Gear question Nitro Dinghy vs K2 Sky Pilot thoughts
Went to the shop recently looking for a stable, damp, but still fun resort board. Was recommended the Dinghy and SkyPilot. Both seem sweet and share some similarities. My biggest thing is protecting my leading knee. I'm still intermediate and looking at something to progress on but I can last all day from charging with the boys or looking for sides hits whike my wife rides greens. I'm worried with the Dinghy that it's a little too wide and aggressive for my knee to handle all day. I'm not sure if I can demo either in South Lake Tahoe. Any thoughts?

I dunno, the dinghy is one of my favorite all time boards ever. I’m 6’1, 200 lbs and rode a 156 wide and absolutely loved it. Super run and playful board, and now they make a full run of sizes, definitely will be looking for a bigger size so I have a little more high-speed stability. And Nitro is a great brand to support. Still independent and rider-owned, warranty is great. Honestly can’t say enough good things about Nitro.

I’d also say Sky Pilot. It’s specifically designed to be easier to turn. Dinghy is quite wide which is more work to turn.

Dinghy is extremely turny, it's more of a pow/tree, tight turns, party board than a daily driving charger / side hitter for all day with the boys. It's wide but very easy to turn, great board, but not really what you're describing. I'd go sky pilot, it's much more of a generalist, all day, daily driver, versatile type board. They're both great, but for your needs, sky pilot.

I'd lean SkyPilot if your knee is the main concern. Dinghy is fun but it asks for more input all day, and that extra width can make edge-to-edge feel sluggish when you're not really pushing it. SkyPilot still handles speed and side hits fine but it won't beat you up on slower runs with your wife.
