Curious if anyone else has run into this. I tried on Dojo Goretex pant in a shop. Loved them but wanted a color they didn’t have. I then ordered the same pant but in my preferred color direct from 686, and the pair that arrived is totally different.
The pair I bought direct has no elastic waist or cuffs instead it has a zipper and button fly with a wide flared hem at the pant bottom.
686 support told me the pair I received is current production and not a defect, calling it an intentional design update. But 686's website still show and describe an elastic waist with belt and elastic cuffs, and I can't find any announcement of a redesign.
Is this like a production error or was there an actual redesign the listings haven't caught up with? Has anyone else bought a new Dojo? Did yours come with or without the elastic waist and cuffs?
I literally bought my first Dojos today and I had the exact same issue. I was disappointed to see them with minimal elastic cuffs at the ankle hem. So yeah, they flare out like bell bottoms.
Are the ankles all loose when you put them on? We havent gotten our 686 yet for the year but that looks a little different than what I have on the rack from last year
I just bought mine too and was on the same boat, kinda disappointed. I haven't removed the tags yet to keep the option to return it but the waist had elastic with the belt but the ankles barely felt like they would shrink.
I really wanted the previous model but my color was sold out🫤
Looks like they have the old design photo and the new design photo on the website. I have a few pairs from the past and none of them have a zip up fly. They definitely are changing the design which is unfortunate because I loved the old style.
Are you in EU or something? I’m based in the U.S. and looking at the 686 site (and from your screenshots, so are you) and the Goretex Dojo photos shown to me are the exact pant that you purchased. The photos you screenshot from 686.com are pretty different from the ones that I’m seeing (which look very very close to the pants that you received).
It does look like your production version does not have as much bunching on the elastic hem, which makes it hard to tell if it’s a QC issue or if 686 designers intentionally changed the elastic specification on the cuff after the photos for the website were taken.
Unfortunately the only way to verify would be for you to check out multiple pairs at a store or order multiple pairs to your home and see if there is a huge difference between them.
I agree with you though - it’s pretty annoying seeing one look on the website (which clearly looks like a tighter elastic cuff) vs getting the product and seeing that it’s pretty much a standard opening with the bare minimum of elastic hem.
Just letting you know, I bought 3 different sizes of the Dojo to try on and all of them had the same wide hem with minimal elastic that feels stretched out. If my memory serves me correctly, the non gore Tex version I tried in store, (light green crinkle) were more elastic along the hem. All this years model.
I emailed back and forth with customer service. She said she is confirming with the product team but based on the pants she saw she is assuming there was a redesign. It’s weird because the website pictures, which are all in the new colors and logos, don’t show a redesign, so wondering if she is seeing the same bad product I got? I dunno. Miffed.
“I am in the process of confirming with the product team but after seeing the pants in person, I think it is safe to say we did update our design on these.
I will confirm and reach back out!”
I didn’t hear back for a bit so reached back out and got:
”I did personally confirm that the pants you received are the current production version, so you did not receive a defect.
“I’m still waiting to hear back regarding the specific updates that were made during the redesign. However, based on what I’ve seen so far, it does appear that the revision of the elastic cuffs was one of those changes.”
