The people that think Elon actively designs anything are some of the biggest idiots in the world

tbf he had a great deal of influence in the cybertruck's design and ... it didn't turn out so well

This... Also this isn't fully functional car but more like shell of it with rockets.

Y'all sure that video isnt AI....I just assumed it was

It was a live demo with an audience… so, no.

(Just to be clear: I fucking hate Musk).

Same. But like it’s a neat trick. But what’s the practicality of this? Hopping over the stopped school bus? Then what, land on a kid?

What does it cost to fill up those nitrogen tanks?

Anyone that has any concept of cars would know that this car will never be street legal.

Was Elon the one who brought on a dancer dressed like a robot to “demo” the robots he’s DEFINITELY gonna have ready in the next couple of years, or was that another dead behind the eyes soulless goon?

I imagine their using some high pressure vessel to supply the thruster. Doesn’t sound that safe when you get into a car crash..

Seriously. He literally pays people to figure it out and his company takes all the credit

That’s down to even the company itself.

Actual inventors and entrepreneurs build and figure out and design the company and product… figure out all the creative, inventive stuff.

Then he swoops in, buys it up, does a bunch of press about “his new company” so now in the public eye it’s Elon musks company.

Then he cooks up a bunch of ideas any given 8 year old could conjure in their imagination and tells the engineers he hired to get to work making it happen.

He proceeds to crack the whip and berate them for a bunch of years, also moving the goalposts constantly so the engineers need to be constantly shuffling to redesign and reconfigure.

Then after the blood, sweat, and tears of the actual workers produces fruit, he’s the first guy on stage saying look what I did.

So.. a lot of people just think he’s some tech wizard genius savant… when in reality he’s just crafted a mythos around himself and he’s just really good at investment gambles and manipulating stock prices with his clout.

It made me laugh when he called mamdani a taker and never a maker because Elon is exactly that… he pays other people to grow apples, then he carries the basket into town and says look at these apples I grew. Musk has *made* very little in life.

Elon's part in the design process is "you know what would be cool guys a car that could do a back flip okay im gone ill be back in 15yrs please get it done"

Man throwing shade on the entire Republican party lol

If this came from Koenigsegg you know Christian had a hand in it, but just about any other car manufacturer the CEO is not involved in the actual design development details. He may have said "can we put rocket booster on it?", but that's not designing how they will work or programming the system.

What's really annoying to me is that while this is neat, it's not applicable at all to anyone. They didnt come up with a new more efficient motor, or traction system to control the wheels, they just added rockets.

On brand with rest of their ideologies

People grew up on on the idea of super scientists inventing magic by themselves in a lab. You'll never be able to convince them that this isn't how the real world works.

2

u/doctordoctorpuss 6h ago

In real life, super scientists are hamstrung by having to book instrument time and unreliable international shipping (at least that’s what I told myself in grad school). That or being bogged down in fucking grant applications and trying to manage the occasional antisocial underling

Dont even start on having to navigate middle and upper management staffed with nepos and charismatic idiots.

I worked with a kid at our pretty high ranked university who couldn’t grasp why the sample he was working with couldn’t have a negative mass. He just wrote it down in his notebook like a good little boy. My boss had me holding this dude’s hands and he just fucked up at every turn. No idea how he got into our program, but thankfully he mastered out and stopped being my problem

u/Bridgeru 1h ago

He was just trying to fit the sample into his Alcubierre Drive thesis project, so don't worry he wasn't THAT stupid...
