Moderator Announcement r/postpunk Rules Update [PLEASE READ]
Hi all!
As some of you might've noticed, we've recently tweaked the subreddit rules a bit. We highly recommend you read this to get a good idea of how things will be handled here going forward.
Rule 4
First of all, all music posts now require some form of additional commentary or context. This can be in the form of opinions about the song, memories associated with it, experiences seeing it performed live, trivia, etc. as long as is encourages discussion. This rule has been in place for a little while now, but we've recently adjusted how we'll be enforcing this. We request that users here include this somewhere on their posts, whether it be in the title, body text, or as a comment on one's own post.
Rule 8
Second, please do not post excessively, and keep to a maximum of three posts per person per day. This helps prevent the sub from being excessively flooded or spammed by a single user.
To cap things off, we've been getting a number of messages via Modmail regarding users having difficulty posting. This is due to an anti-spam filter set up via AutoMod that requires posts from new accounts to be manually reviewed. Don't panic if this happens to you! It doesn't necessarily mean that your post has broken a rule, and the moderators here will have a look at it as soon as we can, although it may take a few hours.
If you run into this issue repeatedly, please contact the moderators via Modmail and we'll help you out. We do try our best to approve users whenever possible.

Echo and the Bunnymen - Villiers Terrace
This has always been one of my favorites from their debut album. It wasn’t released as a single, but seems to have struck a chord with fans and remained a fixture in live appearances throughout their career.

Post Punk Classic The Cure -Peel Sessions 1978
Perfect with coffee this morning.
The record was released in 1988, but the recordings are from December 1978.
The best recordings of 10:15 Saturday Night and Fire in Cairo ever IMHO.

Demolition Group: Mizerika (1986) [Yugoslavia, Slovenia]
A Slovenian/Yugo banger from the 80s, Mizerika mixes a bunch of elements from Rock, EBM and Post Punk. It's experimental as fuck and some songs can be hit or miss depending on how much your in for it. It's a genuine charm, if you're still interested but didn't like the rather chaotic aspect of the album I'd recommend the new Mizerika remake Demolition Group put out couple of years ago, it's way more streamlined and post punky (in the sense that it embraces many PP elements more than the original and tones down some of the EBM and Rock influences). I am particularly more keen on the older version, if you liked it as well I'd recommend another one of their works from the same period "Vox Clamantis".

Discussion Any bands or albums like Script of the Bridge?
I love the atmospheric and melancholic sound of this album. Some standout songs are Don’t Fall, Monkeyland, Up the Down Escalator, and Thursdays Child

News Australian duo PARTY DOZEN releases “Full Powers”: post-punk tornado
The group PARTY DOZEN is a duo and since they make a lot of noise, their name is written in capital letters. It consists of saxophonist Kirsty Tickle (a film score composer and member of the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra) and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Boulet (no relation to Isabelle; he primarily performs as a solo artist and as a member of the band PARADE).

Anyone else TOO obsessed with The Sound?
I know the sound get their flowers in the post-punk fan world, but I wonder if there are any fans out there that feel them on the level I do. I get a feeling from them that I absolutely cannot explain. Something so potent, so beautiful, so honest, so painful and so therapeutic. All together with the great rhythm section and Adrian's amazing voice and great guitar playing just form a sound that has made me addicted. I have never felt or enjoyed to a level music that I do The Sound which is why I would consider them my favourite band and in my opinion one of the greatest bands of all time. Anyone else just gobsmacked at how they make us feel like nothing else does?

Place of Rescission is my project. My debut album Collateral Gore was released last month. With elements of industrial, post-punk, noise, and more. Put it in your ears!
Collateral Gore is the debut album from my project Place of Rescission. All sounds were performed by myself using voice, drums, bass guitar, synthesizer, noise boxes, clarinet, theremin, and various percussion. I'm not totally sure how to classify it, not that it really needs to be classified. But some of the feedback I've received so far have mentioned things such as "bleak, so very bleak", and "like a much more deliberate Throbbing Gristle at times", and "it features elements I'm familiar with yet somehow as a whole it sounds like nothing I've ever heard before." thanks in advance if you want to give it a listen.

Fatal Charm - Paris (1979)
Of course there were other artists making music in the ‘70s that anticipated and forged the “eighties sound” (Human League, Gary Numan, Bowie, Kraftwerk, etc) but this is still solidly pretty ahead-of-its-time despite being 1979. Those shimmering synths just steal the spotlight. Shame this band is so obscure.
