REQUESTING Looking for a miniseries that will completely consume my life. Any recommendations?

I’m looking for a really immersive miniseries that I can completely lose myself in. You know those shows where you’re so invested in the story and characters that you can’t stop watching, and when it’s over, you almost feel sad that it’s done? That’s what I’m after!

A few that have given me that feeling:
- The Queen’s Gambit
- 1883
- Normal People
- Lucky (just finished this one!)

And while it’s not technically a miniseries, Heated Rivalry absolutely gave me that same feeling lol.

As you can probably tell, I’m open to pretty much any genre. It doesn’t necessarily need to be a thriller, romance, historical drama, or anything specific. I’m more interested in incredible storytelling, compelling characters, and that feeling of being completely transported into another world.
I’d prefer a miniseries or limited series with a complete story rather than something with five seasons to get through.

What miniseries have you watched that you genuinely couldn’t stop thinking about afterward?

Would love any recommendations!

REQUESTING Just devoured Haunting of Hill House/ Bly Manor.. need anything similar!

I just fell in love with Hill House and Bly Manor.. and now feel totally empty (I know I'm like 8 years late haha). I'm looking for that same type of emotional journey you go on/ shows with a big emotional payoff. Would love any recommendations of shows that give the same vibe (not any other Mike Flanagan shows because I've also seen them all!)

Others I have seen and loved: The Leftovers, Station Eleven, The 100, Orphan Black, Banshee

Thank you in advance!!

REQUESTING Looking for shows that release weekly

• Upvotes

I'm trying to have a show releasing on every day of the week so I have something to look forward to while coming home every evening. Genre doesn't really matter I will watch anything really, but what is pretty important is that I would prefer for it to be a show with a pretty active fanbase, that's why I want something currently releasing. Here's the days I currently have filled.

Mondays - Taskmaster Poland (ends in three weeks, so slot will be open soon)

Tuesdays - Vison Quest

Wednesdays - Helluva Boss (like I said, I will watch anything)

Thursdays - looking for recs

Firdays - Taskmaster UK (the season is also ending soon, and I know the episodes come out on thursdays, but that the middle of the night in my timezone so I gotta watch it the next day)

Saturdays - open slot

Sunday - open slot

Let me know if you know any shows that come out in these days!

REQUESTING Finished iZombie and Veronica Mars back-to-back. Where do I go from here?

A few weeks ago, I binged iZombie in 10 days and asked here about fun quips from the show that stood out to yall. In the comment threads, a bunch of good people pointed me toward Veronica Mars. And I just finished it today.

What an absolute ride! Discovering this side of TV has been so much fun. I'm realising I'm a big fan of snappy writing, mystery-of-the-week mixed with long arcs, and incredible leads.

Huge thanks to everyone who suggested it.

Now that I’m hooked on this style, I come to you once again: what show should I move to next? What else do yall love that has similar writing and discovery?

Edit:

Keep these coming, this is becoming a really cool watchlist. I started watching Party Down rn.

REQUESTING Looking for something like these shows

Sopranos

The Gentlemen

The End of the Fucking World

Attack on Titan

Jujutsu Kaisen

Chainsaw Man

I know this is a broad list. These are some of my favorite shows of recent times and I would like some recommendations. I scroll through Netflix, or HBOMax and I haven't had any show that really catches my eye. Any comment is appreciated. Can be animated or live action, however is fine.

Too Much…worth the watch!

It doesn’t look like it’s coming back for another season. It’s clever, realistic, funny and very relatable to those in NYC.

REQUESTING Period/ Historical Shows where a woman in power has a kid with a different man, and nothing bad happens to her for it.

• Upvotes

Hello, I have been watching period dramas becuase bored, and the man can have 30 kids with 30 different women and nothing bad happens to him, so I was wondering if there were any TV shows or movies where a woman is in a strong enough position where she can do the same. Nobody is killing her or punishing her. People don't have to like her or be okay with what is going on, but nothing bad happens to her for it. I would like a subplot it doesn't have to be what the story is about. The only one I can think of is rhaenyra targaryen, and a movie called anonymous. Thank you

Upload. The simulation within a simulation twist they robbed us of: Go back and watch Episode 1

Is anyone else still frustrated by how streaming platforms rush creators and ruin potentially legendary sci-fi twists? The sci-fi comedy series Upload is the perfect example of this. For context, the show's premise is set in a near future where people can choose to "upload" their consciousness into a virtual reality afterlife when they die. While the later seasons ended up focusing on corporate clones and rushed political plots, the writers absolutely intended to reveal from day one that the "Real World" where the living characters lived was also just another virtual simulation with its own bugs.

If you go back to Episode 1x01 (the Pilot), there is an incredibly deliberate hint that everyone forgets:

• When the protagonist, Nathan, is still ALIVE in the physical world, he visits his mom and starts spinning his curly-haired cousin around the living room.

• If you look closely at that fast spinning shot, there is a literal rendering glitch: Nathan’s body rotates fully, but his head and hair freeze and lag for a microsecond.

• Crucially, Nathan himself reacts with fear and confusion right after it happens. It wasn't a production error; it was a scripted reaction to a reality bug.

Combine this with the famous mirror glitch when his girlfriend is changing at the funeral in Episode 1x03, and it becomes completely obvious that the creator was setting up a nested simulation plotline.

Unfortunately, the platform doing what streaming networks always do—announcing final seasons ahead of time and forcing writers to wrap things up quickly—killed this incredible Matrix-style trajectory. They had to play it safe, drop the reality-glitch clues, and focus entirely on the main romance and the corporate conspiracy just to give it a clean ending.

Go back and watch that minute in the pilot. We were robbed of a masterpiece twist.

My dog made a hole on the fence and was lost for about an hour. He’s fine, Im still stressed out.

Father and Adult Son Serial/Film

Hello, I need your help in finding the best TV series and films about the relationship between a father and a son.

I’m looking for works that meet the following criteria:

  1. The father and son should be the main characters, and their relationship should be a key theme or one of the main themes (I would also like the series to avoid having a love story for the son — it takes up enough screen time that could be spent on improving the relationship with the man who should become a mentor/protector/guardian/father figure for the younger one).

    1. The relationship between an adult son (we’re talking about a teenager or a person over 18 years old — I don’t want to see a relationship between a young son and his father) and his father.
    2. We’re talking about non‑related/biological father and son, provided that there is chemistry between them.
    3. It’s important to me that you recommend movies about father‑son relationships in action, crime, and similar genres (I’m clearly hinting that the father‑son duo should go through some kind of hell). No cute, light films for the evening — only something challenging, something that makes your heart tremble because of their dynamic: this man is always ready to protect you; he’s already adopted you — just accept it, son.

REQUESTING Shows similar to the boys?

I tried looking on other posts, but I think people are asking for a different reason than I am. What I loved about the show was it’s commentary on society, it’s incredibly character driven plot and how they felt very real (in my opinion), and how the jokes always landed for me– not necessarily the fact that it was a super hero show. Anyone have any suggestions?

REQUESTING I’m off until next Sunday! Recommend me some underrated TV shows and anime to binge-watch

Hey everyone!

I have time off until next Sunday, and I’m looking for some good shows to binge-watch. I feel like I’ve watched most of the popular stuff, so I’m hoping to discover some hidden gems that deserve more attention.

I’m looking for:

📺 Underrated TV shows — any genre, preferably something that deserves way more recognition.

🎌 Anime recommendations — something engaging that hooks you within the first few episodes.

🕵️ Mystery, thriller, crime, comedy, sci-fi, clever plots, heists, or mind games are all welcome.

💎 Lesser-known shows that you rarely see people recommending.

I’m not really into horror, so I’d prefer to avoid that.

It doesn’t matter if the show is old or new, or whether it has 12 episodes or multiple seasons. I just want something worth spending my time off watching!

What’s your favourite underrated show or anime that you wish more people knew about?

Thanks! 🙌

REQUESTING Shows about Dragonriders

I love dragons and I wanna watch more stuff about them. I really love how to train your dragon and would like to watch stuff with dragon riders/bonds between dragons and humans (or human-like species). I like both animated and live-action stuff. Would be great if it was a bit more serious than how to train your dragon, but I'm honestly just grateful for any suggestions.

REQUESTING Question about an old TV show

Years ago there was a show that was broadcast on, IIR, independent TV channels. It took place in a taxi as it picked up passengers late at night coming from clubs, parties or just hanging out. The camera showed the driver and the passengers in the back seat. The driver struck up conversations with the passengers and encouraged them to talk. They spoke of their sexual adventures, their relationships, their plans and problems. It was very gritty and entertaining. Does anyone know if this series is still accessible and where it can be found?

REQUESTING Must see tv shows with a rating of 7.8 and below

What masterpieces, in your opinion are rated 7.8 or below? Shows that in your opinion competes with shows like Breaking Bad, Chernobyl, Sopranos and the likes. Genre doesn't matter.

I just want to find those sleeper hits I've missed through the years due caring about ratings. I'm sick and tired of myself for having cared about that all these years.

shameless but italian?

Helloo, I'm a big fan of Shameless (US) because of family drama and all caracteres subplots I found it very entertaining! So I was wondering if there is a similar serie but italian, not a Shameless adaptation but a pretty similar show.
