New Release “Snow Queen” by Suffocatus (Instrumental Symphonic Metal) - Single
For those who love Nightwish and Haggard.
I tried to blend the fairytale atmosphere of old Disney animated films with classical music in this composition. As always, I drew inspiration from the works of Liszt, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff.
I hope you enjoy it.
Sincerely yours,
Suffocatus.

Discussion Need recommendations for expanding my listening!
Hi, I got into symphonic metal a few years ago starting with Nightwish and have since expanded to quite a few bands, and am looking for some recommendations to expand further.
I thought if I listed to what I’ve listened to so far with a brief summary of my thoughts then it might help with some tailored recommendations:
- Nightwish - All albums, love everything except their debut.
- Epica - All albums, love everything, have seen live twice.
- Within Temptation - All albums, love everything except their debut which I struggled to get into. Have seen live once.
- Xandria - Listened to everything from Neverworlds End onwards, really enjoy the band despite lack of originality. Have seen live once.
- Visions of Atlantis - Only listened to the 2x pirate albums but really love them. Have seen live once.
- Ad Infitium - All albums, love it all, have seen live twice.
- Seven Spires - All albums, phenomenal, seen live twice.
- Leaves Eyes - Only listened to more recent albums (Viking ones), enjoy but not my favourite.
- Sirenia - a few albums, still exploring their discography. Seem to enjoy the newer stuff which most people seem to dislike.
- Amaranrthe - All albums, I know not really symphonic but including anyway. Really like them despite cheesiness, have seen live once.
- Charlotte Wessels - Just listened to the Obsession as she was opening for Epica. Really loved the album and she was great live.
I was thinking of listening to some of Delains albums next given I enjoyed Charlottes solo one.

New Release Fading Light - Poltergeist
Another great track ... and yeah, i know it's more symphonic black rather than regular symphonic metal, but still ...!

Discussion Mizuho Lin (Semblant) is a promising candidate to be the new singer of Nightwish
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Mizuho Lin is a Brazilian singer and the current lead vocalist for the melodic death metal band Semblant. A vocal coach and a powerhouse soprano, she is capable of transitioning between operatic, pop, and metal vocal styles, as well as growls and more. She is 36 years old, and cites Tarja and Floor as her primary vocal inspirations. Semblant is currently on hiatus with an uncertain future, following the departure of their male vocalist and drummer earlier this year. It seems like the perfect moment for her to step up to a major metal band, and she would certainly honor the legacy of Tarja, Anette, and Floor, while bringing her own unique personality to future material. She is my candidate!

Is singing on playback getting more common?
Hey guys,
I've seen Xandria, Seven Spires and Secret Rule yesterday live and I'm sure that Xandria and probably Secret rule were singing on playback. Seven Spires I couldnt say but I think it was live. In summer Visions of Atlantis Michele - male singer was singing on playback for sure, Clementine maybe - not confirmed, but her singing was almost too clean. Before covid I have seen many shows - maybe 200 but I rarely got feeling its not live.
I understand its difficult to perform every day but I really dont like it. If its on playback, I can stay at home and watch it on youtube. I always appreciated everything being live - even with some mistakes - at least its authentic. I'm 100% sure that Xandria and VoA Michele were on playback because both once forgot mic down next to waist in their hand but kept siging :-).
What is your experience? is this getting more common? Do you care about playback or its ok for you?
Edit: I made this post to share experience. I don't want to argue or blame anyone.
