Perhaps because President Ford was never hit.

But he was a target on two separate occasions by two women in September 1975, in California. The first was a Manson cult member, the second an FBI informant turned left-wing activist.

John Wilkes Booth wasn't even a Democrat. He belonged to the "Know Nothing Party. Also known as the "American Party".

He was a confederate sympathizer who was particular enraged that Lincoln supported voting rights for black Americans.

Had to read me up on the topic. Seems the official name was The American Party, or originally The Native American Party"

Strongly "nativist" and anti-immigration.

Disintegrated after 1856, with remaining members drifting into the Republican Party or the Constitutional Union Party.
