I don’t know a single useful use of this car if it’s even gonna happen at all. Imagine how much good he can be doing with all that money.

If I’m honest, I’d rather him fritter away his money on stupid shit like this than on ads to get rubes to vote against their own best interest.

He's doing both. He's already pumped over 100 million into midterms.

u/Maharog 7h ago

He cant fritter away all his money. He can lose $999,999,999,999  and still have more money then all of the people on reddit combined. He is that obscenely ritch.

Not obscene, it's offensively rich.

2

u/According_Concert_17 6h ago

He’s actually doing that look at how much he’s spending on the midterms

2

u/AcademicChildhood161 6h ago

Why not both?

Unfortunately this didn’t going to cost him anything.

Except that exactly what he does… every donation he’s ever made to the MAGA movement is him trying to convince people to vote against their own interests…

It’s ridiculous. A jumping car? Yeah man, ahhhhhh, neat……A MAGA person was telling me that this is the precursor to flying cars. I drove 12 hrs yesterday from Destin, FL and I don’t WANT these mafuckers to have wings, people are completely ate up with the dumbass here on the ground as it is.

2

u/TheBlankScroll 6h ago

Damn people are dumb, do they not know that airplanes are like MOSTLY gastank? And those arent keeping themselves in the air via vertical thrust.

Maga are dumb as bricks.

Someone said in another thread 'if you get into a collision it will land the car and save your life' and I tried to explain to them why 500 pounds of explodium is a dumb idea when so much engineering already goes into making car crashes survivable.

Then they tried to say 'no it will PREVENT the collision'. Yeah, sure buddy. It'll preemptively launch a fucking car in the air and land it somewhere safe before you ever make contact. I'm sure that won't cause any unnecessary damage to anything.

"Sorry, won't be to work on time because my car thought the guy tailgating me was an imminent threat and now I'm tangled in power lines... actually fuck that this call doesn't exist because I fucking died when all that unfolded"

They can hardly handle two-dimensional navigation, don’t give them three!

A flying car has been created, though it's more of a street legal hobby plane with folding wings that you can park in your garage and drive to the nearest airport

u/Easy_Employment_1595 5h ago

Well fuck, I hate it.

u/Hammer_the_Red2 7h ago

It's usefulness is being a distraction. "Look at what this car can do!" Ignore the other stuff going on over there.

Marketing. It's solely about marketing. He keeps trying and trying but there is nothing anyone can do to make that dumpster on wheels look cool.

Film stunts!

u/Suspicious-Still-999 7h ago

which is where they got the tech from lol

1

u/Maharog 7h ago

Be pretty good in some sort of police chase situation where police dont have time to have helicopters following you yet...so you see its a very useful feature!

Skipping DUI checkpoints

Classic Elon grift. It’s his business model : so to science fiction and promise us a technology that is inapplicable in the real world : bionic mind control, commercial space travel, self-driving cars, hyperspeed loop, flying cars… it gets people talking and a huge amount of investments, but none of it really works.

This shell of a car full of compressed air will bring him loads of money, but it will never work as we imagine.

The stock market agrees with you. Useless offering. Wasted research and development costs. Poor decision making. Uncertain future. Stock slides down.

That's exactly what people said about the iPad when it was first released /s.

A better comparison would be the cyber truck and people were right

You really have little knowledge of how inventions like this move the human race forward. Some inventions have little practical purpose, yet the knowledge and engineering created can spread across countless other applications. Some argue that going to the moon was a waste of resources when compared to what was derived. Yet in the pursuit of the moon we made incredible strides in many technologies. Microprocessors for example. Which lead the way to computing as we know it. To say this is ridiculous is to not understand technological advances as a whole on a macro scale.

1

u/ThinkBoysenberry4122 7h ago

They didn’t call it ridiculous.

1

u/LossChoice 6h ago

Well, we've had thruster based tech like that since the 60's and 20 years ago a dude in his garage could have cooked up a balancing system like that with an Arduino. Also, the car was hollowed out. I'm having a hard time seeing which tech was advanced here? This was just a really really cool publicity stunt.

u/wet_Tap_5578 6h ago

Again. You don’t seem to grasp the idea.

1

u/LossChoice 6h ago

Lolol, sure.

1

u/AZDADDYisadeviant 6h ago

Hes not here to move the human race forward. Hes here to suck at the teat of the federal government

u/supremecheet 7h ago

This makes you look like a moron.
