I want to have my own snowboard boots, and would relly prefer to have laces included for cutsom tightning on my boots. ive researched a bit on "Salomon X Approach Lace SJ Boa", and they have a good rating, but sum said, that after they have used them a bit the heel hold wasnt as good as when they just tried them on. does anybody have good experince with them? We dont have a lot of ski shops here in denmark, and those we have dont have the boots.

Riding question Learning styles while snowboarding - what’s your experience/any videos to check out? (See text)

Hey all! I’m somewhat of an intermediate boarder at this point and am comfortable on blues and getting into black. My friend who started around the same time as I did a couple years ago is still having trouble on green runs and I think part of the problem is that our learning styles might be really different?

I tend to learn based on whole body feel and my husband/instructor taught me that way and it all kinda clicked for me fairly easily with some experimentation and minor corrections. My friend is asking what to do like… with her knees hips and toes and shoulders and I’m having a really hard time describing what it is I’m doing because I honestly don’t know. My husband is a little better than me, but I think he also just doesn’t think that granular about his movements either.

She’s taken a couple lessons and improved marginally but continues to have questions that people seem to be having a hard time answering. Does anyone know of some videos/articles that I could send my friend to help her out for the upcoming season that might be more in this vein?

For reference, we go about twice a week during the winter/early spring, sometimes 3x so we’re getting decent time in. We also helped her adjust her setup after some prodding which helped a little bit but doesn’t seem to be the entirety of the issue

Gear question ISO: Unwanted Union Charger Split (or Quiver) Discs

I’m working on a design for DIY ascent plates (along the lines of Auftriib Saucer/Crampow) specific for the Union Charger bindings. Something lighter/more packable than Verts for hiking in powder in combination with a split. If anyone has a set of Union Charger split or quiver disks with rotational play they aren’t using and willing to donate, I would appreciate it before buying a new set just to modify them. Goal is to have multiple methods to mount the bindings (rotate/fliplock vs touring bracket and fliplock) to also allow the use of Union’s crampon attachment based on individual use case.

Ultimately planning to share the build with the sub (with instructions) when it’s complete. Thanks!

general discussion Should I downsize or get a new board for my quiver?

I am 5ft 10, 209lbs and have a size 12 boot and currently ride a 162W Custom X. I love carving and high speeds, but this year I’m planning on getting a bit more playful and learning some new tricks (more butters). And was wondering if I should just get an entirely new park board. Or get something I’m familiar with and downsize. Like a 158W Custom, thoughts and recommendations are very welcome!

Also! I was debating on downsizing anyways to see if I can initiate turns better. I am an intermediate-advanced rider.

general discussion Anyone Have Experience Moving to the Mountains for a Season? Looking for Advice

I only work summers and will have about 6 months off October to march/April, it’s been a dream of mine to go out west(I am on the east coast) and work for a mountain as honestly whatever job I can get. Does anyone have experience with this, where do I apply, when should I apply, should I look out west or should I even look toward going to Europe or even Japan. I know most of the start dates are from October and November to around mid march so I’m not really worried about that. Also anyone’s previous experience with doing that if there is any specific jobs I should want. Would love to also have some time each day to get on the mountain and I just want to move with a backpack full of clothes and a snowboard bag. Obviously this season might be too late so I am planning for next year to do this. Any input or advice would be great.

Gear question Yes Sender Yes or No?

Hi,

I’m thinking of adding a new board to my quiver (why not?).

I’m 175 lbs, 6 1 tall and 42 boot size for reference and solid intermediate rider.

Currently, I have a 157 Capita Mercury and a 156 Rome Artifact. The Mercury is awesome for carving, all mountain and going hard when resort isn’t very crowded, however is very physically demanding for going a few days in a row and a bit dead when going slow in crowded weekends. Don’t want to fuck up the edges in the park.

The Rome Artifact is a lot of fun in park and pretty presseable for trying new stuff but become a bit washy and hard to control when reaching higher speeds, it also lacks a bit of pop when trying side hits in uneven terrain.

I was thinking of adding a 50-50 freestyle but all mountain capable boards to the quiver, to have fun in the resort but being able to hit park laps as well.

I was thinking of a 152 Yes Sender I’ve seen on sale but I can’t find much information as it is a new model from this past season. Any info or recommendation? Is it for what I’m looking for? Specially on the size where 152 seems to be good up to 187 lbs.

The other board I looked into was a Rome Agent 156.

Gear question 686 Dojo Pant Redesign?

Thumbnail

Curious if anyone else has run into this. I tried on Dojo Goretex pant in a shop. Loved them but wanted a color they didn’t have. I then ordered the same pant but in my preferred color direct from 686, and the pair that arrived is totally different.

The pair I bought direct has no elastic waist or cuffs instead it has a zipper and button fly with a wide flared hem at the pant bottom.

686 support told me the pair I received is current production and not a defect, calling it an intentional design update. But 686's website still show and describe an elastic waist with belt and elastic cuffs, and I can't find any announcement of a redesign.

Is this like a production error or was there an actual redesign the listings haven't caught up with? Has anyone else bought a new Dojo? Did yours come with or without the elastic waist and cuffs?

general discussion Best Ski Resort For Young Scene Work

Hey all I’ll be graduating college early so I can go work a ski season at a resort. It’s almost overwhelming with the number of resorts and potential jobs to choose from, but at the end of the day all I care about is the experience and accommodation. I don’t care about pay really I’m not looking to get rich that season I’m just looking to have fun and meet other people my age.

What resorts would you recommend with the biggest young scene for someone coming to work a season ? Young scene as in lots young kids working with me and a fun night life. Thinking about mammoth, Copper, and Big Sky.

Gear question Jones Flagship Nerfed?

Hey folks, it looks like there's nothing online about the 2027 flagship today. The 2027 model got rid of the bamboo in its construction, as well as a reduced sintered base. I'd love to hear from any folks who have bought it and maybe have had an older flagship model to compare to. What's it really like in hand? Does it feel less poppy? What was your impression of this board?

See if we can crowdsource some information with a new season kicking off and people buying their new gear

travel advice Oregon resort conditions

Hi all,

In January I'll be flying from the UK to Oregon to see my in laws and the opportunity to ride some American resorts may pop up.

I've ridden different resorts but not much in America. I've heard Mount Bachelor and Hoodo are ones to target.

What would be the better one for hopefully powder in January?
