Technology/Software/IT [0 YoE, Math Tutor, Data Analyst, U.S.]

Any advice to make my resume look better. I ideally want to work in some sort or data analysis/scientist or as an AI/ML engineer. I am almost done with my BS in Applied Math but I did not get any internships in the field I want to work in. I am also working on another personal project to add and hopefully make the research i have been working on more AI related. I am also hoping that since I have good amount of work experience that can make up for what i lack in internships, but i also know it’s not relevant experience so it might not be enough.

Any and all advice is appreciated! Thank you!

I am struggling between including technical detail and being concise, especially when trying to show my ownership level while also being technical. Like if I simplify my entries then how do I differentiate myself from someone who just used the graphRAG repo without any changes when my solution is almost entirely mine?

I am trying to target AI Engineer, FDE roles in the bay but I am also fine with full stack, and I'm wondering if i should have different resumes for each.

Which of two resumes is better and any advice is appreciated

Hello everyone! My resume is up to date, and I want to challenge myself what possible technical questions will come up during an interview, regarding my resume, and work on forming answers for them. Feedback on the formatting helps as well!

I’d like feedback and advice on my resume as I apply for SMB and Mid-Market Account Executive positions.

What should I add, remove, or improve to make my resume stand out?

Identify any weak or vague bullet points, recommend stronger alternatives, and suggest specific metrics or accomplishments I should include.

I Have a Question Trying To Find A Resume Builder Site That Has *ZERO* Gen-AI Elements In It

Ik the rules say not to advertise resume builders, but I hope this can be an exception if anyone has or knows of one as there isn't one in the wiki (the main one there is gen-ai), nor have I been able to find one in modern day.

Every time I find a site that promotes itself as no gen-ai, I get into it & there are pop ups OFFERING GEN-AI EVERYWHERE! 😭 Or it's basically the same ATS template c&p'ed different ways, no styling or colour anywhere (things you can make in Word).

I am unwilling to use a resume writer at this time, for fear they'll be using gen-ai without telling me. Sorry. 🥲

Does anyone know of a site that is a resume builder without any gen-ai that doesn't ONLY have ATS templates? Please? I'm so, so, SO desperate!

Thank you to anyone who read this & thank you a million times over if anyone can help me!

.

.

.

(Idk what type of forum this is in regards to what side of the debate we are on with gen-ai, so whichever way this swings with down/up votes doesn't matter to me, as I don't really use reddit anymore except for stuff like this; I just need A WEBSITE! Please, please, please!!! If anyone can help me, I will owe you forever! Ty! 😭)

Hi everyone, I've been applying for data science and data analyst positions at companies and banks in the GTA, Ontario, but have received nothing but rejections. Perhaps it may be because I get put in the bottom of the pile due to not being a citizen (work visa), or maybe my resume needs work.

Any advice, comments, criticisms of what my resume is lacking will be very helpful in trying to land any job suitable for me in the GTA.

If you can share job postings you think I can apply to that would be appreciated as well.

Discussion At which point do I just lie in the resume

I am finding it hard to land a Job in my field which is branding or graphic design,
I graduated just a year ago, and after graduation I directly got into a basic survival job because I needed the money. I have been in the Job for the whole year and Just left a month ago.

The thing is, I have actual 6 years of freelancing experience in design because I did it while studying, with a portfolio I believe is decent enough.

The point here is my cv now has zero experience in branding, just the "freelance" experience which based on my experience mean sh*t all to companies. So I keep getting the urge to honestly just invent just a small duration of any related experience to at least pass the Ai screening.

I don't want to do that, and I don't like lying. But I 100% believe that whatever I will lie about will be something I am genuinely capable of, so I am honestly just throwing this here to ask for opinions.

I still land freelance gigs every now and then, though a lot less consistent than before because I actually want a job.

Side note: the survival job was in customer service, so I actually got my fair share of working under huge operations, intense pressures and schedules. These are the skills that would normally be lacking from a freelancer I think.

Technology/Software/IT [0 YoE, Data Scientist Intern (Part-Time), Data Science/AI Engineer, Canada]

Post image

I spent the past 16 months interning at a data science intern at a large tech company; they liked me and extended me to work part time while I'm in school. I liked the experience, but I would like to find a new place for either Winter 2027 and/or Summer 2027 internships.

I've so far gotten 4 interviews, but I don't think they were really based on my resume. 2/4 I reached out to the hiring manager and they got me through to the OA, 1/4 was through a personal referral.

I've been applying to mostly Canada but also shooting my shot at big tech companies in the US for data science and AI/ML engineering. I am a Canadian citizen.

Is there an issue with the fact that I didn't use big data technologies like snowflake/databricks/bigquery at my work and only in projects? Would recruiters not like that? I did use dbt & airflow, but not sure if a lack of snowflake/db/bigquery in experience is an issue. Are there any other red flags or things I'm missing in terms of impact?

Would appreciate any tips on how I can improve it to pass ATS + recruiter screens!

My "Industry" is more government finance than accounting, with a heavy lean on digital transformation. I've skated by this whole time on internal job appointments, so this is my first time in pretty much my whole career that there are real stakes to my resume.

I'm just looking for a sanity check really, that I haven't forgotten or missed some big faux-pas and that it's cohesive.

I'm applying to a job "pool" so it's a relatively generic application, for any accounting/finance/financial systems jobs.

Thanks!

Engineering [1 year of internship/co-op experience, Master's Student, Entry-Level AI/ML Engineer, United States] Seeking honest resume feedback

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m completing my master’s in Data Analytics Engineering in December 2026 and applying for entry-level/new-grad roles in the U.S.

I’m targeting:

  • AI Engineer / Applied AI Engineer
  • Machine Learning Engineer
  • Data Scientist
  • Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer
  • Data Analyst / Business Intelligence Analyst
  • Backend Software Engineer / Software Engineer I

My experience includes an AI developer co-op, a data analyst internship, and projects involving machine learning, OCR, model deployment, and MLOps.

I’d appreciate direct, honest feedback on:

  • What looks weak, unclear, exaggerated, or difficult to believe?
  • Do the bullets explain my contributions and impact clearly?
  • Is there too much technical detail or too many tools listed?
  • Does the resume feel unfocused because I’m targeting several types of roles?
  • Which roles does this resume support best, and what should I change for the others?
  • Is the formatting easy to scan?

Finance/Banking [2 YoE, Analytics Consultant, Sportsbook Trading Analyst, New York]

Post image

Been applying for sportsbook trading, market ops, and data analyst jobs for a few months now and I’m barely getting interviews. The few I did get almost all came from referrals. Friend at a sportsbook got me in, someone I knew got me in. Cold applications are basically a black hole. I’ve sent out a lot and I get nothing back, not even a screen.

So either the resume is the problem or how I’m applying is the problem, and I honestly can’t tell which. MBA in finance, a few analytics and ops jobs at startups, a short stint at a big tech company, some finance work. Not a long career yet. The betting and poker section is on there on purpose because the jobs I want are at sportsbooks and prediction markets and that’s actually relevant to them, but I’m open to hearing it’s hurting me.

Would appreciate honest feedback. Roast it. What’s wrong with this and what do I change so it actually gets past the first screen without someone vouching for me?

What am I missing to be able to get into the type of field I aspire to get into? The only issue I currently have is I feel I would need to re-locate to get this type of position, but I dont have the means to be able to relocate right now, as I am unemployed.

Technology/Software/IT [0 YOE, Graduated 2 years ago, Data Analyst, UK]

Post image

I graduated with a Masters degree in Data Analytics 2 years ago and I still cant find a job. I have no relevant office experience, my only recent work experience is working as a self employed food delivery driver, which I don't even put on my CV because while I have no issues with it, I feel like its not relevant and people may look down on me.

My CV has my degree, some of the major projects I done plus my dissertation, some mini projects I have been doing in my own time and the software tools I have experience with. Still I don't even get offered interviews anymore like I used to when I graduated. I feel like, and I don't blame employers for this, they prefer fresh grads over me, and from what I'm hearing about 100s of applications per job, I feel like I have no chance. At this point, I just want some sort of office job to get some experience in the office doesn't even have to be an analyst role, could be admin, service desk, customer service etc, anything will do. This is my CV, any advice on what to do next? Am I too overqualified for a simple office job if I purely just want some office experience?

Hey y'all.

I am a second year student currently applying for my first Co-op term in the winter. I would prefer a job related to data science but I am aware that's probably a stretch with my skills. I'd take anything Data/software related.

Am willing to relocate.

I just wanna fine tune the resume as I have yet to get any interviews.

Thanks.

General/Other Industries [0 YoE, Recent Graduate, Economics and Management, Europe]

Post image

Hi all and happy weekend!
I've finally finished my Master's too and, after a break, I'm redoing my CV. I'd mostly apply to economics, institutional and management roles in the EU. So I'm here to ask for your opinions on a few points.

Layout

  • For the contact line, should I use a different icon for each item, or just one separator?
  • The icons are now text characters, before they were cropped images. Which is better for ATS and automated scans?
  • Should I keep the section titles black or make them blue or bordeaux?
  • Should I keep the hyperlink on my email too?

Experience

  • Should I list every task I did, or remove the less useful ones to leave room for the others? Some people tell me "include everything if you don't have much experience", others the opposite. Since I'm applying abroad, I'd like to show that I've worked in different languages several times.
  • I was a "Junior Project Manager" in a student association (a Junior Enterprise) for the first semester, and in the second one you become "Senior". Should I specify that it was a student association?

Education

  • I have a double degree: one year in one country, one year in another, with a thesis supervised by professors from both universities. At the host university I attended the Master's in "Political Economy", but the degree awarded is in "Public Economics and Public Finance". Should I list them as two separate entries, each with its own dates, or as a single entry with the programme name?

Sorry for the long post, I hope I was clear enough.
Thanks in advance to anyone who stops by to give advice and have a great weekend :)

Human Resources [10 YoE, Customer Service, Federal Job (DSHS/Courthouse/ DOL/..ect), Washington state] Been applying for jobs for the last year and only a handful of interviews

Post image

hello! i’ve been working retail type jobs for most of my life doing customer service stuff. the last 3 years been doing more manager kinda stuff without the pay and i’ve been trying to finally start building a career.

i’ve applied all over my town to most of the state/federal/government type jobs, i’ve interviewed with a few of them over the years and had my references called a few times, but i’ve never landed anything. i’ve been applying to other things like the offices of caregiving facilities, receptionist at the public defender and one of the vet clinics, but i don’t even receive an interview.

i’ve been working my current job for 5 years and i’m kinda a face customers know and look for nowadays which i thought would help me land a job. i’m pretty essential to keeping things moving smoothly at my job and i’ve never received any complaints
is there anything i could do to buff up my resume? is it because i’m only a high school graduate? my resume only shows local grocery stores and i’m applying for something bigger?

any help would be appreciated! thank you!

Hey everyone I've applied to about 30+ plus jobs so far I have only received two interviews. One interview didn't make it past the 1st round and I am still waiting on the third round interview for another position. So if I could get some critics on resume that would be a huge help. Thank you

feel like i have tried everything, applied to about 400 jobs with only 2 phone screens.

asked ai, made like 3 different iterations of my resume for front end and full stack roles. currently using an apply bot but only landed one phone screen in like 150 applications. tried linkedin cold messaging recruiters, tried applying to jobs posted within 24 hours, tried narrowing my search at hiring cafe. asked for about 5 referrals all rejected.

thinking about signing up for a career coach to help me land a job (they do bot apply, resume fix, linkedin fix, 1:1 peer reviews on everything including DSA but i mean i cant even land interviews) should i do it?
