in the wild Got one in the wild today

Wyntr. Yep, no actual vowels at all. I had a professional email conversation with this person today.

Nobody ever believes me, but about 15 years ago I worked in a call center with a young lady named Aqua Netta. I am not joking. She went by Netta. She sat 3 rows behind me. She had to spell and explain her name to callers dozens of times a day.

We now have post approval on. Your post didn't get deleted, it just went into the queue. Please be patient a mod will go through the queue when they are available!

Please read our list of banned names before continuing. If the name you posted is in this list, it will be removed.

Remember: Original content is always better! Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does not mean you found it "in the wild".

The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!

Was this call center in Hot Springs, Arkansas? I was a supervisor in a call center in that town that had a woman in it with that name! I feel like the universe is folding in on itself...

Well, then there are two in the wild. For the record, she was one of the nicest people on the floor, bar none.

Y is a vowel when it is used as a vowel.

Still, this is another casualty in the war on vowels, because even if Y is the only vowel you can use (for some trageique reason) it should still be Wyntyr, which is bad for sure, but not in the same league of terrible as the "syllable that wasn't there" terminal -tr.

Y is considered a vowel if AEIOU aren’t used

u/bugzzzz 1d ago

It’s a vowel if it makes a vowel sound, even if there’s an AEIO or U in the mix

I did customer service for a defunct cell phone company and I had a Custer call in with the name Aquanetta! That was about 30 years ago.

Aqua Net is a hairspray.

Haha okay!

All those 1960s beehive hairdoos? That was Aqua Net.

Apparently chock full of chloroflourocarbons, so it got banned along with leaded gasoline to stop acid rain.

Aqua Netta would be an amazing drag name!

Just looked it up...there was a 1940's-50's B movie across named Aquanetta!!! She was born in 1921 as Mildred Davenport. Her stage name was Aquanetta!

Parents really need to test out these types of names by saying them out loud or even do the Starbucks tip that I once saw in passing. Because if your kid has to explain her name twelve times in one day, you should have went with a different name or fixed the spelling.

Add a few more consonants and that's a perfectly acceptable (and unpronounceable) Welsh name.

Welsh names are perfectly pronounceable, they just don't use English phonetics. You know, on account of being Welsh, not English. The Welsh language has more vowels than English does. You just don't recognise them when you see them.

Thank you. I need to learn Welsh!
