I cannot believe we have to put this on here. It goes without saying. Oh hey yeah your child was murdered in a mass shooting but your name sucks. Ha ha. Thats disgusting. This one's an automatic ban
Also added * G-Zyfp Xzyphyr Mhyn Yes its bad. But we've seen it too much lately.

Its literally part of the rules. Posting the names of deceased children is an automatic ban.
Now we have a highly followed trial going on and the name of a woman is involved. Stop posting it. We have been inundated with posts on her name.
Thank you.

If someone wanted to name their child Réiltín, but instead named them Reiltin, is that a tragediegh?
I saw a comment on here where someone said that they believe people shouldn’t use names with diacritics because some online systems can’t handle them. I’ve seen this with electronic health records, school systems, etc. Also, many native English speakers don’t know how to type these even if they can (yes, it’s their fault and they should learn but we can’t control others’ choices).
I think the notion that people shouldn’t use names like this is wild. Just think of all the “José”s out there! But I also understand the concern about having issues with your legal name not matching what’s typed in the system.
Edit: For context, I am based in the US.

Yay first post! Not my name tho, or anyone i know.
Saw this post on Threads where OP was genuinely asking if their daughters' name are that bad, because she brought them to the clinic for a checkup and the dr and nurses got mad at them due to the names. Presumably it's hard to write them down or pronounce properly.
So she's asking if it's too late to change the names, as the daughters are 15y. The commenters roasted her naturally lol. Her argument was, she never saw anything wrong or even difficult to spell, especially because the daughters learned to write their names when they were 3.
😀 honestly i don't even know what the first and third names supposed to be. The middles are Melissa and Batrisya (common name in my country), but still, the spelling is a classic tragedeigh.

This person was born around when the Harry Potter films came out, and I think the parents were going for Hermione but they spelled it phonetically based on the British pronunciation. I’m sure she gets called Hammy Annie often. They’re from Utah, sooooo…

Idk if this is purely for english names only, but i'm sharing this anyways even though i'm not brittish nor american.
So i'm Javanese (from Indonesia, not Japan btw) and my name should be fine and all because it came from old leather-puppet theatre story, that lot's of people throughout time used the names there to name their children, probably equivalent of naming your child a character from Macbeth or something idk. But for some reason my parents decided to spell me using dutch colonial spelling which is how most language in indonesia uses during colonial time and has been removed and changed with a new standardised spelling since the 1960s.
The basic changes is (since most southeast asian languages are shallow orthography)
oe => oo => u
tj => c
dj => j
j => y
So since my name is Ruci Nur Supono, it got turned into Roetji Noor Soepono, which should be fine if i was born in 1955, but i was born in the year 2010, where most names are already in modern spelling. And they decided to name me that because it's "unique" and stuff, but it's basically ruining every single occasion where somebody else must input my names for me, like competition certificates, organisation, etc etc because everyone has basically forgotten how to spell in colonial spelling.
As you might know, most parents who named their kids weird unique names have something going on with their parenting. And my mom turned out to be mostly overprotective, strict, and paranoid about my safety. Oh well

In 2009 I worked with a girl who had a baby boy. Named him Blazing LaBlunts. I thought that was the wildest name I would ever find in the wild, I was wrong. Got an MLE (Emily), RicE (Ricky) and an A-DC (Odyssey). I have lost all hope for humanity.

Wyntr. Yep, no actual vowels at all. I had a professional email conversation with this person today.
Nobody ever believes me, but about 15 years ago I worked in a call center with a young lady named Aqua Netta. I am not joking. She went by Netta. She sat 3 rows behind me. She had to spell and explain her name to callers dozens of times a day.

Just saw a tiktok and her youngest son’s name was gnarly…
i try not to judge TOO much but GNARLY?
Some names make sense as a baby but don’t as an adult. That name doesn’t even make sense for ANY age.

My wife wanted to name our daughter Jenelda. It's a combination of hers and her mother's name.
I stood my ground on it being a tragedeigh, and made it clear my daughter's name wouldn't sound like she was the wicked witch of the southwest.
Her name is Abigail.
Tragedeigh averted? Thoughts? My wife still maintains it's a perfectly fine name.

Spotted this one in a "best prom dress" contest.
It's particularly bad considering that this girl comes from a town known for producing excellent Chardonnay.

I'm assuming it's pronounced LeeAnne, but I want to say Lee-uh-han-uh

for context: a teacher in my hometown recently named her child Tripp Riggins, first and middle. Her cousin copied the name three months later, and this is the BD’s response to the teacher’s callout post.
