REQUESTING I’m off until next Sunday! Recommend me some underrated TV shows and anime to binge-watch
Hey everyone!
I have time off until next Sunday, and I’m looking for some good shows to binge-watch. I feel like I’ve watched most of the popular stuff, so I’m hoping to discover some hidden gems that deserve more attention.
I’m looking for:
📺 Underrated TV shows — any genre, preferably something that deserves way more recognition.
🎌 Anime recommendations — something engaging that hooks you within the first few episodes.
🕵️ Mystery, thriller, crime, comedy, sci-fi, clever plots, heists, or mind games are all welcome.
💎 Lesser-known shows that you rarely see people recommending.
I’m not really into horror, so I’d prefer to avoid that.
It doesn’t matter if the show is old or new, or whether it has 12 episodes or multiple seasons. I just want something worth spending my time off watching!
What’s your favourite underrated show or anime that you wish more people knew about?
Thanks! 🙌

Interview with the Vampire! (2022 tv show)

If you like LA and police shit, Bosch.
If you like time travel, 12 Monkeys.
If you like cussing and Wild West, deadwood.
If you like space and chaotic good ethos, the expanse.
If you like American drunk assholes, it’s always sunny in Philadelphia.
If you like Canadian drunk assholes, trailer park boys.
If you like vampires True Blood.
If you like existential weirdness, the leftovers.

Interior Chinatown. One season with a proper conclusion on Hulu. Jimmy O Yang plays a waiter at a Chinese Restaurant who discovers that his entire reality is fictional. Obviously, he investigates it. His best friend is played by Ronny Chieng. It's funny, but also good science fiction.
Patriot on Amazon. Two season, the first one is better in my opinion. It's not everybody's cup of tea for sure. If you don't like the first episode, it's probably just not for you. It's about a depressed covert agent who would rather be a folk singer. I'd say if you like the Coen Brothers, you'll probably enjoy it. Lots of made-up terminology, some defined, some just kind of strung together like a Jabberwocky of engineering.
The Chair Company on HBO, one season in 2025, supposedly there's another season coming. Tim Robinson plays a property development guy who gets embarrassed by a defective chair and uncovers a mysterious conspiracy involving office chairs, or maybe he's just crazy. Or both? Anyway, I felt like people talked about this a lot, but mostly just the end of episode five. But I never see anyone mention it anymore. It's Tim Robinson, so if you don't like cringe/awkwardness comedy, it's not for you.
The Curse, one season on Showtime with a satisfying conclusion. I've heard there might be another season. This is another cringe comedy about a married couple who are property developers, but with an artistic angle. Nathan Fielder and Emma Stone, and one of the Safdie brothers. Not the worse one. cringe/awkwardness comedy. A little girl puts a curse on this guy who already has a lot going on and things spiral out of control, maybe just a little faster than they were going to anyway. It gets weird.
The Knick, two seasons. It was on Cinemax. I don't even know if it's streaming anywhere. Directed by Stephen Soderbergh and starring Clive Owen as a brilliant post civil war surgeon/cocaine addict in New York City. It's pretty gory with the surgery stuff, but it's so good. Lots of great characters and side stories.

Look it just might be me when I'm depressed and not feeling good about myself. But you really can't go wrong with a parks and recreation/community combo.
