DISCUSSIONS I love Slow Horses So much!!!!

Post image

I was watching Slow Horses for a month now and I loved it so much, its so good, every season of this show made me loved it even more. I watched 5 seasons as of now, and the 6th season is currently airing so I am waiting for all the episodes to binge watch, only last episode is remaining which would air on 21 Oct. Every character is so brilliantly written. I dont know if the show has won any awards or anything it truly deserves an oscar ( emmy should i say). They truly know how to end a season masterfully specially season 4 and 5 like it was so awesome. Gary Oldman, Kristen Scott, Jack Lowden, whole cast is so amazing. Jackson Lamb my goat ruless, his character is so good, his humor/threats and attitude, I just love him so much. This show is so brilliantly written. Season 4 and 5 are my favourites as of now. Season 4 where river leaving his grandpa and him saying You Promised 😭 😭 and jackson's feet at the end of season 5 😭 I cant believe he was that guy from the story, I love him so much.

TELL ME WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE INSULT FROM THE SHOW?????

apologies for any mistakes in my english.

I wish I could speak to some people I work with the way Jackson Lamb does to the slow horses.

I am much like you picked it up recently and binge watched it all. The first couple of episodes didn’t really land with me but after that it’s had me completely hooked

As for a quote this for me is the best

"I don't normally do these kind of speeches, but this feels like a big moment, and if it all turns to shit, I might not see any of you again.

You're fÕ½cking useless. The lot of you. Working with you has been the lowest point in a disappointing career."

I just wish everyone atleast in slough house could show some love to him, everybody knows how capable and genius he is, his attitude could be viewed negative, but he has saved everyone multiple times and everyone knows in their subconscious that lamb would go to every length in order to protect if it ever come to that and he cares even if they are rejects, its so sad nobody sees beyond his negative attitude and would leave him at any moment if offered. He lived such a worst life and lost people and still cares about his people. Truly a goat

"So, you're in charge of the rejects."

"They don't like being called that."

"What do you call them?"

"The rejects."

My favourite is (and apologies if I misquote): "You'd be out of your depth in a puddle". It's my mission in life to use it.

I especially love when Oldman and Kristen get to bounce off of each other in their scenes, the scene at the park this previous episode was such a fine example of that!

I think you have to be a bit more specific. Which season, which episode, which park. Or just say all of them, and you’d be right. He loves to annoy the shit out of her, haha.

This picture gives me hope that Lamb's grubby and dirty look doesn't extend to a smell.

Brilliant work by the hair, make up and costume departments for creating a look you think you can smell through the screen.

The cast have repeatedly said he doesn’t smell. I’m not sure why people have such trouble with the concept of a costume.

8

u/jeffyboy526 1d ago

This is the result of an incredible actor. Oldman is so good you think he smells.

3

u/Own_Faithlessness769 1d ago

Of the costume & hair and makeup departments are so good.

1

u/WelshNurse1997 1d ago

It’s the farting that makes me think he smells because they all acknowledge it stinks šŸ˜‚

3

u/Own_Faithlessness769 1d ago

But the farting is fake.

3

u/sci-fi_hi-fi 1d ago

Excuse me but Sir Gary Oldman does not fake anything. The second the director calls action Sir Gary Oldman can farther multiple symphonys simultaneously if needed. Show some respect

2

u/WelshNurse1997 1d ago

Really!!! OMG!!!

1

u/lumponarock 1d ago

Is there something wrong with the current generation that they don't understand what costume and makeup are? Or that actors are acting?

I've heard/seen several comments about whether he smells. It's so fucking bizarre.

1

u/Mysterious_Witchypoo 1d ago

well some actors go method but Gary is just talented and doesn’t need to do any of that nonsense! lol

u/LDAReddi2026 13h ago

La gƩnƩration actuelle rƩflƩchit en effet beaucoup moins et ne prend apparemment pas la peine de se renseigner sur le mƩtier d'acteur. Faut dire, youtubeur Ƨa a l'air tellement mieux...

1

u/Mysterious_Witchypoo 1d ago

apparently they have to use sooooo much hair product to make his hair look that greasy he smells amazing!!

This show is in my top ten and I have been a voracious consumer of storytelling and stories for over65 years

2

u/WelshNurse1997 1d ago

I watched it all last year 1-5, made my husband watch them this last month with me so we can watch 6 together. We are waiting for the last ep too. Fave quote, ā€˜ F*** me, it’s like watching plankton think!’

2

u/kimuraSK 1d ago

I too just recently started watching the series last month and now I’m waiting for final episode of season 6! Im hooked. I love every character even Ho! Haha brilliant show brilliant dialogue and it’s getting better with every season. Jackson Lamb is the best

2

u/Stunningbaeee 1d ago

It’s a rare streaming-era anomaly that actually gets better with age, proving that if you anchor a spy thriller to a consistently brilliant ensemble cast and methodical plotting, you can easily outclass half the multi-million-dollar prestige slop clogging up the algorithm.

I remain convinced that this is the natural state of Gary Oldman - no hair or make up at all. He just turns up to the set with no script and behaves how he normally would.

2

u/Sean-DevlinSab 7h ago

Jackson Lamb is the perfect example of pure competence who realises those higher up the pecking order got there on the backs of others, brown-nosing and hiding total incompetence behind a veneer of talking bullshit. But he’s also the blunt instrument they all secretly respect and have a fear of because he also knows their secrets and if given their roles would run rings around everyone.

2

u/SirReddalot2020 1d ago

Is Gary Oldman really that disgusting or is it just his costume? I can’t look at the guy anymore, he gives me the ick.

1

u/SoftPeachesKisses 1d ago

it’s mostly the costume and Jackson Lamb being Jackson Lamb lmao, which honestly just shows how good gary oldman is at the role

0

u/Hollywood-is-DOA 1d ago

Females invent nonsense words like the ick. You aren’t meant to like his way of living but he is a good character that’s smarter than most people in the room, even tho he doesn’t look like it,

1

u/Techno_Core 1d ago

All words are invented.

1

u/Ok-Inevitable4743 1d ago

Males invent nonsense scenarios like women inventing nonsense words

0

u/SirReddalot2020 1d ago

First of all … ā€œfemalesā€ is for animals.
Second of all, I bet I used ā€œickā€ before you were even born.

0

u/Hollywood-is-DOA 1d ago

I doubt it, as it wasn’t in the lexicon, when I was born but as if I’ll doxy myself, just to prove a point. I ain’t young at all, but women love point scoring and I think it’s childlike behaviour, that leads to down fall of humanity, as social media encourages no accountability.

1

u/SacredTrouble7863 1d ago

It's like you're looking for any excuse for misogyny. Why even bring up women here? (I am a man, btw)

0

u/Ok-Combination-9572 1d ago

have you tried therapy?

0

u/Hollywood-is-DOA 1d ago

Have you tried accountability?

1

u/Ok-Combination-9572 1d ago

sometimes you just have to realise you're talking to a looney

2

u/SatchSaysPlay 1d ago

love the show too but won't forgive them for killing off you know who in the last episode, as if he would not have had that guy on toast with one eye closed and an arm behind his back, seriously pissed off with that decision

3

u/AnyCauliflower8717 1d ago

They follow the books, be mad at the author

0

u/SatchSaysPlay 1d ago

It’s not that deep, nobodies mad ok

1

u/LeonTheCasual 1d ago

I agree, even though it’s mostly accurate to the book, I thought he had the most potential of any of the other characters.

1

u/Delicious_Aside_9310 1d ago

Yeah I agree he always came off as comptent and dangerous, he’s only in SH because he’s weird due to his PTSD. I was very surprised he didn’t win that encounter, but it was well set up in the writing.

Interesting that despite the SH reputation none of them are actually there for competency reasons other than, ironically, Cartwright who is arguably the most competent of them all.

Binge watch with Red Horse, totally worth it

u/kalamazoo43 1d ago

The fart battle in the car with the kid was hysterical.

Gary Oldman is so damn good in this show! I love how Slow Horses can be tense one minute and genuinely hilarious the next. Jackson Lamb's sarcasm gets me every time haha

1

u/KEMedium 1d ago

This show was not it

1

u/UnusualHandle6178 1d ago

This is a show I tried when it first came out . Got 2 episodes in and felt a bit confused so didn’t go back to it . Shall I try again ? ?

1

u/itsallgoodye 1d ago

Great show. Great actors and Oldman has always been my fav also.

1

u/Long_Decision_317 4h ago

Wish they would make 10 episode seasons so good

0

u/TIL-I-AM 1d ago

Watched 3 episodes and it did nothing for me. Is it actually good?

4

u/JacketScary3365 1d ago

It is, I enjoyed the show very much. In comparison to other Seasons I do feel the first one wasnt much but it was still good. You should finish the season :))

2

u/jeffyboy526 1d ago

It is not good… it is amazing! The characters are brilliant

0

u/Hollywood-is-DOA 1d ago

It depends if you binge watch it, as I did, with the first few seasons and I didn’t enjoy it, from doing so. It’s good to watch a few episodes a day and go back to it.

It’s not meant to be action every 2 minutes. It’s also not something that’s good to scroll your phone as you watch it. People doing that, and then say it was rubbish, have the attention span of a goldfish.

1

u/caseyatbt 1d ago

I watched one episode a day at the gym on the treadmill. It was the perfect pace for me. I hope they are down for several more seasons!

0

u/Hollywood-is-DOA 1d ago

They film two series back to back, each year as it’s cheaper and easier to do so. Also we might be loosing Carter to ā€œJames Bondā€, which I’d enjoy.

1

u/Ok-Combination-9572 1d ago

same, didn't like it

0

u/Fearless_Oil9686 1d ago

Sir Gary Oldman carries the show, thats it, plots can be a bit shaite.

u/theaxedude 1d ago

Couldn't finish the last episode. This season feels like its only just begun and its the finale next week. Such rushed shit last few seasons no wonder its easy to put out as quick as they do
