I keep coming back to watch this because of how happy it makes me. That is one spoiled slug. Awesome video and setup.

What type of camera do you use? I've been looking for a secondary camera for my terrariums and I really like how clear everything looks. The one I have right now seems to focus on sticks or random things instead of the snails I have

It's a Ubiquiti G5 Pro, which is kind of pricy, especially because it needs an NVR, and it needs a wired connection to your network. But it's 4k, the storage is all local, it has a really great app, and there's no monthly costs.
The minimum you'd need to spend is about $1k, and my setup ended up costing a bit more than that because I couldn't reasonably run an Ethernet cable to where it's set up, so I added a WiFi receiver...
If that's in your budget, I'll send you all the links for what I use. You have to use one of the cameras in the pro line, because those are the only ones with manual focus options, which I've found to be necessary when recording things that are so close.

It's definitely going on my shopping list but I'll have to wait until next year after I move. This is more than just a hobby for me and it would definitely be worth it. I really look up to that guy that has all of the huge vivariums in his home. I want to have slugs and snails in different enclosures so I can study the differences between the species and what they like to eat and how they each mate. The current camera I have is better than nothing but I can't figure out how to do much with the app. All I've been able to do so far is see my time lapse for each day, it's a full 24 hours in 2 minutes. It's not good for seeing things up close but I can see what foods they go for and how active they are. So far I have four different species of snails and I had the opportunity to get slugs but I'm waiting until after I move so I can get a large enclosure for them.

Ah, gotcha! Well hit me up if you need help with it when you get to that point. It records in real-time, but the app lets you quickly scroll through the footage, and it lets you export clips at whatever speed you'd like. I also like that because it's 4k, you can just crop the video down afterwards to where you care about the action and it still looks good. The video here in my post is cropped down to about half of what it actually captured.

That's exactly what I want to find in a camera. It sounds wonderful and I definitely want to work on getting that. I will try to reach out once I get situated. I really appreciate all the information! ☺️
