Discussion Has anyone had an experience at Transitions Estate Sales?
I attended their sale on Arens Road yesterday, and unfortunately, I left in tears after an extremely uncomfortable interaction with one of the workers.
When I was shopping, a worker kindly offered to start a shelf for me because my arms were full. Nobody had explained that putting items on a shelf meant committing to purchase everything. When I later realized there were a few things I no longer wanted, I offered them to another customer who was looking for them. She confirmed she wanted everything I was giving up and ended up purchasing those items immediately after me.
I apologized when the shelf policy was explained to me, as I genuinely hadn’t known. However, another worker became extremely antagonistic, repeatedly reprimanding me and suggesting I had taken the opportunity away from other customers. I tried to explain the misunderstanding and find a solution, but the interaction went on for what felt like 20 minutes.
For context, the sale had only been open for around 20 minutes, there was still a line stretching down the block, and I purchased nearly $200 worth of items. The only things I didn’t buy were the items the other customer wanted and ultimately purchased.
Several people who witnessed the interaction approached me afterward. They said they hadn’t known about the policy either and felt the worker’s behaviour was out of line.
I completely understand having rules, and I have no issue with being corrected when I’ve misunderstood something. What upset me was being treated so antagonistically despite apologizing and trying to resolve the situation.
I’m not looking to start drama, but the experience has genuinely left me shaken, even the following day. I’m wondering if this was an isolated incident or if others have had similar experiences with this company. I’d appreciate hearing your experiences.
