International student attending master of radiagraphy 2027 questions.

Hello,

I am an international student who will be attending university of sydney's masters of radiography program 2027.

I just have several questions regarding inherent requiremnets for the program, I appreciate anybody who can answer some of my questions.

  1. I have not arrived in Australia yet, once I do, do I just sign up for a cpr program to get a certificate from the red cross before the program starts?

  2. For national police checks, do I bring a criminal record from my current country ? (I have no criminal record)

  3. I haven't received any details regarding the FMH Verification Sonia, who or what email can I ask questions regarding this process?

  4. Im extremely excited to start the program in February, are there any other international students who would like to keep in touch to help each other out getting adjusted to the program requirements etc?

Its my first time going to Australia, just excited and anxious about how it will be.

Thank you for your time, as well as any responses.

Best of luck to other students attending the radiography program !

Hey, I’m a domestic student starting the Doctor of Medicine program next year. With respect to the CPR query, you will need to do a first aid certificate which lasts 3 years, with the CPR component having to be updated every year. Here is a link to a course you can do on campus: https://susf.com.au/first-aid-courses/. With respect to the query regarding the national police checks, here is the link to Sydney uni’s guidelines: https://www.sydney.edu.au/students/clinical-placement-checks/police-check.html. All the best with your course, and enjoy Sydney 🫶🏻

Hi Are you referring to MDR course (Master of Diagnostic Radiography)? I'm also an international student starting Feb 2027 and I had not received any email regarding Sonia from the department yet.

I guess what you can do meanwhile is checking whether you have been vaccinated fully. Check out https://www.sydney.edu.au/students/clinical-placement-checks/vaccinations.html?hl=ko-KR or NSW occupational assessment, screening and vaccination against specified infrctious diseases. Since they ask for vaccination records and HBV antibody test, it might also be helpful if you can bring antibody test result (You can also get vaccinated or receive blood test in Australia but OSHC will not cover that).

I'm happy to help and get to know more! Feel free to dm me:)

Thank you very much for the information ! Yes, Im referring to the master of diagnostic radiography program. Will definitely start checking about my vaccinations. Again, thank you for the info. Its good to know that we both haven't recieved any other instructions yet regarding the sonia. Thank you ! Later down the road I might dm you if you have recieved any other information or about the inherent requirements processes. If i can help you with anything as well, let me know and dm me !

Yeah sure! Let's keep in touch. Besides, when it comes to HBV antibody test, it might be helpful to just receive in Australia since some hospitals do not prefer overseas result.

I did not know that, first time going to Australia. I didn't know that there would be some preferences among hospitals. Thanks for the info !

Yeah that's what I heard from local nursing students. Maybe because overseas hospitals usually provide simple results like (P/N)? But even if they do provide antibody quantification, they told me OZ hospitals sometimes just prefer test results done in Australia. Let me know if you hear different stories:)

Ohhh I see, thats interesting. If I do hear anything I will let you know as well~ makes sense that they would still prefer tests results done in australia though.
