point, I had already packaged the item and left it in my building’s outgoing mail area for USPS pickup using Poshmark’s prepaid shipping label.

I explained that it had already shipped, but USPS hadn’t scanned it yet, so the tracking hadn’t updated on Poshmark.

The buyer then accused me of lying and started sending increasingly hostile messages. She repeatedly demanded that I cancel the order, insulted me, and continued messaging me even after I explained the situation. Eventually, Poshmark Support was notified that the conversation had been escalated, and I blocked her.

I contacted Poshmark Support, but honestly, I haven’t found their response helpful.

Now I’m concerned about several things:

* If she receives the bag and claims I sent her an empty box, how can I protect myself?

* Should I try to retrieve the package from my building’s outgoing mail area before USPS collects it?

* If I retrieve it, could that cause problems with the transaction or my seller account?

* What happens if she opens a case against me out of retaliation?

I’m especially uncomfortable because my return address is on the shipping label. After the way she spoke to me, I don’t like the idea of a hostile buyer having my address. I wish I could share the screenshots not sure if that’s allowed here.

I’ve saved screenshots of the conversation, including her original request to cancel because she used the wrong card, my explanation that the package had already shipped, and her subsequent messages accusing me of lying and demanding cancellation.

I understand that buyers can make mistakes, but I don’t think a seller should be expected to take responsibility for someone else’s payment mistake, especially after preparing and shipping an order.

I’m looking for advice from experienced Poshmark sellers: What would you do in this case?

I’d appreciate any advice, particularly from sellers who have dealt with difficult buyers and unhelpful Support.

My first 2 star review. 😫

Hi everyone! I have a question because I’m honestly so confused by this one. I’ve received five-star ratings on all of my sales until my most recent one, where the buyer gave me two stars and accused me of altering the size of a skirt.

Here’s the thing: I genuinely do not know how to sew. If a button falls off, my husband has to sew it back on because I’m more likely to stab myself with the needle than actually fix anything!

The buyer accepted the order and completed the sale, but I’ve been trying to reach out to explain that I did not alter the skirt in any way. I’m even willing to work with her on a return or refund if she’s unhappy. Unfortunately, I think she may have blocked me because I can’t send her a message. I’m honestly perplexed. I take pride in being transparent about the items I sell, so this one really caught me off guard.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? How did you handle it? I’d love to hear your experiences or advice.

Buyer bought jeans last night, but their profile doesn't show today?

So last night I sold a pair of jeans to a buyer.

I go this morning to message them and let them know I would get it shipped out today but I noticed they can't receive messages.

So then I go to their profile and their profile doesn't load.

What do I do in this scenario? I imagine they actually paid and have a charge from Poshmark on their card, so I would think I still mail their jeans out?

Guidance on partial refund or return

Post image
11 Upvotes

So i had ordered this douglas dog plush off poshmark from a seller whom in the title identified the dog as Honey the douglas golden retriever 23".

The price was around $65 and i requested $40 on whim, and this person had accepted.

Delivery was super fast however when i opened it, it was 16", whom i believe to be Bella the golden retriever.

I had immediately messaged the seller explaining it looks like the listing however identification and size is incorrect, aswell as asking if a partial refund is possible.

This person said they apologize however they are very confused and asked if i saw what i purchased

I had said yes, and that it was listed as a complete different model and size then it was realistically.

They had told me that it might have been the wrong model however they had still taken near 25% off

I expressed the difference between the two plush and why i felt mislead, and stopped getting responses.

I think my plan moving forward is giving this person until tomorrow to respond before taking it to poshmark and asking for either a partial or full refund.

I dont believe i was purposefully scammed, however i do believe this was a mistake on the sellers side that should be corrected. I would prefer to keep this plush with a partial refund however if a return is required then it happens.

Any suggestions, guidance or information would be appreciated! Thank you. Edit: ive submitted a return case request, thank you for the recommendations and help!

Crazy buyer

I have had offers from this one buyer at least five times . She finally offered a reasonable price and then an hour later messaged me to please cancel her order. Then I told her I don’t do cancellations sorry . Then it escalated into this ridiculous conversation about having 3 hours to cancel and blah blah blah. I cancelled her order and blocked her. Wtf is wrong with people . She obviously wanted the sweater as she continued to offer and counteroffer multiple times ! Ugh 😩 I just felt like if she’s being ridiculous now , then I don’t want her money anyhoo. What are your thoughts ?
