From Sleepover at Sikowitz’…not sure if this has been talked about before but here’s yet another way Dirty Dan has inserted himself into the universe as a “successful” person.

Sure it was cringy in some areas but so were the other shows... idk i liked this ones character. I liked some of the silly satirical digs. There were lots but one cones to mind when the principle says "we should be on for four more seasons.. wait whats that? Four more years"

I mean, the show would still be the same overall, but some stuff would be slightly different. Probably a few episodes would exist in this version that didn't exist in the original.

I watched the first episode of Hollywood Arts yesterday, and I could only have one thing in mind; "everything is so rushed". And I know that in sitcoms things just happen at a quicker pace and most problems are solved in one single episode, but some of the things in Hollywood Arts felt like it would be important for one's characters, only for it ALL to be solved in the first episode, with little to no intervention from Trina. That one character Emmy or whatever said she hadn't spoken until she was FIVE YEARS OLD. Honestly she could have been, specially if they are aiming at a younger audience, great representation of how some people who are extremelly introverted sometimes find a way to express themselves through art.
But nope. She didn't have time to even hesitate and to develop, because Trina threw her on-stage. And I know Victorious was not a life lesson either, but it was clear that they were trying to do something somehow emotional with that girl 'techie'. And it failed.
Take, for example, that one episode where Jade's father is watching the play. We didn't need 3 episodes worthy of plot for us to understeand the problem and feel somehown drawn to it. And honestly, speaking for myself, it made me happy to see him say he was proud of her.
And then the episode keeps going for more 20 minutes, but honestly the second half felt completely useless. Allegedly, the Andre 2 (I forgot his name) was supposed to face his father, but he didn't. There was literally no evolution. And we did NOT need to see the three girls sorting their problems out because they would say out loud that they were not even enemies, they were friends. And their discussion lasted 5 minutes. Not even they knew how to exactly fix the problem because there was no problem to begin with, and communication would eventually be poor. So they decided to use that "magic of karaoke" excuse. The girls were mad because their 'best friend' had betrayed them, but they were best friends for literally 5 minutes, and Emmy clearly had never been claiming the title. 😭😭😭😭
The characters were always jumping from one extreme to another and it just didn't feel realistic. They went from hating Trina to loving her, and from wanting Oscar to wanting Emmy, and from hating each other to loving each other. All in ONE episode. And most of these things were poorly justified. I am probably nitpicking, since sitcoms aren't exactly known for their amazing plot, but even so, I feel like things weren't that rushed.
And again, I know it's common for characters to solve inner/outside conflicts in one single episode when it comes to sitcoms. But in Hollywood Arts, some of these conflicts were all the character had. Emmy didn't appear to have any trait besides being talentless. And the other two girls I do not remember the name had absolutely no personality if not being frenemies. But I haven't watched the others episodes, so I can't really say. So far, Oscar has been my favorite.
Plus, back then, these episodes were meant for television. But now, the majority of people watch shows through streaming, which demands the plot to move in a different way. I know it's not all of the cases, but it's most of them. And you can still make every episode different but not have to sort out every conflict the characters have.

A few things I don’t like such as most new shows nowadays r trying so hard to be Gen Z and it’s a bit cringe. And secondly trina would not be nervous to talk/ flirt with Robbie, she was always so overly confident. Also kind of wish Rex wasn’t in it as I would’ve liked to think Robbie would’ve grown out of it but I do find Rex funny and was a big part of victorious. Other than that show is pretty good not as good as original obviously 😌

The main qn people ask abt is what hollywood arts' target audience is and i think it's pretty clear. It is trying to reach younger audiences that have grown out of cocomelon and cartoons but still are younger than 16-18, because that's the age when teens mature. Sure, victorious was also targeted to the same audience, but it felt more grown becuz of the 'edgy' writing style, which set a harsh example that you can't be 'cringe' or whatever and only be cool, but yall gotta remember tweens/teens are always going to be corny and cringe so just give this show to them and move on with ur day.
And yeah I know it's a victorious spinoff but u can't expect Dan Schneider to come back and make it exactly the same, like...

Jen would’ve been just fine😭😭I swear the amount of “Gen Z” slang they use in this show just makes me think who’s dad wrote this??😭😭😭

Just wondering since he was mentioned twice, I believe. Also, it would mean that school was there since the 1980s.

Is it just me, or did after the first two episodes Pepper went from being quirky yet cogent to full on, overdrive, maximum settings idiot? She might be worse than Cat. What do you mean you cant catch or read?

I liked it not good but not bad on a scale of 1 to 10 I'll give it a 6 I like the characters Daniela Monet is amazing she's still funny and beautiful I'm so glad Trina is finally getting her time to shine I like Emmy maybe a little more than Tori pepper is hilarious I like quest I definitely see the Andre comparison Oscar was annoying at first but he grew on me I don't see the beck comparison Oscar has to much of an ego beck didn't need tell people that he was cool he just was I like jen the mean girl thing is not working that's not a diss to the actress she's great but the mean scary girl doesn't fit with her character the rivalry between jen and pepper is kinda forced it's obvious that they're trying to recreate the Tori and jade beef and it doesn't work the Robbie and Trina love storyline is probably one of the most out place Romance in tv show history for him to say he never had any feelings for cat is crazy he was obsessed with her overall the show was pretty good so 6 out of 10 but I do want to talk about the reactions a lot of you need to stop being so negative whenever a sequel or a reboot comes out I know you're nostalgic and are very protective of these shows and movies we had our turn now it's for the younger generation let them have their movies and their shows no one is forcing you to like it and no one is forcing you to watch

I find the show way more inspiriting and evolved than the original in some areas. Like it’s not completely mean for the sake of being mean, I with there was a BIT more edge to it though. But I genuinely like seeing people enjoy Trina’s presence, I’m happy to see Trina in a setting where she’s cared about even if the show is kind of stupid. But by the end it kind of grew on me and I ended up liking this new set of kids and their quirks. It’s not as lived in, the songs are a lot worse, and they stripped the original of pretty much all its iconography, but it’s still fun and pleasant. (I know this is probably a dumb opinion but my level of victorious knowledge is just way to vast and my passion for this show is way to big, so seeing any new victorious related content is mind blowing to me)

Matt Bennett should host Blues Clues or some type of Nick Jr show.
He seems so sweet and kind. I'm glad they are bringing more of the real Matt into adult Robbie.

Parallels: A birthday party for a teenage girl that is orchestrated by her wealthy father who every year turns it into a party for him and his rich buddies in the industry. Enter main character who recognizes that the girl should get to have what she wants on her birthday. Main character starts singing a song that’s fitting for a teenager’s party — dad’s not happy about this, but the girl’s day is made. Dad’s security chases main character.

I don’t know if this is going to be a hot take, and I’m not surprised by the general public response, but it’s still annoying. I watched Victorius when I was really young, my love for the show remains to this day, and right now I’m watching the spinoff (or at least I’m trying, not sure if I’ll continue it). It’s not a masterpiece, and it definitely has its issues but to be fair Victorious wasn’t perfect either.
Despite that, I believe that Hollywood arts it’s really not that bad, it’s a solid show that I would definitely show to a Pre teen, You can tell that they are the actual target audience, and not the nostalgic crowd. You can be disappointed about this choice of course, since there are some old cast members, but personally I also think it’s nice to have shows like this, especially since we’re in an era where there’s a lack of pre-teen content, and I really hope this spinoff opens the door for more original shows targeting that age group.
I’m not saying kids shows can’t be criticized, some things are objectively bad. But I feel like it’s silly to criticize elements like the humor, the jokes, or trends that are closer to recent years rather than the 2010s, of course they're going to sound cringey to adults! You can absolutely explain why the show isn’t for you, which is totally valid since it’s a spinoff of an older show, but I don’t think it’s necessary to completely trash and act like it’s the worst thing ever.
Often, these are the exact same people who will be the first to complain about the lack of pre-teen content, only to turn around in the same breath and completely destroy any recent show made for tweens.

Based on what I seen, the music isn’t as good as the original show and they have used old songs and real world songs like “Pink Pony Club” by Chappell Roan for the show.
And don’t get me wrong, I understand that the original show used unoriginal songs like “I Want You Back” from the Jackson 5, but it was a one time thing for the special where the characters go to jail after Tori accidentally had her shoe hit the Chancellor eye. And I guess those people were Jackson Five or Michael Jackson fans. Which makes sense and works for the show.
I just wish they brought back the original songwriters, or at least tried to get Ariana Grande and Victoria Justice and others to write music for this show. Maybe in season 2 they could rethink their strategy.

I went into Hollywood Arts with the expectation that this show is NOT aimed at my age range, nor is it necessarily intended for the audience that grew up watching Victorious. Honestly, I think people who grew up with the original should go in with the same mindset, because it’s REALLY not that bad.
With that being said, I do think the show has the potential to appeal to the original audience as well, mainly because Trina is the central focus alongside the new generation of kids. Having a familiar character at the forefront makes it easier for those of us who grew up watching the original to connect with the show while still allowing it to appeal to its intended younger audience.
The jokes are funny, the puns land, and the humor isn’t overly cringe. It doesn’t fall into that trap of trying WAY too hard to be “hip with the kids” by stuffing every other sentence with slang until it becomes unbearable (cough Vampirina cough).
I think shows like these naturally get a lot of backlash because they’re using the hype and nostalgia of an older show to attract attention while ultimately targeting a newer generation, many of whom probably haven’t even watched the original. This creates a disconnect because the original audience sees a familiar title and assumes the show is being made for them, when that isn’t necessarily the case.
I also think some of the humor doesn’t land with some people in their 20s because, at the end of the day, the jokes are written for a younger audience. Even so, I still think the show manages to capture some of the witty, pun-filled humor that made the original so funny. It’s just toned down quite a bit for… obvious reasons (rhymes with fan Smeider).
My two biggest gripes, however, are the production and the audio mixing.
First, the lack of production value REALLY shows. Trina and the kids hardly ever seem to leave the school, and whenever they do go outside, everything looks noticeably fake. The performances are another issue. Instead of feeling like an actual school showcase, they often feel like a classroom talent show. The original had much bigger crowds, more energy, and a livelier atmosphere overall. In Hollywood Arts, there are barely 20 people watching some of these performances, which makes the whole thing feel a lot less impressive.
My second gripe is the audio mixing. I honestly can’t even explain what it is, but the singing sounds SO obviously lip synced. Obviously, lip syncing is expected to some degree in a show like this, but it genuinely sounds like they took fully produced album tracks and played them over the girls singing karaoke. Something about the vocals and the backing tracks just doesn’t blend naturally, and it ends up sounding really weird.
Overall, though, I don’t think Hollywood Arts deserves nearly as much hate as it’s getting. I went in understanding that I’m not the target demographic, and I think that made a huge difference in how I viewed it. It has funny moments, some of the original show’s charm, and a familiar character who helps bridge the gap between the old and new audiences. It definitely has its flaws, especially when it comes to production, but I don’t think those flaws automatically make it a bad show. Sometimes we just have to accept that not every reboot or spin off is being made specifically for the generation that grew up with the original.
